Parents, are you trying to figure out how best to educate your children about money? I had the pleasure of interviewing Maria Smalley, Ph.D., a BraveHeart Woman, mother and entrepreneur about this topic. See the video by clicking here.

Many parents struggle with distribution of their own finances. Many times we earn and spend money without a plan, so when it comes to teaching their children it often becomes something that occurs without consciously considering what habits we are teaching our children. Teaching children good financial habits from the start will benefit them throughout their lives. When I was a child, I wish I had a system like Maria Smalley has developed for her children.

Maria is teaching her children about money and how to manage it with a wonderful system which is relatively easy to implement. The children learn the importance of investing, saving, giving and have money left to play with.

Each child has four accounts they divide and deposit any money they receive from avenues such as allowance, gifts and odd jobs.

* Financial Freedom Account (investing)- 10%
* Savings Account-20%
* Gifting Account- 10%
* Fun Money Account- 60%

Do you have a system which you use to teach your children about money? I would love to hear what you do and any stories on successes you and your children have had with your system. Teaching our children about money is a gift that will keep on giving…

Hey there!
I wanted to share a great tool with you to reach out and connect with people. I had been hearing about a tool called Twitter. I really did not "get" how this was going to help me. I saw people basically 'texting' things like "Heading to the store for milk". Not that I don't care, but really- I don't care about THAT!"

Yeah, there are some people that are just filling time, maybe thinking they are connecting with me like that, BUT~ there are some very savvy, very focused people using this tool and I have gain from their vast experiences and talents!

Follow the right people! Follow people in your niche! Don't feel you have to follow everyone who follows you! Connect with people, share info and don't make it all a sales pitch. It is an amazing tool in the hands of the right people.... AND~ don't be afraid to unfollow people!

Look forward to 'seeing' you on Twitter.com! I go by the handle PassionParent (of course).

So many parents are finding themselves in a situation where they are faced with parenting about a weak economy or dealing with other situations where our children are asking questions.... How do you answer when the winter of night feels like it will last forever?

You remind them that Spring follows fall... that daylight follows darkness.

Here is a great interview with motivational speaker, Anthony Robins on NBC's The Today Show.

I love where he answers the question from the listener who asks about discussing the economic climate with her children!

I resently read this interesting article in the WallStreet Journal.  I thought you all might find what we are doing here on the BraveHeart Women's site VERY interesting!

In America today, there are almost as many people making their living as bloggers as there are lawyers. Already more Americans are making their primary income from posting their opinions than Americans working as computer programmers or firefighters.

Paid bloggers fit just about every definition of a microtrend: Their ranks have grown dramatically over the years, blogging is an important social and cultural movement that people care passionately about, and the number of people doing it for at least some income is approaching 1% of American adults.

The best studies we can find say we are a nation of over 20 million bloggers, with 1.7 million profiting from the work, and 452,000 of those using blogging as their primary source of income. That's almost 2 million Americans getting paid by the word, the post, or the click -- whether on their site or someone else's. And that's nearly half a million of whom it can be said, as Bob Dylan did of Hurricane Carter: "It's my work he'd say, I do it for pay."

What true patience is, is knowing that you want it and knowing that it's coming and actually enjoying the unfolding along the way. Understand that you never get it done. So you might as well be patient. You never get it done, because every time you want and receive, you also receive a new perspective from which to want. Life is a constant unfolding of new desires and then a constant alignment to those desires.

Excerpted from the workshop in Larkspur, CA on Saturday, August 30th, 1997

Our Love,
Jerry and Esther

I loved this quote today when it came to me in my email box. I love that it gave me permission to always want more "...you always receive a new perspective from which to want."

I used to feel guilty when I would be happy with what I had, had achieved, but then wanted something more. I thought I needed to be content with what I had. Some how it seemed ungrateful to want more..... nothing is more backwards than that thinking!

If God, Source, or whatever you call the Divine is truly all powerful and good, doesn't it make sense that this Divine Being would want more for you? The more your have, the more abundance you have flowing through you, the greater good you are to society! The more you can do for others... not just money, but time, love, compassion, giving....

Obviously, it is not just in the having money for we see many who have money who are truly not happy. We see those that have little money, but have abundance. It is in the wanting to be more, live more and in the appreciation that we are bountiful! On that note, I accept abundance and prosperity to flow through my life! I WANT MORE AND AM ENJOYING THE JOURNEY TO IT!

Have an abundant day!
