Have you ever been ill or experienced an accident that necessitated a trip to your local hospital? I know…lots of horror stories circulate about such an experience. Don’t always believe everything you hear…
I just had that “up close and personal” experience with the local ER after a fluke accident with our playful and very strong Golden Retrievers….We were out for our daily late afternoon walk on a brisk and windy day and the dogs were rambunctious and running around…being dawgs….
Then whack! Before I knew it, they ran into me from behind (160 lbs+ of Golden Retrievers at full run) and the asphalt road became friendlier than I wished it to be… Lots of pain and dizziness followed, so my loving family picked me up, put me in the car and off we went for quality time with the local ER.
Early evening in the ER is always a busy and hectic time…yet the staff at our local ER was warm, friendly and most helpful providing icepacks and warm blankets which eased the waiting time…
Getting through the examination and the X-Rays was quality time that I do not care to repeat again but the nurses were angels. They were warm, loving and caring for their patients…lots of positive and loving energy swirled around me.
It was quite a party, more nurses and staff kept coming into my room to see what all the laughter and joyful interaction among the women was all about…even though I was in great physical and emotional pain, I was laughing, joking and focused on the moment with a positive energy that was infectious to everyone (even my husband! – where was the Flip video camera???). Even through the pain of dressing the fractured arm (pain meds greatly assisted), remaining cheerful eased the challenge of the situation.
It was a valuable lesson providing confirmation that we can get through anything in life when we remain focused and surround ourselves with warm love and positive energy. We are empowered to overcome many trials and tribulations to go forward with the new beginnings presented each day.
As I was being wheeled out to go home, an especially loving nurse said “You have been a special patient – being brave and making everyone else laugh and feel better, when it is our job to help you.” I proudly replied “Yes, I am a BraveHeart Woman”.
We have heard it said, “Jump and develop your wings as your fly”…, in the jumping process I have one clipped wing…but only for a moment in time. My “flight” continues as I move forward on my journey.
BraveHeart Women…THANK YOU for all the encouraging support !!! This is EXACTLY what our community is all about…love, support, giving, inspiration, encouragement, gratitude, joy, laughter…and all shared from the heart.
I have loved your beautiful comments on the first blog…An Emergency Room Experience…and I am grateful for your caring support. It has been an interesting process the last 2 days but I am learning how to do everything with one hand (a fractured elbow certainly limits functionality). I have to say that keyboarding with a clipped wing is quite an experience, however does provide the opportunity to think about the many things generally taken for granted each day.
Okay…now by popular demand…here is the “grounded goose” the day after ER. Day 2 photo is not publishable….!
An afternoon walk with the lovable furry members of your family opens an opportunity for more adventure than you sometimes expect. If you read my earlier blogs…An Emergency Room Experience…and…Real Inspiration in Action…you shared in the “excitement” of a recent walk with our two Golden Retrievers. What an Experience…!!!
I have now discovered a new line of “sports attire” especially for the dog walk experience on a cold day. It is one-size-fits-all and very protective. Envision if you will the well-padded…for the utmost in safety…round Michelin man of the tire commercials. (The actual image cannot be included here as it is a copyrighted logo for that corporation.) But the thought does bring a smile to your face.
So in lieu of that image, here is a second idea.
To the New Beginnings and meaningful adventures of your life…
St. Valentine’s Day…. the special day set aside to express your LOVE and celebrate those loving relationships in your life. It is important to recognize your loved ones on this holiday of hearts, however may we all remember to continue sharing that love and caring with open hearts every day of the year.
This quote is from the beautiful Valentine card from my LOVE today… “I promised to love you forever -- To stay by your side through good times and bad. It was the biggest promise I ever made. Yet each year, as forever draws closer, I’m struck by how simple it has been… Because marrying you was the smartest thing I ever did.”
We have often heard that “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Having said that and in sharing this photo with you, it is not necessary for additional written content. The TRUE LOVE of my life, my amazing husband and soul-mate, washed and dried my hair for me, a gift of TRUE LOVE. (One “wing is slinged” as you may recall from my previous blogs.) As you can see, his Masters Degree is NOT in hair-styling !!!

