DR SUGAR 's Medical Inspiration: CELLular Memory

Posted Mar 17, 2009 3:39 AM |  20 Comments
HELLO I AM DR. SUGAR, YOUR INTERNET DOCTOR, HERE TO GIVE YOU YOUR DOSE OF MEDICAL INPIRATION FOR THE DAY. OUR TOPIC IS CELLULAR MEMORY- - SO LETS GET STARTED SHALL WE

Cellular Memory – The Past Key to Your Present

Cellular memory is the intriguing concept that habits, interests, tastes and even memories are neatly stored in the cells of our body, and not just in the brain as some scientists believe. This concept pushed to its outer limits is also used to speculate that those who undergo organ transplants will take on the characteristics of their donors.

For movie fans you may recall one of the very first movies that dealt with the concept of a transplant recipient acquiring the cellular memory of the donor – Les Mains d'Orlac (The Hands of Orlac). Orlac was an aspiring pianist who lost his hands in an accident and during transplantation received the hands of a murderer. Orlac then fights with the urge to kill. And, of course, who could forget Body Parts in 1991 with a similar theme involving the transplantation of an arm of a killer to a prison psychiatrist?

I actually liked my BraveHeart Sister AMY HUENTELMAN's beautiful and touching story about her dad and his transplant so much better than the movie versions. Hopefully she will share again...

Is there something to this theory? I fully believe there is and I believe we store our past experiences in our body's cells. This explains the origin of our negative habits and life patterns. It also explains why there are people with addictions and other compulsions that never seem to go away.

Just about every behavior we demonstrate during our day is the end result of learned data that gets tucked away into our cells and becomes a memory – cell memory. Notice I said behavior, which means that cellular memory is a storehouse of experiences only. In turn those experiences are coded as "impressions" and are accessed by all your senses. To put this another way, when a cell offers up its memory for review it produces a body "sensation" like pain, fear, anger or tension. It might also bring along a few friends like tastes, sounds and smells, or any combination thereof.

So really cellular memory has the ability to store up incidents like a squirrel hunting for nuts for the winter. It has the ability to recall physical trauma (abuse, accidents), emotional trauma (fear, anger) and even mental trauma (low self-esteem, worry). Suppressed trauma is stuck energy and limits our ability to live a free and joyful life and may result in illness.

Negative emotions hold many of us in a vice-like grip and manifest themselves as fear, anger and pain. If there were a way to process out the negative emotions, you would once again be able to grab a hold of the brass ring – the gift of joyful abundance. Cellular memory release, or releasing emotional congestion, offers you incredible gifts that pay off virtually instantly. You are able to heal yourself (yes, the power is YOURS) emotionally and physically. With this release comes the ability to break out of and let go of past conditioning.

It is a joy to watch when someone realizes that negative patterns were only hurting them and others are a thing of the past, replaced by an internal positive support system. Inner conflicts bite the dust and we are able to become the truly powerful women that we long to be. We know she's hiding inside someplace and we want to know how to unleash her power.

Let's look at this concept from the point-of-view of the mind, body and spirit connection. This means you need to regard you body as a complete, integrated and intuitively intelligent entity. Once you realize that, you will understand there is no real distinction between the mind, body and spirit. It is all one, or all that is holistic.

If you follow this concept, you will also realize that the cells in your body all have the information of the "whole", meaning every cell in your body carries a blueprint for your existence. Pretty exciting stuff, isn't it? The penultimate observation then is that the body can only be healed if the "mind" and the "spirit" are also treated.

I am Dr. Sugar and this is a concept that guides me in life and what I strive to teach the wonderful women who attend my AMAZING WOMEN’s RETREATS.

My BraveHeart Sisters - I am Doctor Sugar, your community doctor and I would like to take a minute to share with you my feelings about depression and antidepressants.

According to a government study done by the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, antidepressants are the most commonly prescribed drugs in the United States. Of the 2.4 billion drugs prescribed in Doctors visits in 2005, 118 million of those prescriptions were for antidepressants. They're prescribed more than drugs to treat high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, or headaches.

This is an astounding increase in these drugs that affect brain chemistry. The statistics show that between 1995 and 2002 the use of these drugs rose by 48%. Are we really that depressed in this country? I have to ask the question – why are we prescribing so many drugs that affect brain chemistry? Are Americans really that depressed? Are we medicating unhappiness? Are we looking for the quick fix to feel good? Is it faster for a doctor to write a prescription than talk to their patients? Are physicians taking the time to get to the root of the problem? Are patients willing to take the time to look at their life and seek answers or is it easier to pop a pill?

There are no easy answers to these questions, so I will put forth some answers that come from my bold and brave heart – as a woman, as a mother, as a medical doctor, as a healer who is willing to ask the hard questions even when the answers may be hard to swallow – because as your community doctor – that is what you require from me – my BRAVEHEART VIEW.

There are certainly many people who have chemical imbalances and certainly many people who will require psychotropic drugs to assist with this. However, I personally find the numbers of antidepressants that are being prescribed to be shocking! For so many people, particularly women, I sincerely doubt that this is the right answer. In my opinion, this is not the solution – this is not what the future is about. This is a short-term quick fix that will, in many cases make you feel better. But what about the long term my sisters? What about next week, next month, next year?

