Who needs to be an expert in concentration? Everyone! How to increase your concentration? Feel that your concentration is the ARROW! You want to pierce the object of your concentration with intensive one-pointedness. You want to master that which you concentrate on, with speed and with ease. Feel that you are a divine archer. Focus. Aim. Intensity.
Now that the information age is overtaking us in every way, we each need to be able to develop our concentration powers to the maximum.
We need to be able to concentrate without the outer disturbance of all that surrounds us in our daily lives. We need to be able to concentrate without the inner disturbance of the 'thieves' within us: fear, doubt, worry, anxiety.
To be an expert, you may wish to practice concentration first on an object in order to increase your capacity. Choose something that is attractive or beautiful to you. It could be a flower, a candle flame or an art object. Anything that is simple, pure and brings you joy.
Using a timer will help. Begin with very short periods of intense concentration on your object - 10 seconds is a good place to start. Gradually increase the time as you are able to concentrate without the disturbance of the mind.
For those who find it difficult to concentrate for even 10 seconds, stay away from your 'intellectual mind' and bring your 'illumined mind' to the fore. Tip: Place your hand on your heart and allow your concentration to begin from there as you draw from your soul-power.
When practicing the above exercise, keep your inner vigilance and alertness. Allow only your concentration with your object, not with the thoughts that try to enter your mind.
Practice. You can do it! Increase your concentration today! Rijuta Tooker Soul-Power Community
Every Thursday morning for 45 minutes, I teach a group of young teenagers hatha yoga and concentration. It is quite astounding how rapidly their concentration improves through the practice of yoga. We spend about 30 minutes on hatha yoga and approximately 15 minutes on concentration exercises. The following exercise is helpful not only for young teenagers but for the parents as well.
Use a watch with a timer or any other timer you have available. Set your intention ahead of time by choosing one word that represents what you will concentrate on. It could be a quality you would like to manifest or any inspiring word that is meaningful to you in the moment.
Yesterday we used the 'heart'. The children decided that if their mind began to wander they would say, "my heart, my heart, my heart." We placed our hands on our hearts, closed our eyes, and I set the alarm.
At the end of one minute, interestingly enough, most of the children did not open their eyes. They were still wrapped up in concentrating on their heart.
When asked what had changed for them, one girl replied, "I feel calmer." I then asked a boy what he felt; he said, "I feel quieter."
As I watched, their faces looked more peaceful; they were less restless (no unconscious moving of body parts) and feeling of their presence (their vibration) had changed.
What could this quick exercise do for your children - for you? It only takes one minute. I invite you to use it with your children and use it yourself, as often as you feel you 'need' it.
For those who wish to learn how to free your mind of worries and anxieties, you will need to do several things. First, you must realize that when you carry worries and anxieties with you, this is unnecessary weight and an extra burden. You are just adding to your daily challenges and difficulties.
You want to be free of this energy-stealer, this daily poisoning of your consciousness. How?
Practice. Practice. Practice.
1) Practice emptying the mind. The very second you find yourself identifying with your fears, insecurities, anxieties, move away from that identification. Throw those thoughts out to the farthest corners of the universe.
2) Practice establishing peace in the mind. Be vigilant. Rather than let the worry-thief rob you of your peace and poise, replace the worry-thief by breathing in peace then exhale, sending that peace throughout your entire being. Continue, until you are once again poised.
3) Practice making the mind calm and quiet. Rather than allow the tortures of the mind to rule your day, concentrate the mind on one-pointed stillness, calmness and quietude.
We must take inner and outer action steps to reach any goal. Practice ~ ~ ~ until you reach your own sense of excellence with the above three steps. You will quickly learn how to free your mind of worries and anxieties.
All three steps can be practiced during your daily routine. No need to sit in solitude or go hide somewhere while you practice, although that may be helpful. Noone will know that you are challenging the darkness and welcoming the light of peace.
Begin today! Free your mind of worries and anxieties!
We have heard much about gratitude, yet science is showing that if put into practice, gratitude can make you happier.
A book called Thanks!: How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier by Robert Emmons PhD, tells of the scientific proof that gratitude can change every aspect of your life.
Keeping a gratitude journal has proven to be helpful in fostering an attitude of gratitude. It is suggested that we regularly write down 5 or more very specific things for which we can be grateful. It is also helpful to think of new items every day.
Even when we are experiencing difficult times, it is helpful to think thoughts of gratitude rather than victimization. For example, rather than saying, "Most nights I wake up every few hours", we can change the thought to: "I feel so grateful when I can sleep through the night."
It takes a little practice, but with the change of thoughts, comes the change to more positive feelings. With more positive feelings, more wonderful things manifest in our lives for which we can be grateful.
Research is there to suggest to us that we can indeed become happier and healthier by concentrating on and feeling more gratitude. According to one study done, college graduates that considered themselves happy had annual salaries of $25,000 higher than those who considered themselves unhappy, 16 years after graduating.
Would now be the right time to re-activate your Gratitude Journal? Rather than take the benefits that come our way for granted, let us watch for the multiple ways for which we can be grateful. We can all be superb examples of how gratitude can manifest more happiness in our lives!

