In this article entitled The Cross, by Pastor Sherman Scott of streamingfaith.com, he includes a verse from a Hymn that I was singing this morniing. It reminds me of other Hymns that I like to sing, pertaining to the cross . For example: (1) On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame and (2) There is a green hill far away, without a city wall, where the dear Lord was crucified, who died to save us all. The cross is very significant to me and I wannt to share this article.

Pastor Sherman Scott wrote:
(1 Cor 2:1-2) And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. {2} For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

The aforementioned is the refrain to an old hymn of the church. While I absolutely love the music of today I can not deny the power of the hymns of the church. This particular refrain is centered on the "Cross."

The Cross is probably the most familiar of all Christian symbols is the cross. They are worn around the necks of individuals. Bishop, Pastors, Elders and Ministers wear them as part of their civic and ceremonial attire. We see them on buildings, books, brochures, and Bibles.

They are on top of steeples, against walls, they are everywhere. What is the significance? What does it means to you and me? We know that historically the cross meant death and suffering as a cruel means of execution. But is that why we celebrate it today? Is that why we embrace it this morning? No, not at all!

The cross means much more than that. To the one who believes the message of God as given in His Word, the cross has identity. It becomes the cross of Christ. It means life rather than death; it means love rather than hatred; and it means joy rather than sorrow. Through the Cross of Christ, God reconciled sinful man unto Himself. An amazing accomplishment and one that only He could do!

The cross is of great importance to us because it provides simplicity in a complex world, it provides direction in a busy world, and it provides motivation in an apathetic world.

On April 12, 2009 we will celebrate Resurrection Sunday. For us as Christians our faith is anchored on the Resurrection. We often say, "I love you" to our love ones on special occasions I admonish you to take time out this day and tell our Lord you love him for what he has done for us.

The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5:8 that "...God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us".

"Christ's resurrection from the dead is the "best-attested fact in human history."
~Thomas Arnold ~

~Many people will show up in Church today for their once a year visit to acknowledge Jesus' death on the cross,His burial and His ressurection, but for the people who know Jesus and have a relationship with Him, His resurrection is remembered every day. Christ is the only Person who ever died, arose from the dead and is still alive. It is hopeful to read in Revelation 1: 17-18, where Jesus Himself attested: I am the first and the last, and the Living one; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore." The writers of the four Gospels have also written about this very important fact. These are reasons to eradicate all doubts about Jesus apply faith and live for Him.~

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
~Matthew 28:6~.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.
~Aristotle~

When you know what your passion is, do not neglect or let it get crowded out by all the distractions around you. Your passion is your dream, your purpose and it is indeed a special gift from God. Spend some time on it each day until you achieve your desired result.

But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.

In these tough times, we must apply faith and hope in the promises God has made to those who love, believe, obey and trust in Him.

Norman Vincent Peale said: Tough times don't last but tough people do. You have got to toughen up or you will melt away in this pot of boiling discouraging news.

Before we can begin to talk about faith, we have to understand what faith is. Within the past few weeks I have had several people commented on my faith in a positive way.

Suffice it to say, my faith has not always been at this level, but I must admit it is better than it has ever been. I have been on a journey of prayer asking God to strengthen my faith and it is working. It is a continuous work in progress and you can do the same.

The definition of faith in Hebrews 11 has helped me to understand that although I cannot touch or see God physically; by believing and releasing my faith through actions such as prayer, service to others, gratitude and speaking His Word, He continues to work on my behalf.

In Hebrews, faith is defined in this way: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). According to the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, the Hebrew word for faith is pistis, which means belief, trust, and assurance and often refers to the Christian system of belief and lifestyles.

I know that sometimes it is difficult to be strong in faith, but as believers we still have to hold on to hope, trust and believe that in our darkest moments, God's light still shines through.

When you feel as though you are at the end of the rope, do not let go. Hold tighter; the longer you hold on, the greater your blessings will be. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. Remember, "Nothing is too hard for the Lord" and "With God all things are possible,"-not some things, but ALL.

With the knowledge that God is always with you, put on your tough skin and know that the battle is already won.

Apply these Principles:

1. Read the Bible often, listen to what it is saying to you and act accordingly. So then faith, cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

2. Have faith, do not doubt, believe in God and work earnestly at developing the measure of faith that He has given you.
God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3).

