To achieve success in any area - relationships, health, business or spirituality, one must collect, condense, and learn to use one's energy effectively. Letting your energy dissipate in too many areas, and in too many ways will leave you tired, confused, and stressed.

Energy leaks come in a variety of forms, some more harmful than others, but all having the same effect - keeping you from attaining your highest potential.

These few questions can help you to examine your daily habits. See what comes up for you as you read along, and what buttons inside are being pushed. If you feel any resistance, take some time to reflect and examine that deeper.

Did you leave your home this morning with no focus for the day, no clear intention?

What have you eaten today? Was it loaded with sugar or caffeine and is possibly adding to your anxiety?

Did you take the time to get adequate rest in order to clear your mind and let your body rejuvenate or are you always on the go and thinking of several things at once?

How long have you been sitting behind your desk or computer - have you taken a few minutes simply to breathe deeply? Do you exercise regularly - 20 minutes or more, 4 times per week?

Are you currently being critical and judgmental of yourself or others? Are there any resentments simmering inside of you?

Have you spent time engaged in useless conversation?

Have you spent any time immersed in the negativity of the media?

Have you spent any time moaning, groaning or complaining rather than taking responsibility and doing what can be done?

Did you ignore to ground yourself physically and emotionally?

For myself, when I feel tired and less than enthusiastic - it is often because I have fallen into the trap of taking things way too seriously and I am not taking time to smell the roses.

Next time you are feeling tired, and less enthusiastic about what you are doing - take the time to examine what you were up to and see if there are ways that your energy is leaving you, without your full awareness.

Once you are aware of your energy leaks you will be able to plug them and redirect the current of your energy, therefore moving towards your goals more effectively.

Create a wonderful day for yourself,

The Big 50 is Here…

Yep, that is right, 50 years young today! Where has the time gone? Yet the pictures and the photo albums are proof positive that it all took place - at least in my mind…

Kidding aside, I love this new sign post. I can evaluate where I have been, take the gifts in the lessons, and move forward from that space.

I have raised 2 fabulous young men, shared wonderful times with their father, had a rewarding career in education, and in recent years discovered my passion and purpose.

Now armed with a solid self esteem, increased self confidence, new abilities, an exciting vision, and surrounded by wonderful people and love … I am more excited than ever about the possibilities and what lies ahead.

So what is age? How can it be measured? Are we measuring the right things?

Rather than looking at time on a calendar.. I believe the condition of one's attitude, one's zest and desire for a fulfilling and satisfying life, the passion for what interests you, one's quest for growth are all much better indicators of one's true age.

What is aging You?

You may want to ask yourself: What am I not taking care of that could be aging me? Is it physical, mental, emotional, spiritual or even financial?

If I must confess... I can forget to smell the roses, and make enough time for fun. Lack of fun, laughter and pure joy can age you quickly.

Till next time Learn to Be Your Own Wizard, have a wonderful start to your day, and I am off to have a great start to a brand new year.

Good day to you!

Ever realize that it is so much easier to be patient, kind and forgiving towards others than perhaps towards yourself?

One of the lessons I have come to grips with, as I move forward in life, is that it is never completely done... there is always something new to do, to learn and to grow from.

We can be on the path of the straight and narrow for just so long and then life happens and we are off again for a little while - but now I accept that it is suppose to be like that - getting thrown off the path is where the learning and growing this places - it is how you learn to play this game of life effectively.

My point is - it is in our "mistakes" and our challenges that we are molded and become the sculpted Being we are meant to be.

We really need to cut ourselves some slack and forgive ourselves for what we perceive are our "faults" and "errors" because in reality these don't exist - they simply exist in our mind. Everything is simply feedback for us to use in order to move forward more effectively with our purpose and passion.

I suggest we all take a moment to intend forgiveness towards ourselves.

Today, I want to share something related a little more directly to one's health.

Did you know that women have 7 x more serotonin receptor sites in their gut than men do?

To channelize ...if you do not have a healthy gut you are robbing yourself of this wonderful happy and feel good neurotransmitter.

Increased serotonin levels will positively impact the way you think and feel, and therefore will affect your decisions. And hence even your ability to manifest your desired results.

It is important to your well being that you take care of your intestinal track.

