ist1_2143084-thank-you.jpgWe have heard much about gratitude, yet science is showing that if put into practice, gratitude can make you happier.

A book called Thanks!: How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier by Robert Emmons PhD, tells of the scientific proof that gratitude can change every aspect of your life.

Keeping a gratitude journal has proven to be helpful in fostering an attitude of gratitude. It is suggested that we regularly write down 5 or more very specific things for which we can be grateful. It is also helpful to think of new items every day.

Even when we are experiencing difficult times, it is helpful to think thoughts of gratitude :) rather than victimization. :(
For example, rather than saying, "Most nights I wake up every few hours", we can change the thought to: "I feel so grateful when I can sleep through the night."

It takes a little practice, but with the change of thoughts, comes the change to more positive feelings.
With more positive feelings, more wonderful things manifest in our lives for which we can be grateful.

Research is there to suggest to us that we can indeed become happier and healthier by concentrating on and feeling more gratitude. According to one study done, college graduates that considered themselves happy had annual salaries of $25,000 higher than those who considered themselves unhappy, 16 years after graduating.

Would now be the right time to re-activate your Gratitude Journal?
Rather than take the benefits that come our way for granted, let us watch for the multiple ways for which we can be grateful.
We can all be superb examples of how gratitude can manifest more happiness in our lives! :-D

Dearest Rijuta,

I couldn't agree more that gratitude can make one happier. Nothing can shift my gloom like breathing and saying "thank you" When I can acknowledge what I am grateful for in my life....particularly if I let a friend know what they mean to me for example... my whole being is uplifted.

I always love your posts. Thank you my dear!

Much Love:-x,

Debra

A Gratitude Aloha to you, Linda!

Grateful for your superb sense of humor! :^O B-)

Your description of your "toilet, which realized it's dream of being a FOUNTAIN at 5:00 AM this wonderful morning!" had me laughing out loud!!!

Good health and much 'freedom' to you, Linda.
Happy smiles and warm hearts will always come your way as you live your gratitude life and "gratefully tap into (your) God-Given sense of humor."

Love and Hugs, :-x

Grateful Aloha to You, Rijuta!

When times become "interesting" , I enjoy gratitude for not being bored!

When challenges pile up, I gratefully tap into my God-Given sense of humor, albeit sometimes warped!!

This morning, my gratitude is for the home that I DO have,

in which there IS a bathroom,

containing a toilet,

which realized it's dream of being a FOUNTAIN at 5:00 AM this wonderful morning!

:(:O:_|:^O

Seriously ( not that an overflowing toidy is frivolous! ) my habit of keeping a gratitude journal is relatively recent - just 2 years, and it has made such a difference in my level of enjoyment in this life experience....

Daily, I consciously visit the aspects of my life that grace me with smiles and warmth in my heart.

It is my gift to myself...AND... everyone I encounter benefits!

I am very grateful for my BraveHeart Women connections and the friendships that are being strengthened here everyday!

Gratitude is FREE, and is a gateway to freedom from negative emotion and experience.

I firmly believe that GRATITUDE is key to good health, both physically and emotionally.

Much love to you,

Linda
