Forgiveness Precedes Releasing & Moving Forward

Posted Feb 27, 2011 03:23 PM
How many of us hold on to experiences from our past and stuff it deep down hoping it never resurfaces? How many of us have attempted to release those unwanted feelings and images that keep us stuck? I've learned that repressing my unwanted and negative feelings from past experiences has held me back and kept me at a place where I was wanting to leave behind. Once I began the process of forgiving myself and others is when I noticed a "shift" in my perceptions, as well as progress in my business.

I had been holding onto resentment and disappointment for too long and worse, supressing those feelings! As a result, I kept repeating the same old thoughts and producing the same old results, which was like running on a treadmill and going nowhere. However, what I also realized was that I had to go through these uncomfortable feelings and situations in order to finally learn that it was ALL PART OF THE PLAN!

I realized that I had actually gained so much from those experiences, even though at the time I couldn't understand why it was happening. I had fallen into the "drama" and was blinded to the "silver-lining" that existed. At the time, I was consumed by "being right" and "how could that person do that?!!!" I was in the "victim" mode and felt sorry for myself which totally took away my power and ability to move foward and make progress.

Now, I am continuing to remind myself to be grateful for what has happened because that experience has lead me to my Path! I am experiencing progress in my health and business! I am more Joyful and at Peace! I thank God for being patient with me and for allowing me to learn lessons and grow every moment.

So, my hope is that others will read this blog and ask themselves, "What feelings and experiences am I holding onto that are keeping me stuck?" Search within yourSelf and ask yourSelf what is the Higher Purpose in all of this "chaos"? I truly believe that EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON." Find the silver-lining surrounding the clouds, and you will be able to rise above the chaos that occurs in our lives. We all have chaos, it's how we choose to perceive and deal with it is what makes the difference between winners and strugglers.

Make your day an amazing day and SHINE YOUR LIGHT!

Aloha Barb!

Mahalo for reading my blog post and replying! I find it wonderful to be able to connect with other women from all over the world who have similar mindsets and goals. I look forward to the next informal gathering on Oahu!

For me, "chaos" means those moments where there are situations that occur that are negative, energy-draining, dramatic, etc. I think of "chaos" as being the opposite of "peace". There is "chaos" happening all around us, in the news (LIbya for example), maybe at home with a spouse or siblings, maybe at the workplace, maybe the people around us are going through difficult moments, etc. I guess I do use it more casually than the dictionary meaning. I hope my explanation helps to make it more clear of what I meant. Also, my generalization of "everyone" didn't include those who are at peace all the time. I definitely am not at peace all the time, but I am working on being at peace most of the time. :) Especially being a mommy of a toddler, I can't controll all situations and I've learned to just take deep breaths and not let "accidents" overwhelm me or upset me.

I have to end for now...my husband is wanting to use the computer...:)

I look forward to getting to know you better in this community!

Dear Alison,

This is a follow-on response post as I find that I can't "edit" a post that hasn't shown up yet ... ;) ...

Anyhoo, I should have done a little research before I posted my response post earlier, but ... I also prefer to post "spontaneously," so ... I can see the connection amongst the "Founding Members of the BHW Global Community" as opposed to the "Global BHW Community" ... I always thought it was a matter of English as a second language, but ... I can see that the reason I have never met you on the Blogs before is that your two prior Blog posts were before I even got active on the Blogs ... My FIRST Blog post was made after RISE! 2009 ...

I CAN SEE that there has been a lot of morphing ... Change IS good! ... :-D ... :-x ...

Dear Alison,

Thank you for sharing ... :-x ...

I have said many times that I wish I had the time to work on a dictionary of multiple meanings and making distinctions ... ;) ...

While I agree wholeheartedly with your statement above, I am not certain I can agree with "We all have chaos ... " ... Hmmm ... What does chaos mean? ... ?:| ...

I don't believe I have ever experienced "chaos" ... but, maybe I have ... To me, "chaos" means that there is a degree of "hectic-ness" and "confusion" ... and an element of "unruliness" ... While I have experienced the highs and lows of life and even experienced depression at times when almost everything didn't seem to work quite like I had planned, there was never "chaos" as I recall ... Maybe "confusion," but not the other elements of the word as it means to me, personally ...

Anyway, I agree with the main thought of your statement, but ... I had to weigh in on the word choice ... I happen to believe that in order to fully overcome, what word we choose to use may have an impact ... In short, I hope none of us experiences "chaos" as the word IMPLIES to me ...

Your photo suggests to me that you have most, if not everything, "under control" ... and the use of the word "chaos" is more "casual" than the word IMPLIES to me ...

BTW, you missed out on an informal BHW Gathering recently ... it would have been nice to have had you join us (I invited EVERY BHW who happened to see my response post) ... To me, it was like "old friends" meeting for lunch ... not like BHW who had never met in person before ... and ... the serendipitous moments were simply "precious" ... I believe that that IS the "magic" of Blogging and the internet ... and the connections we make here ... Although Brigitte had never blogged before, the connection made by way of Alison from Montreal (same name ... Hmmm ... spelled the same way ... Hmmm ....) was "instant" ... Quite interesting, really ... and oh sooo "natural" ...

Anyway, "silver linings" and "serendipitous moments" are everywhere IF we pay attention ... and I just saw this Blog post although I definitely don't see every Blog post ... and this is the first time I recall seeing one from you ... so, nice to meet you ... hope we can connect someday ... :-D ... :-x ...

With gratitude, respect, my love, and many blessings ... :-x ...

Barb