"Coffee Breaks for your soul" - when I first heard this expression this morning - I thought how brilliant!

How many of us actually stop during our very busy day and take soul breaks?

Can you imagine taking time to quiet your mind - to let go of an emotional charge on something - to take a minute to observe nature - to read an empowering passage...you get the picture - something that would help rejuvenate you as you went along?

Why do we frequently feel that we do not have time for such things? Why do we feel that we don't deserve those precious few moments at regular intervals?

Can you begin to see how things in your work environment or in your home could change for the better, if you started taking a few minutes to rejuvenate your soul, and actually feel good?

Much of our daily stress is caused by how we habitually respond to events and circumstances - rather than the actual event or circumstance. We must learn to stop giving our power away - we frequently to so by letting others gain control over our internal well being - by letting them push our buttons. We can all choose to stop that behavior today.

An event + a reaction = an outcome. We do not get to control events, but we can certainly control how we respond to events, therefore changing the outcome and starting to reduce our level of stress.

These types of concepts are simple yet powerful - if you choose to implement them in your daily life. You can find much more on this topic and other related topics by visiting http://www.mercola.com.

I do not like to recommend something until I have tried it out and have seen for myself the validity of the information and/or products. I have learned much from Dr. Mercola's site and I use his "Focus" and "Insight" CDs when working at my computer, in order to help me gain clarity and stay focused.

Once again, do not give your power away - simply get the information and see how it fits for You!

Like most women now a days, I certainly find myself being busy, productive, and having a few plates to juggle. The temptation to multitask is very strong.

However, is mutltitasking really to my benefit?

Having multitasked for many years I found that I frequently felt torn in many directions at once, and expended more energy and attention units then actually necessary.

Of course doing laundry while coooking dinner is a no brainer, but I am speaking here of multitasking while doing work that requires attention to details.

What I learned was the following:

The brain focuses on one thing at a time. To do more than one activity at once, you experience many starts and stops.

Frequently nothing gets done faster or better. Actually the chances of making errors increase.

The time needed to correct errors from multitasking take time to correct .

Multitasking can cause stress to the mind and body.

A body in stress releases cortisol. Do this often enough and you weaken your immune system and can cause yourself other health related problems as well.

One's ability to concentrate can diminish when attempting to multitask on a regular basis. It becomes difficult to concentrate when you keep interrupting yourself with something else.

Even though I know all this and have experienced it, I still get tempted on really busy days to multitask. Though not always easy or simple, I am working to do things more effectively and to let go of what is not necessary.

How about yourself? Do you multitask and how is it working for you?

Thoughts are powerful things and they actually have a great impact on your state of health, and in fact, on all areas of your life. You and only you can control your thoughts.

This may bring you a feeling of relief or it might really annoy you. It depends on what you are currently experiencing in your physical body.

Quantum physics have proven that thoughts are very powerful processes that help you create your life.

Therefore, it is logical to state that it is much easier to think positive, life enhancing thoughts, when we are feeling well in our body rather than when we are feeling sick.

If you want to be in a state where you can use your thoughts easily to help you create the life you desire - it is crucial that you do all you can do to maintain a state of physical well being. Feeling good will make the work of thinking in your desired direction, so much easier.

We have all had colds and flu. You know how much harder it is to feel positive during those times - let alone at times where you are experiencing more serious illnesses and disease.

If you can keep your physical body in a healthy state internally, and in good physical shape externally - you will feel much better and be able to think more powerful thoughts. You will then have a much greater chance of manifesting your desires more quickly and with greater ease.

So the point being - that it is to your advantage to keep as healthy as possible - you really have no choice if you in fact want to bring success, happiness, and wealth into your life.

N.B. - Remember being sick will make it harder for you to manifest but not impossible. If you are currently in a state where you do not feel well or you are experiencing health challenges - know that your thought processes can change that around.

However you have got to be willing to make conscious thinking a daily practice.

Several times a day, stop to think about the way you want to feel physically - bring about a strong burning desire in you to be well. From that burning desire, you will be able to think in the direction of your desires. There are fabulous books out there to help you with that process.

