WOW! What an exhilarating way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
Running the rapids and soaring down falls and over rocks is quite the adventure!

The last river rafting experience my husband and I had was in Colorado about 5 years ago. It was a time when most rivers were running low…but there was enough action for a first time out! ;)

Our kids invited us to go with them on Sunday.…my 19 (almost 20) year old son and his girlfriend along with some of their friends. Us “older folks” did very well maneuvering the raft, surprising the younger crowd I believe.…and…we didn’t fall in like someone we know. However we did get very wet….actually the kids seemed to enjoy getting me extra wet! :-p

The Nantahala River in North Carolina runs through some beautiful mountains and gorges…and this time of year it is full of running rapids and falls, with lots of rocks/boulders and loads of places in the fast current to travel sideways and backwards. We tried it all !!!

I must admit….it is a very strange and un-nerving feeling moving backwards on a moving river and not able to see where you are heading. Best part of the entire day was... we allowed our “child” side out to run and play, and we really enjoyed the experience. :-D

We were reminded of an important joy and privilege in our lives. That is, when your child or children ask you to go share an experience with them, no matter what age they are, be sure to take the time to go!

Beautiful memories are created to last a lifetime and your children will enjoy a look at another side of their parents.

That is a priceless treasure!

It was a day to remember....:-x

Excellent! Look at those smiles!

We all have a "default" that sometimes silences our "child side". - what a pity that is...b'Dand...Awareness Precedes Action!

I am so looking forward to spending some time with both of you this weekend. My admiration for you knows no bounds, and the joy of your presence is something to cherish!!

Here's to some more days playing with the kids and enjoying wet, splashy, giggly days with Alex and ALL of the grandchildren you will have! :O

I am seeing a dive trip involving the two of you and myself and some more divesr - possibly a live-aboard in Tahiti, or FiJi, or Papua..... or Grand Cayman, or Key Largo, or, "Hello" ... Kona!! We will make joyful bubbles!!

Warmest Aloha,

Linda

LET IT BE FUN !B-)

Hi Linda and Kent!

It's WONDERFUL to see you both out playing with your 'kids'! B-) :^O
It sounds like an action-packed adventure!
To combine the beauty of the mountains with the exhilaration of surrendering to the flow of the river must be awesome!

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your day with us!!! :-x

Linda,
I'm so jealous. I've wanted to go white water rafting for some time now. It looks like such an exhilarating adventure.

And you're right about taking advantage of the times your children invite you on their excursions. My youngest is now 13, an age where she definitely doesn't want mom hanging around.

So any time she wants to share an experience with me is a blessing.

Thanks for sharing you adventure,

Hi Linda! You and Kent look good holding your oars for the photo. :^O Now where were those oars after that?:| :-D

I'm glad everyone had fun. I will stick to filling up my bathtub with water and my grandbaby's sailboat.:-x
