Moments of Human Kindness

Posted Apr 5, 2009 01:08 AM
"Everyone has to contribute to the common good.... when we're connected to others, we become better people." Randy Pausch

I was reading the Ladies Home Journal and came across these stories. They brightened my day and I trust they will do the same for you.

True Story; Molly O' Byrne, of New Fairfield, Connecticut, drops pennies and nickles on the ground. She hopes little kids will find them since she loved to find money as a child.

True Story; Madison Levitan, of Chappaqua, N.Y.works at a clothing store part-time. She says that when she goes into a dressing room and finds that a customer has taken the time to put the clothing back on a hanger, buttons buttoned and zippers zippered, she feels touched."It warms my heart because I know someone went out of their way to make my job a little easier."

It doesn't matter how large or small the act of kindness is, if you can touch another human in a positive way you have made an important impact in their life.

Consider your own potential to spread a little joy and happiness today.

If you have anecdotes like these feel free to share.

Stay Pawsitive,
Audie

Hi Tina,
Thanks for your comment.

It is kind of neat to think about all the people that you can touch each day in a positive way, much more fun than being grumpy!!!!

Hi Audie,
What a nice reminder that an act of random kindness can make all the difference sometimes in the day of someone else!

Thanks for the reminder! All the very best to you!

Hi Audie,
You made me think of my mom. She was always that person who would fold everything up or hang it up just like she found it.

She would even make sure the garments stacked on shelves were neat and all in order after she looked thorugh them. I always admired her for that.

Thanks for the memories -- and the tips for how all of us can serve each other better!

Hi Hedy,

Thank you for the acts of kindness website.

There should be a TV station with nothing but these kinds of stories available 24/7.

love,
Audie
Hi Linda,

I keep the thought that you made about not knowing what the other person might be going through, in my mind at all times.

It really does help in dealing with a not so pleasant person. I find that I can diffuse them just by smiling and in turn my day is less stressful. It is a Win Win situation.

Awareness transforms
"Always be kinder than necessary...
You never know what that person is going through."

"When I am "present", random acts of kindness flow from me. I distribute happiness...none so great as my own at lifting a heart!"

"You never know what one of your smiles will mean to someone's heart."

Audie, thank you for the encouragement to live with a generosity of spirit...

Love you,
Linda
Hi Linda,

This quote should be on everyone's mirror so they can look at it each morning. It gives me goosebumps to think what a positive change that could bring about.:-x

Hi Christine,

HI Audie....Thank you for this post.

it always amazes me to go into a dressing room that looks like a cyclone hit it...Duh??!!!

.is it something that if you find a penny and turn it over it means something really good for someone that finds it???....see a penny pick it up all day long you'll have good luck....turn it over....etc etc????

I like Lindas quote and wrote it down for the "Is It True?" Series...

I give and receive kindness in the moments taken to look someone in the eyes....stop....breathe and really listen....

Love you Audie,

Debra

Good Morning, Audie...

What a beautiful post for this bright and sunny Sunday morning !!! :-D

I am reminded of a quote that expresses this same unselfish energy:
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted"
-Aesop

To the joy and happiness of the day...:-x

This is such a sweet post, Audie.

It reminds me of the butterfly effect story where they follow a smile to a cab driver in New York and how it affects... well, a huge amount of people and I want to say even the weather!

I loved the movie Pay It Forward. That was a great example of thinking how to continue human kindness.....
