Do You See What Others See? Perception Counts
6 Comments
Dear Shelley, Your perception of what I am 'saying' in this blog is a perfect match. I especially appreciate your refined awareness: if we "listen to how we perceive comments others make to us; we may gain insight to our perception of ourselves." This is key to our being able to better help ourselves grow. Gratitude, Shelley, for your mature understanding and sharing of perception and personal growth. With warm admiration, Rijuta Soul-Power Community Dear Rijuta, You are right on target. I especially love your comment, "Whatever you perceive tends to begin to manifest because you hold what you perceive to be the 'truth'. " I feel that if we look at what we "see", and listen to how we perceive comments others make to us; we may gain insight to our perception of ourselves. If we hear doubt or disdain in others' comments...are we manifesting to our conscious selves that we actually feel this way about ourselves? If we feel otherwise about ourselves, we will not be devastated by the derogatory comments we hear; we can use them to search out what we feel about our self...and make adjustments if they need to be adjusted...but only if we examine our own truth. If we are open to information about ourselves, we are open to growth. The trick is to stay grounded in our belief about our own self. Thank you for bringing your truths and wisdom to my day! Best of the best, Shelley Smyka Dear Hedy, Thank you for bringing examples of perception to us for greater understanding. Having been a teacher of the gifted, I have heard of "the experiments where teachers were told certain average students were gifted." When a student's creativity, or any other capacity, is highly valued not only by the teacher, but by the student community, amazing results can be expected, including an increase in the student's self-worth. Perception with the heart can far surpass perception with the mind. Fortunately, this capacity is increasing very quickly within each of us. Gratitude for adding to our understanding, Hedy! Rijuta Soul-Power Community Rijuta, Thank you for your perceptive points! Perception is so fascinating! There's one other thing we can do that can help. We can say what we see ask if we are perceiving correctly, a foundation of all communication techniques. It also reminded me of the experiments where teachers were told certain average students were gifted. Those children did much better by the end of the school year. As you said, Whatever you perceive tends to begin to manifest because you hold what you perceive to be the 'truth'. I wonder if that may be what happened in the recently publicized incident with Harvard Prof. Gates and the police officer. Prof. Gates expected racial discrimination and acted in a way that brought a negative response, although that response was not necessarily discrimination. Everyone is now focused on what the truth of the matter was, was there discrimination? What you said applies, Judgements, criticisms, guessing, are all mistakes. Unless, you are 100% sure of what it is that you are perceiving, let it go. Namaste, Hedy Awareness Transforms The Relationship Dance Community Dear Lynette, Thank you for emphasizing: "The good news is once we are aware of our perceptions, much can change... " It helps to know where we are in the moment and from there, we can make changes in our thinking, feeling and actions. Grateful for your manifesting wisdom, Lynette! Rijuta Soul-Power Community Good day Rijuta, I appreciate your post as our perceptions affect our reality to a much greater extent than we are normally conscious of... not our fault, a part of our upbringing. However, there is no real change that we can bring into our reality unless we question our perceptions on all that we experience. The good news is once we are aware of our perceptions, much can change... Through greater and better communication with others, we come to understand the various perceptions that exist on the same topic, situation or circumstance. Learn to Be Your Own Wizard.
