Have you heard that the ball that drops in New York's Time Square on New Year's Eve will be green this year? No, not green in color, but green in terms of energy efficiency. According to a report on CNN, the lighted ball that drops at the stroke of midnight in Times Square Thursday night will be 78% more energy efficient than the lighted ball of 2007.

Organizers claim the energy the ball takes to light for one hour is equivalent to the same amount of energy it takes to light 2 home ovens.

Join in at 11:59 p.m., as the ball begins its descent and millions of voices unite to count down the final seconds of the year, and celebrate the beginning of a new year full of hopes, challenges, changes and dreams.

Here's to 2010!

Very interesting! We visited New York this year and I wonder what it would be like to be in Times Square for the New Year. It must be very exciting!
