Closed since September 11, 2001, on Saturday, 4th of July, small groups of visitors will be able to climb to the crown of the Statue of Liberty to view the city of New York.

Click here to take a virtual tour of outside the statue, inside the stairway to the top and inside the crown of the most famous Statue in the world.

The Statue was dedicated in 1886 and one could get there only by paying 25 cents to cross in the ferry. The crown is very small, yet has 25 windows through which a person can view outside.

The Statue's pedestal sits on a fort that was built for the War of 1812. Lots of history!

Have you been on the island to see the Statue of Liberty? Her majesty and nobility are 'awesome'. She is huge - 305 feet from the ground to the tip of the torch. She inspires soulful gratitude to see her in 'real life'!

A symbol of freedom and a symbol of the highest dreams of humanity, the Statue of Liberty is a 'must see'.

Rijuta,
Thank you. I've never been there, so I truly enjoyed this virtual tour of The Statue of Liberty. I could feel the excitement arising within as if I was actually there, without the excrutiating pain of climbing those stairs. Happy 4th of July.

Linda, so happy that you took your son to see 'Lady Liberty!' :-D
It is so much fun to go with children. Apparently, many, many groups of children are scheduled to make the visit each year. The delight of the children and their first hand sense of the thrill of freedom is palpable.

Around the statue there is no obstruction, only a large expanse of sky and water that gives a sense of inner and outer freedom. A unique experience!!!
Thank you for sharing, Linda.

I've never been to the Statue of Liberty, even though I once lived near New York (Delaware is my native state.). Glad to have this tour, Rijuta.

When you are there in person, however, it is powerfully thrilling!