3 Walk by faith and not by sight. Do not be too concerned about the hardships, unpleasant experiences or frustration that you encounter in the natural realm of things. The supernatural realm is always working favorably for you, even in the midst of the chaos you see: For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Until next time

There is a connection between forgiveness Freedom. It all began thousands of years ago in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve violated their freedom and committed a sin. They disobeyed God- their Creator. God knew then that the world would be in serious trouble. He had to do something to save mankind.

So He promised a seed (Genesis 3:15). The Old Testament prophets, (Isaiah 7, Micah 5. Hosea11) prophesied about Jesus’ birth and Jesus birth was fulfilled in the New Testament. (Matthew and Luke 1 & 2). The promised seed, Jesus, was born. God would later gave the promised seed, His son, Jesus to die so that our sins would be forgiven.

Jesus freely died for our sins, yet He Himself never sinned. He was perfect and He enjoyed His freedom. He asked God to forgive the people who hurt and sinned against Him. One of the commands given in the Word (The Holy Bible) is that we must forgive.

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:14-15).

Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Matthew 6:14-15).

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32).

Why should you forgive?

Because it is what the Lord has commanded in His Word. There is a popular saying; “Forgiving frees the forgiver.” So the greatest benefit of forgiveness then, is to set you free.

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you (Matthew 6:14).

Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift (Matthew 5:23-24).

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others (Colossians 3:13).

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: (Luke 6:37).

God is waiting to hear you ask Him for forgiveness. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that you have ever done that He will not forgive if you ask.

How often must I forgive?

Peter asked that very question of Jesus and the answer was:

Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven

Matthew 18:22. Also see Luke 17:3-4.

This suggests to me that forgiveness is something we must practice often and for as long as the need exists.

Tell Jesus you are sorry for your sins and He will forgive you. He loves us so much; He already paid the price for our sins. Believe He has forgiven you.

Go to the people you need to apologize to go and ask for their forgiveness or tell the people who have hurt you that you have forgiven them. Be careful not to have preconceived thoughts of what their reactions might be.

Simply go with a selfless attitude and with no expectation. What really matters is that you do your part: forgive yourself, accept God’s forgiveness and forgive other.

If this is too difficult for you to do, simply ask God to help you. There is nothing too hard for God (Jeremiah 32:27; Genesis 18:14). With God all thing are possible. (Matthew 19:26; Mark 10:27).

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36).

Obedience will force you to step out and take care of this matter of forgiveness.

I’d like to conclude with this quote from George Herbert: “He who cannot forgive breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass."

We are celebrating our 25th wedding Anniversary today and I feel I have a couple of nuggets to share.

1. The Pre‐Nuptial: Put God first in the marriage and understand His principles for marriage, as it
pertains to God being the head of the man, the man being the head of the household and the wife
submitting to the husband. Anyone couple who has weathered a marriage for twenty‐five years in
today’s society must have done some things right along the way. They did some things wrong too. But I
believe the good must have out‐weighted the bad for any marriage to last twenty‐five years. As we all
know, for many, the vows are just mere words that do not mean anything anymore. In our marriage,
the glory goes to God for being in the in the center of it. When situations arise that were too much for
us to handle, we always go to God.

2. Oneness: Be consciously aware that the marriage is two and if there is a third person, there is
going to be a problem. The only third chord in a marriage should be God. Other than that, you are
going to face problems. You must resist all other persons who try to interfere in your marriage. Life is
between the two of you. Discuss your expectations on certain issues. Know your partner’s likes and
dislikes. . A marriage is a mutual affair. Share each other’s burdens.

3. Communication: Be open and candid‐no secrets, being best friends. Tell your spouse the truth.
You are adults and therefore should respect each other to the point where you do not hide things.

Being secretive or hiding certain things cause a break down in trust and in the relationship. Take a cooling period and then how you can work things out before taking drastic actions. The grass is not always greener on the other side. When children are involved, set rules together and stick to them. Share the responsibilities.

4. Forgiveness: Forgiveness is always necessary, because you did not marry a perfect human being
and you are bound to have disagreements at times. There are two sides to every story and most of the
times the problem is not with one person, but with both. One might start it, but it ends up affecting
both to a certain degree. Remember you cannot always be right. Sometimes you have to give up your
point of view to harness peace. Learn to give and take. Always apply the Golden Rule.

