Hey that's great. A couple of things although some others touched on it - turn on the waters, flush the toilets to make sure they work well, Invest the money and get a home inspection. Christina mentioned that too. If appliances come with the home, make sure they work and if still under warrenty get the papers. Once you buy and are in, change all the locks. Good for you, Crystal! Get a licensed inspector to go over the house in detail. The people selling a house won't necessarily tell you about trouble spots. Chickee Crystal, First of all congrats to you and the girls..... The best advice I could share is ....Do not become attached to the outcome !Look and stay grounded and ware your awesome glasses ! The house has already been picked out for you from the Man upstairs ! Use all free resources like free inspections or money back inspections and have fun..... Have a great day!!!!! Crystal, I just wanted to say congratulations.....that is so terrific its got to be so exciting and scary.....If it was me looking for a house my concerns would be the yard is it big enough (kids) closet space, and a friend of mine told me she ran the water in all the sinks showers to see how much water pressure there was, also she used to do inspections so another habit is if there is a basement see if you can see pipes and where they are near wires....thats important cause a lot of people dont check and if a pipe breaks there goes the wires....also check when you run the water under the sink make sure nothing is leaking and look for spots in the ceiling to make sure it doesnt look like the roof leaked....I also learned that if the houses are brand spanking new there still could be issues like the above because the owners could have just slapped it together to get rid of it.....let us know how you make out... Your Friend along The Way, Christina Hi Crystal, Congratulations!!! It is so exciting to buy your first house! It is definitely a "buyer's market" now....but do lots of research first. Check with close friends who have purchased homes....see if there are things they would have done differently. Location is key...think about your requirements like school, a secure area, shopping, work etc as you are looking plus the property values of the area.
