Being new to Braveheart I was looking over past blogs and found the Newsweek Oct. 2009 article describing the predicted meteoric economic rise for women and their increased shopping power.
As the owner of a custom designed, luxury shopping tours by limo company in Vancouver, Canada, I think about the potential for good or ill that shopping has. In the hands of women there is a great opportunity in shopping to effect positive change in the world.
To cite a few examples we can choose:-
- to buy toys for children that reflect peace and beauty and not violence.
- we can choose goods of lasting quality instead of supporting obsolescence.
- we can avoid buying from companies who exploit workers.
-we can support local artisans and farmers to save on fuel costs.
- we can choose materials that are grown or produced locally.
-we can frequent stores and businesses who in turn employ handicapped and disadvantaged individuals.
- we could contribute to blogs on Braveheart indicating how our shopping power can bring about positive change in the world:)
