Here it is! My very first YouTube video (and there will be more to come). I wrote and recorded this song last year and completed the slideshow this week. The slideshow features 3 photos of my teenage daughter. This song speaks of our impact in the world which is amazing and beautiful. Enjoy!
Here is another music slideshow/video to one of my original songs Fearless. This song has become my personal manifesto. I must admit, when I wrote these lyrics (from a journal entry) I was a bit frightened of the song. I reasoned... If I sing these words, that means I'll have to live up to them! (UH OH!) I have discovered that the more I sing this song, the more I LIVE the lyric. The more WILLING I am to push outside the comfort zone, the more WILLING I am to "go for it" --no excuses!
A few interesting tid-bits.
The vocal was recorded on a vintage microphone that used to belong to the "queen of soul" Aretha Franklin - how cool is that?
I originally was going to "bury" this song as the last track on my CD but my co-producer (Jody) kept telling me it was the title Track of the CD. He was right!
There are 3 photos of me in the slideshow, but in one of them I am upstaged by a dolphin & my smiling daughter.

About the Song
I wrote the song I Rise in You for a church service a few years ago. It was performed in the meditation gardens at my church with a band and full choir singing along. The inspiration for the song follows:
I was walking in the meditation gardens after church one windy March day in Virginia. Although it was still cold and windy, I noticed that the ground beneath my feet (which had been frozen solid a few weeks prior) was now feeling soft and pliable. I also observed the trees that had appeared dead, barren and grey a few weeks earlier, were starting to show new signs of life. Spring was coming! I thought to myself... The gardens have survived the Winter!
Then I thought to myself... SO HAVE I (figuratively speaking).
Years ago I used to suffer from depression. When depression fell on me, I felt powerless and trapped. That time in my life feels like a distant memory to me now. I am grateful I have found balance, joy and a zest for life! My "season of Winter" has passed into a wonderful Spring! I have written many love songs before, but this is my first love song to the Creator.
I recorded the song last year (with the help of a few friends) and released it on my recent CD Fearless (which is full of motivational and inspirational songs).
Since we will be RISING together in October I thought you might appreciate this.