5. Keeping the love fire going and the memory working. Don’t ever forget each other’s birthdays,
or your anniversaries. Plan to spend time alone with each other. Do something special, such as going to
a quite resort, going to a fancy restaurant or cooking a favorite dish, taking out the special china, lighting
the candles and opening a bottle of wine. Celebrate each other successes, and empathize in failures and disappointments. Know that two is better than one. Do not ever be jealous of your spouse’s success. Being jealous of your spouse is absurd. I do not care if the woman makes more money than you. Either way, it is a blessing because you both benefit

6. Trustworthiness: Honesty is superior. Be honest in everything you do. When there is honesty,
trust falls perfectly into place. When there is trust, there is peace and harmony. You can make verbal
agreements, but you must keep them. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Do not go into marriage
with lies. Be matured enough to put everything on the table. You may ask for a few counseling sessionswith your pastor before you tie the knots.

7. Prayer: When you have done all that you can do and there is nothing left for you to do,
assuming, you have been praying all along, pray again and just simply leave the issue with God. Trust
me, He’s got it. He always has and always will, if you allow Him to, and wait for Him to work things out.
He promises to come through for you.

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.
~ Judy Garland~

~Some people desire so much to be like someone else that they miss out on who they really are, the unique purpose of their own existence and what they are here to do. They are crippled by fear and doubt and never build up the courage to fight for their destiny. Each of us is here for a specific purpose that no one else can fulfill. Regardless of what others have said about you, be yourself, walk in your own shoes and propel to your destiny.~

God created you in his own image (Genesis 1:27) and with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26) .

I like Joel Osteen's simple messages that teach how how simple God's principles are. We just need to apply them to daily living. Today his simple message is:
Give Life to Your Faith

"TODAY´S SCRIPTURE
"…faith without works is dead"
(James 2:20, NKJ)

TODAY´S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Are you putting action behind your faith today? If we aren’t doing something that shows that we believe God, the Bible says that our faith is dead. Dead faith won’t accomplish anything. We have to give life to our faith by putting actions behind it. And, it doesn’t have to be anything big, just something that shows your faith in God. For example, I know people who are down and discouraged. They pray, “God, please. Get me out of this discouragement. God, give me my joy back. God, give me a new beginning.” And yes, prayer is important, but it’s only part of the process. What really causes God to act is when you do something about it—you get back up, dust yourself off, and say, “You know what? I’m not going to stay down. This is the day the Lord has made! I am going to be happy and have a great day.” That’s putting action behind your faith.

I encourage you today to let your actions give life to your faith. Show the world that you are trusting God’s Word. As you do, you’ll give life to your faith, and you’ll step into new levels of His victory and blessing in every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, thank You for Your Word that builds faith in my heart and refreshes my soul. I choose to put action behind my faith today. I choose to give life to my faith so that You can accomplish Your will in me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."
Joel Osteen

"In order to build your faith, God will give you a dream, then He'll urge you to make a decision, but then He'll allow a delay, because in the delay He matures you and prepares you for what is to come.

The truth is you'll have difficulties while God delays. This isn't because He doesn't care about you or that He's forgotten your circumstances; rather, it's one of the ways He pushes you toward the deep end of faith.

As God delays, you'll face two types of difficulties: circumstances and critics. This is a natural part of life. God designed it this way because He knows we grow stronger when facing adversity and opposition.

When Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt into the desert toward the Promised Land, he had one problem after another. First there was no water. Then there was no food. Then there were a bunch of complainers. Then there were poisonous snakes. Moses was doing what God wanted him to do, but he still had problems.

David was anointed king, and then for the next several years he was hunted down by Saul. Joseph had a dream of becoming a ruler, yet he was sold into slavery and thrown into prison on a false charge where he languished, forgotten. Imagine the difficulties Noah had building a floating zoo!

The Bible says that when Moses died, Joshua was appointed the new leader. Moses led the people across the desert and then Joshua led them into the Promised Land. Did he get the easy part? The Bible says that when the Israelites entered the Promised Land there were giants in the land. Even in the Promised Land there were problems!

God does this because He is building our faith and character. When we finally come to a place where the difficulties become so bad, where we've reached our limit, where we've tried everything and exhausted all our options, it is then that God begins a mighty work through us: "I know, even though you are temporarily harassed by all kinds of trials and temptations. This is no accident—it happens to prove your faith, which is infinitely more valuable than gold" (1 Peter 1:6-7 PH)."