I would highly recommend Jerry and Esther Hicks' book - Money and the Law of Attraction - Learning to Attract Wealth, Health and Happiness. You will quickly come to understand that your state of health is crucial to your physical life experience and you will learn how to use your thoughts to be healthier.

I will end with this suggestion - Think thoughts of well being at the beginning of your day and several times throughout the day. Be very appreciative and grateful of your body for all that it is doing for you.

In gratitude that I can exercise and move my body every day.

I hope you can smell, and more importantly feel the wave of spring where ever you are.

This is an exciting time of year, with many forms of renewal on the way. Are you consciously tapping into that mass energy of renewal and using it to your benefit?

This is a time to let go of what is not serving you, and move into a direction that is more in harmony with your values and hence in a direction that brings you more joy. Though not always easy to do...

You most certainly need to make time for yourself and be there for yourself first - in order for you to be able to be there for your family, your loved ones, your business, your work.

Have a wonderful day,

Experiencing pleasurable moments and being truly happy are not synonymous in my mind.

There are many times in years gone by, where what I was experiencing at the moment was very pleasurable. I was spending time with people I love - I was outside with the sun shining brightly - I was eating my favorite foods - I was walking along the beach and so on... You get the picture, as you have had those moments yourself.

Yet, years ago, I was not always feeling happy on the inside, during those moments. There were occasions where I felt there was still something missing, though I could not necessarily describe that feeling or label the emotion.

With more observation and greater awareness, I came to see that there are many folks who have a life of pleasure - they are in a good position financially, they spend a lot of time in recreational activities, party a lot with friends, they go out to many events, yet they are not experiencing happiness.

On the other hand I have seen people who are not spending as much time in recreational activities, who are on purpose and doing work they love, who may have devoted their life to a cause that is dear to them. They get a lot done, are acknowledged in their particular field, yet they are not completely happy either.

So what is the secret to this feeling of happiness that we all seek?

I believe that being happy comes from doings things that bring you pleasure AND doing work (which really does not feel like work - because you enjoy it) that is in alignment with your purpose and your passion.

My question for you today is - Do you have all of your eggs in one basket - the pleasure basket or the being on purpose basket?

I know I have been caught with most of my eggs in one basket - the work basket. I think that is where most folks land.

If that is your situation, what can you do to bring more harmony between the moments of pleasure and the being on purpose?

Actually that could be the topic of an entire book. However, you can start by brainstorming a list of things that bring you pleasure (a long list) and then schedule some of those things into your day, week, and months. Give yourself permission to just be, to have fun and to lighten up ( it took me a long time to get this one - yet it was worth figuring it out ;)).

"He who allows his day to pass by without practicing generosity and enjoying life's pleasures is like a blacksmith's bellows: he breathes but does not live." Author unknown

On the other hand if you have no shortage of pleasurable moments but you would like to enjoy your work more, start by getting to know yourself better. Take the time to discover what it is that gives you that get up and go fuel. From there, start seeing how you can move more in that direction, one step at a time, till you get to the point where you are making income while doing something that allows you to feel on purpose, and that feeds your body, mind and soul.

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."
Albert Schweitzer

A book you may want to check out on the topic of happiness is - Happier by Tal Ben Shahar.

I have discovered happiness when pursuing my purpose, which is to help others discover their power within, and making sure the pleasurable moments (big or small) are part of every day.

Good day to You!

If you are spending most of your time in the doing energy, because let’s face it – in our western world the doing energy has been more valued up till now – sometimes you can get your self feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, tired and not feeling very good. Actually, your work environment often plays on your sentiments of guilt in order to get you to do more. That doesn’t help you either.

I have found that in order to increase one's level of personal empowerment, increase the feeling of internal peace and harmony, so one can in turn actually be more creative - you will need to bring into your daily life a Being practice.

Personally, when I take time at the beginning of my day to just Be, it actually sets the tone for the day, and helps me get focused, be concentrated, gain clarity, and in turn actually be more productive.

At the end of my day when I am being reflective, and writing, it gets me in a quieter place, it brings me inner peace once again, and therefore I can enjoy my night’s rest.

Have some fun discovering what will bring you that feeling of inner peace and calm ... the results you will reap will amaze you.

Are you giving your power away while searching for happiness?

