Goals

Posted Aug 28, 2009 06:51 PM
I just attended a quick seminar by Dr. John Demartini, who was a teacher on the Secret. I learned so many things from last night. The one lesson that stood out for me was the lesson about congruency.

I realized that my goals must be congruent with my highest values. When it is incongruent, that's when I tend to beat myself up for not reaching it. I must be sure to set goals that match my highest values.

I must also set goals that are smaller in size that will help me get to my larger goals. For example, I am working on releasing over 100 pounds of excess weight. I must first focus on the little steps to get to there, such as, releasing 5 pounds at a time, and exercising a little bit more than before. If I can accomplish my little goals of watching what I eat and taking the time to do exercise, I know I will be able to reach my ultimate goal of losing over 100 pounds.

Hi Alison, Are you still trying to lose weight? I am back on that roller coaster again. I too need to lose weight. (100lbs) I think that much weight is too daunting so I agree, only I have been thinking 10 lbs at a time and instead of dieting we are trying to change what we eat so that we eat healthier. It seems to be working for now. Hope you have a nice day.

Alison,

First of all I bet that was a great seminar to attend. I have always thought he was a neat man on the Secret!

True also is not to focus on the whole 100 at once, but take the small steps and soon they will all add up to what your goal is. One of my favorite mottos is "for what it will make of me". I often use this when I am in the grocery store or at a resturant. Keeps me aware of my choices.

Wish you were coming to RISE so we could connect in person again! Give Kia and Dean a Hug from here!:-x

Hi Alison,

I am pleased to hear you were able to carve out some time for yourself to go to the seminar. I know how busy you are being a wife, a new mommy and doing your business.

I have a tendency to set huge goals and beat myself up for not doing them TODAY. I used to make an impossible list for one day. Now, I break everything down....I have all sorts of lists.....I have my own system that lends itself to one small step at a time. I never finish things in the time I dream of, which is immediately, but I do accomplish them. I have my "top 3" and more often than not I get them done......this gives me a feeling of motion, momentum. I also breathe and remind myself I love what I am doing. If I dont love what I am doing, then I need to examine it...as you said....is it congruent?....because the resistance could be the simple fact that it is not in line with my purpose and therefore unnecessary. The resistance isnt always about my fears.

I love you Alison.....and miss you. Will you be at RISE?

Love:-x
