Slow down to speed up!
What does this mean?
1088027_go_slow.jpg
In the past month or so, I found myself beginning to add more and more to my daily To Do list, found myself multi-tasking more and more and had moments of feeling that I was 'spinning my wheels'.

Whoa, this was not working for me, so what to do?

Multi-tasking over long periods of time causes excessive stress. Many, if not most of us, find we are multi-tasking constantly. Now as time 'seems' to be speeding up, we have a need to learn the skill of multi-tasking. We can actually train the brain to channel energy so we can accomplish more in less time, but it takes practice.

Following is taken from an article by Ron Knaus, Multi-tasking, slow down to speed up.) I highly suggest that you read his whole article (click on the blue link).

"When you’re performing multiple tasks that require your undivided attention, your brain gets overloaded, as it can only process information from one channel at a time. Therefore, do not multi-task if the assignment requires your full attention. Once that urgent or detailed task is complete, then you can go back to doing the other tasks you normally do. This step will save you lots of rework, as you’re more prone to make mistakes when your brain is overloaded."

Slowing down helps us to connect with our inner power, our soul power. This is when we can best receive clarity, creativity and light/energy.

Watch an olympic runner. He or she has efficiency of movement, is obviously in control of the situation and moves with intensity - totally focussed.

As this is a holiday weekend, try to slow down just for just a few hours. You may get the mental, physical and emotional rest you need. You will drive more safely and be more connected with your family and friends.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! :-D

Hi Poonam,

When you say this information is the demand of today's world, I am imagining a moving cartoon of humans on the busy streets of New York.

They have blinders over their eyes, are moving rapidly in erratic patterns - crossing here and there, darting in and out of buildings, in and out of vehicles and with no expression on their faces. :O

I much prefer to imagine the other side of the coin:
People walking easily, happily and directly to their destinations, smiling at each other and stopping to smell the roses. That feels much better! :-D

Thanks for your comment, Poonam!

hi ,
Thanks for sharing it .
this article is the demand of today's world.
with regards ,
Poonam.
Hi Shirley,

The "rushing, pushing and shoving" that you mention generally has us heading upstream opposite to the natural flow :Oinstead of heading downstream so we can go with the flow.

Remembering to work from the inside out with ease, instead of the outside in with dis-ease, is the way to go. :)

Thank you for sharing about your experience.

You are so right! its when I am going
so fast that I make a lots of mistakes,
but when I just slow down and take
life slow and easy everything seemed
to go so much better. I agree that
rushing, pushing, and shoving to
get everything done all at once can
be devasting to one's health. It can
cause certain diseases to appear
that wouldnt be there if we would just
take the time to relax and unwind,
get in touch with ourselves, so that
our body, mind, spirit, and soul can
connect and think reasonable the
way in which it should. Great Article
Thanks!
Great Claudia,

I admire anyone who will SLOW down to actually do their meditation. :)
I agree: daily meditation definitely helps.
It doesn't have to be long; it can be 5 to 10 minutes.
What counts is the quality, not the length.
Practice, practice, practice.
Enjoy the p-e-a-c-e . . .

Thank you Claudia!

Hi Barbara,

I think what you are doing for yourself: "I'm currently rethinking, revisiting the many tasks, actions and more on my plate, to prioritize so I can be more productive and effective while living a balanced life," is excellent advice for all. Action steps are productive: Rethink; Revisit; Prioritize; Live a balanced life.

One can live with passion and stay totally away from burnout!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom-thoughts!

Loving Gratitude,

Hi Rijuta: Good advice for us all. I find too that daily meditation helps me to accomplish more. However sometimes I have to make myself SLOW down to do it.

Hi Rijuta,

I agree that everyone seriously consider slowing down so they can speed up. It's one of those 'common sense' principles.

This information came at the perfect time for me.

1. I'm currently rethinking, revisiting the many tasks, actions and more on my plate, to prioritize so I can be more productive and effective while living a balanced life.

It's interesting how things keep accumulating without one realizing it, until a time when we realize we're not as productive as we desire and can be. Or we get to the point of burnout...I have been there.

2. Over many years of working with people and businesses, I've seen many people stressed out even to the point of burn out. -- the best reminder of what I don't want to happen to me or anyone else because that truly wastes time, effort, takes a lot of energy.

If we want to live alive with balance and with passion, it's important to slow down to speed up.