In today's world, women are actually in pursuit of happiness. There are books being written and there are seminars all over the world being given on the topic of happiness. Many women are currently experiencing a sense of emptiness, and they want to get rid of that sentiment.

One of the conclusions I have come to, as I am observing and studying successful people is that there is a clear difference between pleasurable moments and true inner happiness.

Pleasurable moments can be things such as travel, going out for a bike ride, reading a good book, playing with your children, what ever brings you pleasure.

However, a pleasurable moment is not the same thing as experiencing inner happiness, and self mastery. There are many individuals who have lots of pleasurable moments, and yet they still feel lost - they do not have that sense of purpose, or a direction in life.

On the other hand you have women who have discovered their purpose, who know there passion, they love their work and may in fact be committed to a particular cause and have devoted most of their time to it.

These ladies accomplish a whole lot and they have a certain sense of satisfaction, yet they may still be experiencing a sense of emptiness . They don't necessarily feel inner joy and happiness either.

So what is the answer?

What if there are two sides to the happiness scale?

I have come to believe that what brings people happiness, along with personal transformation and growth, comes from having balance between pleasurable moments and doing work that is in alignment with your true purpose.

Balance does not necessarily mean half pleasure or half work every day, every week, or every month. But rather that the two aspects are incorporated into your life.

So my question for you today is where do most of your eggs lie? Are they in the basket of seeking plearable moments, or are they in the basket of purposeful meaningful work? ;)

I think for many women, while they are nurturing their family, working in a demanding career, taking care of aging parents and so on... they probably spend most of their time in the work area of life.

Happiness is supposed to be part of the journey every day. You do not go and get happiness only at the end of your working career, at retirement, when your children are grown up, or when you finally get that new shiny object.

We are here on earth to be in joy.

If you want a fabulous resource, you can check out a great book by Tal Ben Shahar entitled, Happier.

Until next time - Seek to find some pleasurable moments while you work on your life purpose.

P.S. Yesterday with the encouragement of a friend, I went for a bike ride, something I had not done in 25 years ...and today with new confidence I went for a 3 hour ride along some fabulous nature trails...

This time spent in greenery, with the sun shining, and hearing the birds was the perfect simple pleasure to give my mind and soul an opportunity to gain clarity. Now I can get back to my purpose feeling rejuvenated!

Part of becoming all we can be is being in good physical health, and experiencing overall wellness.

"To understand water is to understand the cosmos, the marvels of nature, and life itself." Masaru Emoto in "The Hidden Messages of Water."

You are aware that you are made up of mostly water, however, have you actually stopped long enough to give that some serious thought, and see to it that you are well hydrated, in order to function optimally?

Personally, I went years where I did not consume enough water, and therefore experienced many of the symptoms of dehydration.

Slowly I started drinking more water, and last year I also learned the incredible value of adding a pinch of Himalayan salt (definitely not regular table salt), and 10 drops of trace minerals to my glass of water.

What a difference that has made to my sense of well being!

In my opinion, one of the most profound books on the topic of water is "The True Power of Water" by Masaru Emoto.

In his book Masaru not only describes the incredible properties of water and the effects water has on us and our health. But he also speaks of the effect each of us has on the water that surrounds us, and on the water within us.

That is right, you have an effect on the water around you and in you. Masaru's book is a very powerful and enlightening read.

This morning as I was taking a few moments to journal and to read - I had an AHA moment..

Whenever people are faced with changes in a relationship, they frequently ask themselves : Where did the love go?

I realized that love does not go anywhere. It has not evaporated... Just like the clouds that roll in to hide the sun, so do the moments of difficulty arise in relationships to obscure the love we once felt.

We must ask ourself what is permanent and what is temporary?

In the case of the sun and the clouds... the sun is permanent and the clouds, thunder and rain are temporary. However, it is inevitable and it is even a good thing for the clouds to come in...albeit at times it is darn inconvenient depending on what we have planned.

So in a case of a relationship, we must ask ourself: What is permanent in the relationship, and what on the other hand is inevitable and only temporary?

I would bet that I am not the only one who has already viewed at one point, the temporary creation of sorrow, grief, pain, anger, loneliness, as permanent and not as the temporary state it really is.