It is a beautiful spring afternoon here in Northern Georgia… the sky is blue, the birds are singing, the trees are bursting in white and pink blossoms. A perfect day for a walk to breathe in the New Beginnings of the season !!! It was time for me to leave the cocoon of fear and, with a Brave Heart, go for a walk with my dogs, Sadie and Rascal.
For those who are new to the community, catch up on the saga of the now infamous (?) event in my life that occurred 6 weeks ago. The incident was an “obstacle” in my daily routine that has created greater appreciation for the value of positive energy and focused intention, plus the power of laughter and joy in all of life. Read An Emergency Room Experience… followed by REAL Inspiration in Action… and then Fashion Statement for a Walk with Your Dogs… You will laugh along with me in the next blog, A Gift of TRUE LOVE...
Fear has a way of sneaking in and becoming an obstacle in our path… getting in our way, if we allow it to do so. Have you developed the awareness to notice when something gets in your way? Recognize these feelings before they become obstacles to your growth, step out of your comfort zone to deal with them and move forward to becoming the BraveHeart Woman you were born to be.
To all your New Beginnings each day. Linda Kay Holden New Beginnings
The story of Mothers Day is the story of firm determination of a loving daughter from West Virginia, Anna Jarvis, who resolved to pay tribute to her mother, Mrs. Anna M. Jarvis, and all other mothers of the world.
She is recognized as a ‘Founder of Mothers Day’ and ‘Mother of Mothers Day’, although never a mother herself. What an appropriate title to define this remarkable woman’s devotion to her mother and to motherhood in general.
Anna kept the word of her activist mother, Mrs. Anna Marie Reeves Jarvis, who once wished that someone should provide mothers their due recognition. After her mother’s death in 1905, Anna's determination became a passion and she, along with several supporters, started lobbying for the official holiday on Mothers Day by writing letters to the people in power.
To celebrate Mothers Day, Anna began sending her mothers favorite flowers, carnations, in her local church requesting people to wear them in honor of their mothers. The idea gained immense popularity over the years and in 1910, West Virginia became the first state to recognize the Mothers Day holiday. On May 8, 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a Joint Resolution designating the second Sunday in May as Mothers Day.
To All Mothers, Grandmothers, Godmothers, Aunts, and Caregivers of children…
Celebrate a Joyful and Happy Mothers Day….
So many wonderful BraveHeart Women have been creating blogs about relationships and marriage lately…. sharing your thoughts and inspiration from your hearts.
I wish to share from my heart to yours a favorite piece that I found many years ago that has been beautifully framed and placed where I can see it every day. While it speaks of marriage, I feel it applies to all relationships on different levels to include strength, courage, values, respect, gratitude, appreciation and love.
The Art of Marriage
A good marriage must be created. In the marriage the little things are the big things…
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once each day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right person -- It is being the right partner.
In Gratitude and Appreciation for all the beautiful relationships in my life…
WOW! What an exhilarating way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Running the rapids and soaring down falls and over rocks is quite the adventure!
The last river rafting experience my husband and I had was in Colorado about 5 years ago. It was a time when most rivers were running low…but there was enough action for a first time out!
Our kids invited us to go with them on Sunday.…my 19 (almost 20) year old son and his girlfriend along with some of their friends. Us “older folks” did very well maneuvering the raft, surprising the younger crowd I believe.…and…we didn’t fall in like someone we know. However we did get very wet….actually the kids seemed to enjoy getting me extra wet!
The Nantahala River in North Carolina runs through some beautiful mountains and gorges…and this time of year it is full of running rapids and falls, with lots of rocks/boulders and loads of places in the fast current to travel sideways and backwards. We tried it all !!!
I must admit….it is a very strange and un-nerving feeling moving backwards on a moving river and not able to see where you are heading. Best part of the entire day was... we allowed our “child” side out to run and play, and we really enjoyed the experience.
We were reminded of an important joy and privilege in our lives. That is, when your child or children ask you to go share an experience with them, no matter what age they are, be sure to take the time to go!
Beautiful memories are created to last a lifetime and your children will enjoy a look at another side of their parents.
The holiday season is a joyous time of celebration, love, giving, receiving and sharing with others. As we celebrate Christmas, let us remember the beautiful feelings and joyous fun we share at this special time of the year.
Christmas is…
Loving…. unconditionally. Celebrating Life…. with our family and friends. Gratitude…. giving thanks for our blessings. Being selfless…. doing for others purely for the joy of giving. Joy…. savor every moment of happiness and delight. Appreciation....be thankful for your new beginnings each day. Peace…. the tranquility of harmony.
May the spirit of Christmas fill you with love, gratitude, joy, abundance and peace today and always. Let the inspiration and miracles we experience during this beautiful season continue in abundance into the new year and inspire our journey together.
Merry Christmas….Happy Holidays to all of you, my BraveHeart Sisters!!!

As we travel through life, we experience many mountains and valleys on our journey. We learn about joy and celebration along with sadness and separation. As we experience these life events, our choices make all the difference in the energetic vibration held in that space at that time.
If we remain grounded in our purpose and breathe in the inspiration of our powerful energy, we choose the sacred space of joy over sadness….of celebration over regret. Often it takes more courage and strength than we feel we have, but the power is there within us waiting to awaken.
I have just experienced the celebration of a joyful and appreciated life….the transition of a beautiful soul from her earthly life to her heavenly existence. The sacred space of celebration at her graveside services was the most beautiful, peaceful, joyful experience ever shared at such services by all who attended.
Stories of inspiration, funny and meaningful quotations, experiences of learning and sharing were spoken by dear friends and family. This special time resulted in surprising and comforting laughter, tears of joy and moving recollections of remembrances shared by many loved ones.
So many stories bubbled up that I had not previously heard. At the end, everyone was smiling and full of the warmth and joy of the moment….of memories of the life we were celebrating.
This beautiful service created a joyful memory that will be cherished by everyone there. The service was a celebration of life….the life of my dear Mother. She will be remembered by so many for a very long time. She was the “Yankee woman” (born in the state of Pennsylvania) who became a “Southern Belle”….a prim and proper woman….lovingly known as the “Cadillac Lady”. A woman who loved to dance, she is now dancing with my Dad through the rose gardens of Heaven.
What a beautiful legacy…!!!

For any of you who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one, this message will have deep meaning to inspire you and fill you with joy. I received this poem today and I lovingly share it with you.
I give you this one thought to keep I am with you still; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift, uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not think of me as gone, I am with you still, in each new dawn.