To create flow in your life can be challenging, especially when you are dealing with the many obstacles that can regularly get in the way. Besides your family life, your work life, the economy and political news, it is not uncommon to also have other personal challenges such as health issues.
You can remove obstructions and move smoothly and freely through your life by doing the following three things:
1) Set your intention at the beginning of the day as well as before you begin a new project during the day, to do everything with ease. Remember that when you begin to feel a struggle, you may have to make another choice that will bring greater ease.
We sometimes get stuck in our own rut and make the same choices that we made in the past, bringing more struggle. That struggle carves out a larger rut that causes no end of obstruction and more struggle. Take one minute to set your intention to go forward with ease.
2) Keep all that you do during the day as simple as possible. The mind enjoys complication. By keeping what you do as simple and as straight-forward as possible, you have less to think about, less to contend with and less to consider in your mind.
Simplify your life by cutting out one or two projects. Simplify your environment by pairing down the number of material objects in your living space. Keep your mental attention units down to a bare minimum. I have taken the last two months to do the same and now I feel so much more free and ready for what comes next.
3) Create from your heart. The heart gives you the best advice. In order to hear what the heart has to say, spend some quiet time during the day. There are always choices available; you will know in which direction you would best be advised to go. The heart is ready to tell you.
To remove obstacles, do just three things: - Set your intention on creating with ease - Simplify your life - Create from your heart
Smile, take a deep breath and go forward simply and with ease. You will create flow in your life with little or no obstruction. You can do it!

Although you may wish to see more peace in your outer world, you can take simple steps to create more peace in your personal world, both inner and outer.
We look around our outer world and find an economy that still causes heartaches to many, institutions that do not serve us in a fair way and a disaster such as the Gulf oil spill that unnerves even the bravest. When we realize that all of this is almost more than we can handle, what is the next best thing for us to concentrate on?
Ideally, we aspire to change our own circumstances to match what it is that we would like to see in the greater world around us. How do we do that? By feeling that we are part of the solution.
We do that one small step at a time, by bringing a sense of peace into each area of our own lives as best we can. For example, rather than concentrate on any lack in our own economy and financial situation, we can instead concentrate on what is working for us and be grateful for all that we do have.
For our disappointment in many of the institutions we count on daily, again let us use the same principle of appreciating what does work about them and letting go of the usual complaining that we can easily unleash.
The disaster in the Gulf is a big one. The most simple solution is to remember a few moments of loving prayer or meditation each day for mother earth and her children - plant, animal and human.
Of course, to bring peace to our immediate outer world, we must establish peace in our inner world, inside our mind and heart. For this, we can make a daily intention to set aside some silent time during the morning, during the day or in the evening to establish our own inner safe haven.
When you create peace in your personal world, you are contributing in a hugh way to create peace in the larger world around you. Please commit ~
Prayers for peace in your personal world.

You are encouraged to create an energy of healing for yourself and for others.
To heal is to restore to health or soundness; to bring forward a sense of well-being. The process of healing eliminates symptoms, frees the body-mind of blocks and facilitates the body's own natural capacity to heal itself.
How do we create an energy of healing not only for ourselves but for others as well? Check out the 5 R's to see what you may add to your efforts:
1. Remove stress factors as soon as possible. Consider all stress: from removing the noise from the TV to letting go of one of your irritating 'friends'.
2. Remain in a positive consciousnessas much as possible. You can choose the level of consciousness within which you wish to enjoy life. Set a positive intention.
3. Remember to pay attention to your thoughts, feelings and actions. Energy moves to the dominant frequency of what you are putting out there.
4. Refuse to acknowledge thoughts of ingratitude. No complaints. Concentrate on what you can be grateful for.
5. Realize that you are what you concentrate on. Choose one or two affirmations that you can quickly bring forward when you so desire. Use them for inspiration or to re-focus your energies.
Take action for one day utilizing one or more of the above 5 R's. You will certainly create an energy of healing for yourself and for others.Which one strikes a bell for you today?
Sending you the energy of healing love-light.