Just like we need to learn how to accept and flow with the weather changes, so we need to accept and learn how to flow with the temporary blows that occur in relationships. ( I am not referring here to cases of intentional harm/abuse that one human being inflicts on another - that is a completely different topic altogether).

Learning how to deal effectively with the changes that manifest in relationships is a skill we must all learn. And as we will do so, we will discover that love never really disappeared - it was always there - though it has transformed.

Love is part of a process that includes pain and sorrow. Resisting this can cause even greater sorrow. Yet, unless we learn this about love, we will not be able to take in the changes that life offers us, so that we can grow.

What else in life is temporary, and yet we may be led to believe that it is permanent? ;)

The following came across my desk, and I thought I would share, as you may find that it is a helpful way to start releasing what it is you fear and worry about. Enjoy handing over your concerns. :)

Surrender Box: A Place For Worries and Fears

by DailyOm

There are times when our minds become too full. Our to-do lists, worries, plans, and dreams may be so crowded together in our heads that we don’t have room to think. We may believe that we are somehow taking care of our desires and concerns by keeping them at the forefront of our minds. In maintaining our mental hold on every detail, however, we may actually delay the realization of our dreams and the resolution of our worries because we won’t let them go. At times such as these, we may want to use a surrender box.

A surrender box allows us to let go of our worries and desires so the universe can take care of them for us. We write down what we want or need to happen and then place the note into a box. By writing and placing our thoughts in the box, we are taking action and letting the universe know we need help and are willing to surrender our feelings. We give ourselves permission to not concern ourselves with that problem any longer and trust that the universe is taking care of it. You may even want to decorate your box and place it in a special place. Your surrender box is a sacred container for your worries. Not only do you free up space in your mind by letting go of our worries and desires and dropping them into your surrender box, but you are giving your burden over to a higher power. Once we drop our worries and desires into the surrender box, we free our minds so we can be fully present in each moment.

Surrendering our worries and concerns and placing them in the hands of the universe doesn’t mean that we’ve given up or have been defeated. Instead, we are releasing the realization of our desires and the resolution of our worries and no longer concerning ourselves with their outcomes. It’s always fun to go back and pull the slips of paper out of the box once your requests have been granted. And it’s amazing how quickly problems go away and dreams come true when we finally let go and allow a higher power to help us.

Have yourself a truly magical day!

Making time for fun in our personal development plan is crucial to our success. This was a hard concept for me to learn.

"Celebrate your success. Find some humor in your failures. Don't take yourself so seriously. Loosen up, and everybody around you will loosen up. Have fun."
Sam Walton

In my recent travels, I was reminded of a critical element of life, taking the time to have FUN, and making the daily tasks enjoyable.

Did you know that laughter and fun help you to not only increase your sense of wellbeing but also increase your wealth creation?

Canon said "Why would people want buy from you if they don't enjoy doing so? Making what you have to sell fun to buy is simply taking the whole process one step further. If you can make your customers laugh, and excite them with your vision of what life can be, they are not going to walk into your outlets, but run into them. Running a successful business should be fun for you, and there's every reason why you should be able to communicate that sense of fun to your customers. Certainly, if you aren't having fun, you probably aren't running a successful business."

Having been a serious, detail oriented person for the majority of my working life, I appreciate being reminded to let go and choose the Fun path.

One of the essential elements in maintaining a positive healthy mindset is to take time out for laughter and fun. Any time we get too rigid about anything, even if it is something for our own good like exercise and time spent learning, we end up being too attached to a particular outcome.

This can also lead to feeling weighed down and walking around with a sensation of heaviness. This heavy feeling or vibration also gets communicated to others when we are interacting with them. People are already overburdened and overwhelmed; they certainly are not looking for more of the same from you or me.

Most of the things that occur in our life are there to teach us a lesson. Our leader Ellie Drake said, "We will probably be laughing at this same stuff in 3-5 years from now, so why not laugh a little now." :^O

Sharing laughter after a painful moment lets the individuals be more in balance. If you have just been through something painful - laughter can add balance to your perspective and prevent you from taking on false beliefs around what has just occurred.

Also having fun things to look forward to, and planning these events keeps people young.

Enjoy your week and do sneak in a moment or two of pure pleasure! ;)
