Check Your Body Posture Often

That is very helpful. You describe the move I always practice, but never heard it called leading with the heart. That expression is so very helpful to me. Thanks so much. Hi Barbara, Thank you for sharing about your Parents and Uncles. I am sure they meant well; some of their advice was probably rock solid. Cute; "we wore little caps to keep our ears close in". Rounded shoulders are very common now - because of sitting so long at the computer and desk as well as the TV for those who indulge. Rather than thinking "Shoulders back", I usually ask my yoga students to "Lead with the heart". You will find that by pressing the mid-back forward, the shoulders automatically relax back and down and the head sits more squarely on the spine. When shoulders are rounded, we are leading with the 'head'. When we lead with the heart, breathing is easier and we have less strain on the neck. Next time I see you I will check on you!!! Rijuta Soul Power Community Hi Rijuta, Posture was brought to my attention recently by my chiropractor. He shared that my shoulders are rounding forward a bit. Interesting because from kid on I was taught and reminded to have good posture by my parents and even uncles (bachelors at that - their pride was to have us look 'perfect' in posture, in looks, walk with our feet positioned straight forward and not out wide, our ears tucked close to our head, etc.) Actually as little babies, we wore little caps to keep our ears close in. I don't know if that was ideas from the bachelor Uncles or my mom too. Anyway, I always thought I had good posture. But I realized that sitting, working at a desk or on computer one's shoulders are always turned inward... so now I practice to keep my shoulders back. Good advice and benefits, Rijuta - thanks. Barbara Filla Passion Branding Community Dear Deborah, thanks for the observation during our most fun and energizing drumming session at RISE! Thank you also Deborah for all of the assistance you provided for your BraveHeart sisters while there!!! Dear Carrie, thank you for sharing and do remember to always take some personal 'me time' to devote special attention to the Mom in you as well as the other aspects of your magnificent self! Gratitude for your input ladies! Rijuta Soul Power Community Amen to that! I also noticed that without enough loving breaths there is just so much tension stored in muscles that you get all hunched and contracted. Taking time for stillness and plenty of deep oxitocin breathing really helps my to get into my center. Once I get there, it's just a quick adjustment when I "check in" to relax into proper posture. Before I can release tension and get centered, the best I can do is suck my stomach in and stick my chest out. Not at all relaxing, and hiked way up out of center, it just doesn't help. When I feel that nonsense going on, I know I haven't taken proper care of myself of late, and it's time to devote special attention to me. As a mom, I often find that "me time" has slipped away when I wasn't looking! Great information Rijuta, and you had great posture during the drumming session at RISE Deborah Akridge (Deja) Enjoy Watching BraveHearTView!!! Rijuta Soul Power Community Hi Rebecca, Thank you for sharing your 'posture' experience and especially for mentioning that you took a deep, loving breath. It is so important to remember that the breath energizes and centers us IMMEDIATELY - as soon as we take the breath! Rebecca, you must have very good posture most of the time because of your riding skills! Gratitude, Rijuta Soul Power Community Rijuta, Thank you for this Reminder ! Have a great day and Posture. Lisa Collins Rijuta The other day I realized that I was slouching....sometimes I think it is such a habit in people that we don't feel natural when we stand straight. But all the sudden I checked in on myself and then took a deep loving breathe and stood straight. Immediately feeling better, more awake, more vibrant. Remembering to be aware of our posture allows us to receive, becoming more prosperous in all avenues of our lives. Rebecca Hofeldt Horse Lovers - Free Spirit