Entrepreneurs are visionaries: They write their vision down and keep it in a place where they can see it every day. They draft a plan of action, execute it and remain focused specific goals until they are accomplished. They are masters at crafting their own lives and making their dreams come true.
They are not tied down to the confines of society, the negative things that people have said to them or the negative attitudes they encounter in their daily lives. They are more than conquers. They are on a mission and they are unstoppable
2. Entrepreneurs are leaders. They do not wait to be told what to do. They put a lot of energy into being productive and set their priorities right. They do their own research, while working with ease and smartness. They do not always try to reinvent the wheel. They find their niche and dedicate time to developing in that area. They understand this principle too well:
“Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich” (Proverbs 10:4).
3. Entrepreneurs do not wallow in self-pity, cry over spilled milk or sweat the small stuff . They know how to learn from their mistakes and move on. They know how to take responsibility, be accountable, not procrastinate, and be decisive. They do not justify or condemn; they are in control.
4. Entrepreneurs take inspired, prompt and precise actions to execute their plans. They are not necessarily impulsive and emotional decisions, but they do know how to act quickly using gut instincts.
5. Entrepreneurs are teachable and coachable. They have an open mind; they learn new skills and improve upon old ones. They attend training seminars, listen to motivational and inspirational recordings, read books and stay with the current trends. Self development is a continuous process for them.
To help propel them through their entrepreneurial process, entrepreneurs find experts who walk their talks and pay them well to show them how to implement cutting- edge strategies to assist them in moving up the success ladder. Simply put, they pay people to do the things they have challenge with.
6. Entrepreneurs are eager to share their wisdom and knowledge. They have a passion to bring out the best in others and in themselves. They want to always be on the cutting edge and to assist others in getting what they want also. My favorite entrepreneur Zig Ziglar said: "You can have anything you want in life, if you help others get what they want." Entrepreneurs are team players, mentors and resources gurus. They know that when knowledge and wisdom are applied there is POWER.
7. Entrepreneurs know how to listen. They know that a good listening skill is an asset to their success. They know that listening to what the customers need is one sure way to build relationship and please their customers. If the customers are pleased with your service they will always come back and send others to you also.
8. Entrepreneurs are not afraid to ask questions. They formulate the right questions to get the desired answers
9. Entrepreneurs have gratitude. They give thanks to their creator and to the people who give them support. They generously give back to society.
10. Entrepreneurs know their products inside out. They know how to maximize their benefits. They are the CEOs of their companies as well as of their lives.
11. Entrepreneurs enjoy sharing and are givers more than they are takers.. They give generously give back to society. They are committed to service and to their destinies
12. Finally and most important, entrepreneurs put God first in everything they do. Pauline Lewinson

Today is National Day of Prayer. We do believe that prayer should be a part of every person's daily life, especially those who go to church. Matthew wrote: It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves (Matthew 21:13). Some people would rather spend time in church gossiping, rather than praying. The house cannot be called a house of prayer if people choose to do everything else and refuse to pray.

Praying as a group is very effective. It is written in the Word: Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Matthew 18:19-20).

What do many of us like to do when we do pray? We like to beg or ask God for things. I think it is better to pray asking, than not to pray at all, but we need to remember to give Him thanks first. He has given us so much already! Jesus said: And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh fi ndeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened (Luke11:9-10).

God may put a desire in your heart and you may pray for that thing. You may not see it happen at the time when you want it to, but do not give up. Delay does not mean that He has not heard or that He has denied your prayer. It means God has an appointed time in which He will answer and give you what you need. Whatever you do, do not waver or doubt when you pray.

Have faith and hope in the promises of God.
If you pray for something and it is God's will, you will have it.

PRAYER:
Dear heavenly father, we are sorry for the things we have done, whether by thought, word or deed; that were not pleasing to You. Thank You for fogiving us of our sins. We pray for all our brother's and sisters that through Your grace and mercy, they will not be afraid to worship You in prayer. Let us recognize prayer as the foundation for our continued connection and relationship with you. Thank You for blessing and transforming the lives of our friends, families, nation and all people everywhere; Amen.

Until next time!

September 11, 2001 (9/11) is a read letter day. It is a day that the American people and the rest of the world will remember forever. This was a scary and dark day for every American. People came together to mourn the loss of almost three thousand lives destroyed by the hatred of a few deranged people from one nation trying to bring down another.