The antidepressants most commonly prescribed in this country are called serotonin reuptake inhibitors. These drugs block the reuptake of the "feel good" neurotransmitter, SEROTONIN. When you have more serotonin in your synapses, you feel better. These drugs do work. The problem is that YOU never get to the root core of what it is in your life or in your past that is causing you mental, emotional, or spiritual pain. What is causing you to feel depressed? What are you doing to heal the pain? For so many, it is just about blocking, covering up and stuffing this pain and looking for an easier way to deal with it than look at it – an easier answer than to do the work required to heal the pain.

So lets say – a woman has started on an antidepressant – she now has more serotonin in her synapses - thanks to the drugs – and she feels better. The world is perfect - right? Wrong! – this feeling will not last because with this flooding of serotonin - that comes from the drugs – our body says, “what is all of this doing here?” Our body comes in, over time, and down regulates the number of receptors, which accept the serotonin. And over time you go back to feeling the way you did before you started the antidepressant in the first place. That is why anti depressants stop working and why your doctor will occasionally have to put you on a different antidepressant.

My sisters, from my braveheart view, I ask you to take a look at your life, to take a look at your past, to take a look at what has caused you to feel shame, guilt, abandonment, pain, and fear and be willing to take the time and do the work to heal these memories. Have an open mind to believe that everything you have been through has been ok – not right or wrong or good or bad – just ok and to know that our biggest challenges and painful times in life may have been our greatest teachers in becoming the BraveHeart Women that we are.

Be open to the idea that perhaps everything that has ever happened to you has been absolutely perfect and had to happen to you in order for you to learn the valuable lessons that have shaped your own BraveHeart View. Be willing to look at your past and heal the wounds and when those wounds have been healed, be willing to look deeper and see what was at the root of that pain and heal that as well and when those wounds have been healed, be willing to look deeper. It is a journey that is very rewarding if you are only willing to take the time to look and do the real work.

And for those of you who are on antidepressants – know that there is no shame in this. This is the answer that was right at the time. The choice you made at that time was the absolute perfect choice for you.... – it may not be the answer that will continue to be right for you.

I honor each and every one of you and I honor Ellie Drake and the ladies of the BraveHeart View for being willing to ask the hard questions and allow us to take the time to look deeper than perhaps is always comfortable. Thank you my friends and sisters!

The greatest Journey is the Journey within....

and the Greatest Gift YOU will ever give/receive is to fall completely in Love with YOU!

:-x

Hello BraveHeart Sisters! I had the incredible opportunity to connect with 26 BraveHeart Women last week in Scottsdale Arizona at the November BraveHeart Women Release! It was 3 absolutely amazing days full of laughter, tears, song, dance and amazing healing... Cellular Healing. Deep connections were made between body and mind, body and soul, mind and heart and of course between BraveHeart Sisters... and as Linda has so eloquently said in her blog.... these BraveHeart Sister connections are SOUL to SOUL and HEART to HEART.

I must say .... it was my honor to share this experience with such a powerful group of women. It is truly my greatest joy in life to share these events with each of you! To look into your eyes on Thursday when you arrive and then to look into your eyes on Saturday as we conclude with the event... it is PRICELESS.... to see the clarity, the openness, the peace, the joy and the Love. Thanks to each of you for making the commitment to yourself.

The BraveHeart Support Team was absolutely at the top of their game the entire event - they were up early and went to bed late... doing everything to ensure that our BraveHeart guests had the best experience possible. Deep heartfelt Thanks to Linda, Lisa, Crystal and Becky for pouring your heart into RELEASE and for seeing the Vision.

My beautiful inspirational soul sister Ellie Drake- - from the bottom of my heart I honor you for sharing everything you have shared with me. For teaching, mentoring and loving me into the BraveHeart women I am today! It was such a blast to have you at my side. Thank You ... Thank You... Thank You!!!! I Love you!

Together we Grow!

Together we Shine!

Together we Heal!

Together we Rise!

Together we Release!

Together we Restore!

Together we Re-Invent!

I arrived back in New Mexico to snow...Brrrrrrr... in the early morning hours... Tuesday at 1:00 am .... grabbed a few hours of sleep and then had a 14 hour shift on Tuesday..... Then when I finally got off work, I picked up my babies whom I had not seen for 6 days. We connected as we drove home and snuggled as I tucked them into bed..... This was followed by another full day of seeing patients on Wednesday and a medical staff meeting last night which I snuck out of early in order to be on the really powerful PH Call with Ellie and Radha (SisterHood of Clarity). The call was great and will be available in your CORE member section if you missed it..... And another 14 hour day seeing patients today is just about to conclude..... whewwww it has been a very wonderFULL week! ;)

I have had RELEASE on my mind ever since I returned home and am so so happy to finally have a few moments to blog about it and send out my gratitude to all of the women in attendance as well as my sincere and heartfelt wish to extend an open invitation to all BraveHeart women to make the commitment to yourself and attend a BraveHeart RELEASE event in 2010.
