Over 200 years ago, one of our most beloved forefathers drafted the Declaration of Independence at the age of 33. Remarkable, to say the least.

of the Declaration of Independence, completed on 4th July 1776.

In 1776, we must remember that there were only thirteen United States of America. Please click here to see a copy of the original Declaration of Independence. (roll over the thumbnail photo to magnify).

On the morning of July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson passed away.at the age of 83. With Jefferson's death, America lost not just one of its greatest statesmen, but one of its cultural leaders, a true Renaissance man. Law, diplomacy and politics were his profession, but his interests and passions were found in all the liberal arts and sciences: from mathematics and philosophy to economics, archaeology, ornithology, ichthyology, horticulture, architecture, art and music.

Celebrating true freedom and independence and remembering the contribution of Jefferson!!! Hope you are celebrating in your own way!!!

Thank you very much for the reference~ :)
Hope you enjoyed your Independence Day Holiday!!!

Dear Rijuta, your post reminds me of how my admiration for Thomas Jefferson increased exponentially after reading Jean Houston's amazing profile of him in her book, Public Like a Frog: Entering the Lives of Three Great Americans.

If you decide to read her book, let me know what you think about it.

Chickee :-p
