Got the Beat?

A Cockatoo from New Zealand named Snowball follows a musical beat at different tempos.

I wonder if he gives lessons!!!

Hi Audie;
I too am a "bird lover" and have 10 at present time. I had two double yellow head amazon's but just recently lost one. It was not a good time around our house - for sure. I have pictures of him reading my script that we did when making calls for our Multi-level marketing. He learned mine, letter perfect and I have pictures of him bobbing his head as he said "Hi, this is Linda with .... Some evenings when I did training calls, he mocked me so loud that it was difficult to keep the attention of my teams. Who is that!? Just my bird, really - does he???
This was irritating at times but how I wish that I still had him. The other one calls out to people but will not converse. Clancy talked to everyone and had an amazon of personality. He sang the old song "Jesus loves me - changing it to Jesus loves you" and "You Are My Sunshine" and "Deep in the Heart of Texas" followed up with a hardy laughter. They are amazing. I have a pic of him on my blog. He is sitting on my husbands knee outside in the sunshine. He loved going for walks. He even put his wings in form of praying when we said the blessing or when I bathed him. Gotta love the birds.
I write a lot while listening to the coo of my doves. (outside on sunny days) There is a lot of insight, inspiration and peace listening and loving our birds.
Right now, I am TRYING (without much luck) to teach my parrotlets to talk. They look just like a parrot only about two in a half inches tall.
Well, I am going to turn in for today. Thanks for sharing, that was quite cute.
Linda
Robin,

That must have been a fun and interesting party!:-D

Hi Audie,

This is so cute. I photographed a party once and they had these parrots there for the guests to take photos with. There was a live band at the party and one of the parrots did the same dance, in fact, he looked exactly like this guy.

Thanks for bringing me back to that moment.

His name is Dooley. He turned 7 on May 2. He is my "son" and he is truly inspiring most of the time...tee hee hee. He has his moments, just as we do. He talks a lot and sings on occasion. He has happy birthday down very well, singing and whistling.

I had a cockatiel for 18, almost 19 years, and when he passed, Dooley continuously called for him and and said "I love you Q.P. (QP is the cockatiel"s name) He must know I am writing about him, because he just said "I love you Dooley Myers". Now he is calling the blackbird... an outdoor bird or birds that wait for me to come outside, when I take my break, and feed them bread or seeds, or grains.

He actually carries on conversations, sentences in fact. I know he thinks and he does respond to me and many of the neighbors who stop in.

When I have been having a challenging moment or day, he will say "I'm joy", I'm Love", "God in Me", "I Love You" and more....that perks me right up and is a GREAT reminder to "wake up" in that moment. I guess, my point here, is he "feels" and knows how to bring my awareness to the forefront. COOL!

When I am recording for my radio station, he sometimes can be heard in the background doing a whistle or some kind of sound. I sometimes edit it out and sometimes I don't ... depends on if it fits what I am recording. Many times it fits and seems to add value to the flow of the message, info spot ad or whatever it is I may be doing.

I could go on with all sorts of stuff that he has done or said, but I'll leave that for another time.

When I can, I will add a picture of him.

Animals, are here to teach us, if we will listen.
He's training me quite well.

Thanks Audie for the acknowledgement and understanding of pets...family members.

With Love and Gratitude!

Hi Jane,

I would love to see your African Grey, they are so beautiful! What is his name?

I used to have a cockateil named Oliver, he could talk and whistle but he wasn't a dancer, very entertaining none the less.

Audie
Cool! I Love it! Someday I will capture my african grey on film. He's a dancer too! They keep us smiling don't they?

With Love and Gratitude!
