Don't Stare at the Closing Door Too Long!

Posted Mar 31, 2009 02:57 PM
"Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing, that we see too late the one that is open." Alexander Graham Bell

This quote applies to a health challenge I have been dealing with for a few years.

I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. The physician I had only offered me drugs that had many side effects. Because I was not willing to take them he said there was nothing else he could do to help me. I have been on my own searching for ways to reverse it or at best stabilize it. Being that I do not have a medical background I didn't have much success. All the while I am losing more bone density.

I have come to realize that I was focusing on having the disease and not moving forward by taking charge of my own health. I am happy to report that I have found a physician that is interested in my total health and has experience in the alternative and conventional treatment of osteoporosis.

To relate to the quote; the closed door that I was staring at was staying with a physician that didn't have what was right for me.

I am trusting that I am not too late on seeing the door that was open and am on my way to having strong bones.
The best part of my story is the person that was at the open door was literally my next 'door' neighbor.
What is the saying 'If it was a snake it would have bitten me'

My next scan isn't until Oct. 2009. I will share my great results with you then.

Pawsitively yours,
Audie

Audie,
Your message to not stare too long at a closed door is a deep and fabulous lesson.

The past 30 days have been some of the worst days of my life. However, I chose to not spend time wallowing in them. I consciously made the decision to move forward.

The issues kept piling up. One by one I looked for an open door instead of looking at the one closing.

If I would have stared at the closing doors, I would be very depressed right now, however, I am joyous and happy in knowing that the next level is coming and great things are yet to come.

Thank you for your post.

Good Evening Audie,
I think that my thinking "ain't so good" at times. I did the 'stare too long'. I was gaining density with great progress and in deciding to "save some money", I quit taking a natural remedy about 6 months back. Two weeks ago, I fail backwards and now have 3 compressed fractures in the Lumbar. OUCH! *#@!*** I went to my Dr. yesterday and his first question, "Why did you quit a product that was working for you?!!" My savings was far more painful than what I gained in my savings.
Because I also sell the product, if you want to contact me via e-mail, I will give you the name and order numbers for it if you are interested. I believe in naturals vs Rx when it is possible. It worked great for me - Today, I have ordered it again and will get back on it hoping to see the results (open doors) next. Saving money to retire isn't any good if we are too crippled up to spend it! :( Dah!
Blessings,
Linda

Hi Lesley,

I lovingly encourage you to seek other alternatives to achieving strong bones. There is so much out there that can benefit you.... be your own advocate.

Hi Audie,

I love your "don't stare at the open closing door too long". That puts a real mental image in my head, and I will pass along your words of wisdom.

It is so great to hear that you have found someone to work with you on alternatives. I have been taking prescription medication for this condition, and do not wish to going forward. You have inspired me, and we all know your next bone scan will reveal great news!

With love,

Lesley

Dearest Audie,

I'm so glad that you found the door and opened it. You will not regret listening to your body, educating yourself, and finding the right practitioner(s)/modalities for you.

By making the decision to trust yourself, you are being your own best friend. It inspires others to do the same.

Thank you for sharing your story Audie.

Sending Love and Light,

Congratulations Audie,

There are a variety of lessons in your story, and I appreciate each one.
- The importance of seeking a second opinion is re-enforced in this experience.
- Your strength at just saying "No" to pharmaceuticals that will give you unwanted side effects, and probably marginal assistance, is to be applauded!
- Your awareness that a more suitable solution was within reach - even under your nose - and when you became open to it, it snapped into focus.
- Your generosity in sharing this story with us - many of whom are staring at doors that are closing - is something I am very grateful for!

So congratulations Audie for listening to you body and your heart! May you always be very dense!

You are a true and valued friend! :-x And Pawsitively delightful!

Love you,
Linda
Audie, this is a great attitude.. i am a holistic practitioner in training and it all begins in the belief that we can as a 'whole' move forward.. a lot of it is believing that you can be well first and then yes, that door opens..
i have studied osteoporosis. let me know if you want me to look through my books again and pass on a few tips. i especially love herbs for most illnesses and hope to be an herbal consultant soon though i have already played the role with family and friends and love it! :) it comes natural for me as i love to research .. i believe you will not only walk through that open door but you will live into a life more bolder than you can imagine.. :) its very inspiring how we can take a challenge and our Spirit causes us to rise in spite of! much luv, Jen
Thanks Audie, you make a great point and I know that your next scan will be exceptional.