The thought of any sane human being performing such atrocity would make anyone puke. These scum bags have left the memories of this hideous crime etched in the minds of children who were only three years old when this happened.

My son was only nine days from his third birthday and he remembers this incident. Yesterday he said: “September is the worse month, the only thing good about September is my birthday. I hit my head on the kitchen cabinet door on Monday, my dog is pooping in the house and they blew up the Twin Towers in September eight years ago.”

I had to console my son and let him know that everything is going to be alright. We have to affirm our children and help them not to become despondent in these uncertain times. It is amazing how they think and what they think about. They are little people, whose minds are not developed and matured as adults, but they do understand a great deal and they put their emotions into these things.

In order to bring up a wholesome generation, we have to teach our children to start applying biblical principles to their lives so that they will have confidence in themselves and hope, trust and faith in God. They need to know that God is in control of the universe and all they have to do is their best always, everyday.

Let us pray for our nation, our children and our safety. At the same time pray that the terrorist plans will all be intercepted and they will come to respect God’s creation.

FREEDOM TO CHOOSE

Are you saying that you are not worthy or you are not ready? God is asking, what are you waiting for ? He is saying, I need you, you are mine. I love you more than you would ever know. Come to me now.
You might have questions and not sure about having a life in which you make Jesus Christ the center, when you make the decision to come to Christ; He will answer your questions.

He will pick you up and deliver you from every bad situation. “With God all things are possible and there is nothing to hard for Him to do.” Come to Jesus now. There is nothing you have ever done or could ever do, that would cause God not to receive you. He wants you to come as you are. Come as you are and He will receive.

Do not worry about what to wear. Wear whatever you have. Come now. God has already chosen you and is waiting for you to say, Yes and come to Him. You belong to God, but He has given you free will to choose. There are only two choices, God or satan/Good or evil/Right or wrong. You have the freedom to choose either one. This concerns your salvation.

The choice you make will determine if your destiny is eternal joy or eternal torment. Some choose other Gods and refuse to believe in Jesus. The Bible tells us there is only one God.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:5.

I am not saying that when you come to Christ, all hardships will cease, but what I know for sure is that when you come to Christ, He takes care of the hardships. He bears the burdens as you exercise your faith and trust and obey Him. He is equipped to handle all the situations that you struggle with. Ponder John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

WHOM SHALL I CHOOSE?

No one can tell you whom you should choose. I can give you some facts about the choice I have made and I can share some of my experiences with you, but there is nothing to compare with knowing Christ for yourself. Jesus is your wonderful Savior. Do you know Jesus? If not, you have to read the Holy Bible in order to get to know Him for yourself.

I have heard some people say they have read the Bible and they know God, but they do not believe in Jesus. My advice to anyone who is in this predicament is that you pray hard and ask God to help you to understand His Word and also to help you to get to know His Son, because the Bible tells us:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him (Matthew 11:27) NLT.

I promise you, if you chose Jesus and live according to what the Holy Bible teaches, your life will improve 100%. Stay tuned for more on this topic in future blogs.

COME TO ME

Why Should I Choose Jesus – Part 4

The Bible says:

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, for you will see Abraham,
Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, but you will be thrown
out (Luke 13:28).

I wonder why anyone would want to experience such agony?

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame (Luke16:23-24).

Then the rich man said, ‘Please, Father Abraham, at least send him
to my father’s home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so
they don’t end up in this place of torment’ (Luke 16:27-28).

God has promised that He will save us from many disasters, if we turn
from our evil ways. The Lord told Jeremiah to warn the people of Judah and
Jerusalem, say to them:

This is what the Lord says: I am planning disaster against
you instead of good. So turn from your evil ways, each of you, and do what is
right (Jeremiah 11:18).

I recommend that you read the books of Joel, Zephaniah and Zechariah.

WHEN IS THE RIGHT TO COME TO CHRIST?

The right time to come to Christ is NOW. The time is now because you do not know if you will live to see tomorrow. We have to be prepared and ready at all times because none of us knows when Christ will appear or when our heart will stop beating permanently. God Himself said “Come now.”:)

If you have decided that you do not want to continue in your unbelief or rebellion against Jesus; if you do not want to follow satan and perish or if you want to give your life to Jesus who already gave His life for you, all you need to do is to take these simple steps which I have outlined for you.

In my next Blog I will I will outline the steps you need to take to come to Christ.