Be aware of how you are moving your life forward! Is there anyone who does not want to have more, be more and do more?
Many persons spend their time and energy simply trying to get from the beginning of one day to the next. Days are spent rushing from one activity to another, family and friends are last on the list because the 'To Do List' is so long.
How much value have you added to your own life in the first six months of this year? How much value would you like to add to your life in the last six months of this year?
For some this would be difficult to measure. There are many ways we can create more value in our lives. Following are four questions to help determine how your life is moving forward. I invite you to change the questions around to suit your own circumstances.
1. Have you taken action that has brought you or your family more happiness, more oneness? For example, are you enjoying more quality time together?
2. Is there more ease and flow in your life? For example, do you feel that you are struggling less with your daily affairs?
3. Are you smiling and laughing more? For example, do you find that friends and family want to spend more time with you and engage you in conversation?
4. Do you find that you are more often concentrating on others and how you could add value to their lives? For example, do you offer to water your neighbour's garden while they are away for the weekend?
Make up your own list of questions or action steps to help you move your life forward. Rather than live to SURVIVE, take steps to live to THRIVE. A little attention; a little intention. All done from the heart and offered with loving gratitude.
How did you move your life forward today?

Learning to trust your heart is one of the best ways to enjoy a more creative and fulfilling life.
You can learn to trust your heart by learning to FEEL how you are affected as your day continues to manifest from morning to night. You do this by bringing your conscious awareness inward in order to develop a sharp sense of the subtleties of energy that you experience from moment to moment.
How are you feeling this very moment? Try to name the feeling. Are you comfortable? Is there something in your body that is trying to get your attention? Do you feel distracted? Are your thoughts about yesterday, tomorrow, next week? Are you feeling joyful, sad, tired? Simply being aware is enough.
When you learn to listen to your heart, you are beginning to access your real and true self, your soul. The better you are able to do this, the more creative you will be at problem solving and living a life of elegance and ease.
When you wish to ask a question of your higher self, try placing your hand on your heart and concentrating there. Ask your question; be silent for a few moments then listen with openness and trust without rejecting what comes up.
When you begin to trust the messages that you hear or feel or sense, and begin to take small action steps to follow through, then you are truly trusting your heart. In this way you can enjoy a more creative and fulfilling life.
How did you trust your heart today?

With the whirlwind of activity we see and hear around us, the feeling that time is speeding up putting a faster spin on our lives, many of us are feeling overwhelmed. Rather than stay in that overwhelm, you can create more balance and flow in your life.
I invite you to take a moment to try one of the following to create more balance and flow in your life:
1. Shift your perception of where you stand in your life experience. See, feel and believe yourself to be in total alignment with what you desire. Visualize and breathe in this NEW experience.
2. Scan your body, noticing where too much energy has collected: tension in the head or neck; pain in the back; slow digestion. Concentrate on that area of the body and breathe into that place; exhale and release the energy of disturbance. Continue until you are free of the tension or pain. Now feel an openness and a flow to the energy in your body.
3. Breathe in your own scattered energies from all around you. Allow the energy to flow through you. Feel a sense of receiving and of opening. Even as you release the breath, allow that same openness to remain as the balance and flow of energy continues naturally within you.
4. Be aware of when you enter 'Resistance Mode'.Whatever your experience - good, bad, or 'other', breathe in deeply the energy that is around you. Accept that energy for the moment; release and let it all go as you exhale.
5. Ground yourself each time you take a deep, full, gentle and energizing breath. As you release the breath, exhale down into your feet and toes continuing into the earth. As you ground yourself, you will release all energy that does not serve you.
When you are feeling overwhelmed, do one or more of the above for yourself; it only takes 2 to 3 minutes or less. You can easily create more balance and flow in your life.
Let us breath in harmony, gently allowing the balance and flow of harmony to remain within us - with gratitude.
