Teams In Our Fast Paced World!

Posted Apr 28, 2009 07:03 AM
Hi-

I remember back on the farm years ago the team work that went on day after day during the spring, summer and fall. (Winter was a time of Planning). Always something to do.

In the spring, summer and fall we would all get up when the sun did (very early). After a very hearty breakfast, together, discussing what needed to be completed during the day and who would be doing what we all scurried (sometimes shuffled) out the door to get the work done.

You see, in nature, when the sun is shining and the weather is good the harvesting is being done by everyone.

Some of us had the dubious pleasure of picking weeds in acres of garden and making large meals for the harvesters in the fields far from the farmhouse.

Others were on machinery or digging stumps, etc. Hard physical labour. That sun, sometimes during the heat of the day, was somewhat unbearable.

By the end of a long hard day of working together as a team we would sit at dinner and talk about the accomplishments we had throughout the day and all the wonderful food we were creating for others and the winter months ahead.

It was both a challenge and a reward.

Teams have not really changed all that much from back then.

To have a really successful team - Where two or more are gathered - It is important to consult, empower each other, and get the work done (Action).

If you are part of the team and want a harvest at the end of your day it is up to you to make it happen.

As you move forward in your day today reflect on what you really want to create? Who will help you make it happen? Who will do what? Then move into ACTION to make it happen. 'We reap what we sow.'

At the end of your day, remember the most important part of your day is to celebrate with your team all you have completed and the joy you had in doing it!

Building Strong Teams Today - One Step At A Time,

Judy, you've hit the essence of teamwork. I was raised on the farm, and every person, including small children were part of the team. We could carry water jugs to the people working in the field, if nothing else. Necessity as found on the farm made teamwork imperative to survive and thrive.

Do you and others think that somewhere in the middle here (in the emerging society of last several decades and even now) true teamword diminished and kinda got lost? As people became more 'independent' ??

Maybe we are seeing a resurgence of teams as 'communiities' and 'tribes' are appearing and beginning to flourish?

Perhaps we are on the verge of again coming together to survive and thrive, and have joy and fun. I hope so!

Be interesting to hear thoughts from others on this.
