Today, March 8, millions of women across the globe will join in the 100th celebration of International Women’s Day.
Hundreds of events occur today to honor this special day, and also the entire month of March is dedicated to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women.

We’ve made monumental strides during the last 100 years, but there is more work to be done. Now is the time to renew your commitment to unlocking the potential of girls and women everywhere…to create awareness for all the opportunities of ‘new beginnings’ in every woman’s life.

The centennial celebration is the moment in time to honor all women…especially the oldest women you know.

Today is the day to make a difference, to think globally and to act locally.
Do your part to insure that the future of all girls and women everywhere is empowering, hopeful, equal and rewarding.
Make everyday special for women…an International Women’s Day!

Visit www.internationalwomensday.com for more information on the events near you, plus the CARE Conference in Washington, DC featuring Melinda Gates and Mrs. Laura W. Bush.

In Gratitude...:-x

Hi Linda,
I received this poem in an email today. Take what fits, leave the rest behind.
Happy International Women's Day!

The Wildfire of Feminine Freedom
by Tigris Powers

Some may ask you, woman of the world, to rise up and be strong.

Show you're as worthy as a man through hard work and discipline.

Multi-task and mother-load, forget what your grandmother was told.

Be a woman who will win awards and praise in her elder days.

You will hold fast to your dreams with vision and foresight,

sacrifice what you must to make the grade and win the fight.

Woman, I ask you this; if you follow this road will you find bliss?

You will struggle; you will fall, some days you won't want to climb at all.

Your children and your dreams standing at your feet with eyes so wide

you wonder why you have to work so hard to thrive and feel wholly alive.

Remembering those who have gone before, the brave ones and the bold,

you may realize that a woman does not work merely for achievement alone.

A woman is driven by the passion of her soul; a fire that not only burns

but also dances to a rhythm from another world, beyond the human-known.

It is a wild entity that churns within her being waiting to be embraced and set free.

If she strives to move forward with a hard, directed gaze, she may not feel it.

If she works like a dog to keep up with a man, the wildfire within will not dance.

A woman must first surrender to the zeal of her spirit, the force of life within.

Only then will she find meaning beneath the journey filled with endless tasks.

Only then will she move mountains, part the sea of inequality, and be seen.

Woman, I ask you, will you rise up and be strong; or will you surrender to the wild?

Will you step into the untamable inner-terrain that fuels your passion and your bliss?

Will you forget the gaping valley between a feminine peak and a masculine summit?

Become who you are without religion, without sin, without gender or discipline?

You will discover strength beyond measure, when you cultivate the flames of femininity.

If your goal is to give what is burning inside of you, your power will multiply infinitely.

Woman, you will be free, and your freedom will be measured not by your deeds.

Your freedom, wild woman of the world, is measured in what you are willing to claim.

Draw it in, fuel the fire, feel the undying heat of your creative power, and begin.

God plants beauty and greatness seeds equally in every human being.

A woman of the wild remembers how to make seeds grow.

She gets her hands dirty with compassionate desire that is rooted in trust.

Then she confidently and calmly waits for a miracle to bloom.
