Your Inner Ear!

Posted Jun 15, 2009 01:43 PM
During my MFT masters program, one of my professors taught on teaching clients how to listen to their intuition or heart. This was a fascinating topic to me because I truly believed that very few people ever really take the time to listen to their heart.

As his lecture continued, he talked about how listening to one's heart can powerfully transform one’s life and positively affect their body, soul, and spirit. All of a sudden, I felt as if I was being taken to another place or having an out of body experience and lifted to heaven. I know this sounds strange, but stay with me.

Suddenly, I was in a different classroom standing in front of a chalkboard with the word HEART written on it in big letters. As I was looking around the room wondering where everybody was, I heard a small soft voice ask the question, "Anita, what do you see in the word heart?" At first, I didn't respond because I was still trying to figure out what was going on. As I started to focus on the word, I rattled off all the typical words like "he" and "art". The room darkened, and as if by magic, the following words started to illuminate while the voice said the following:

"Anita, in your heart is an inner ear (the word EAR illuminated) that is constantly HEARING (the word HEAR illuminated) everything that you say or that is being said to you. What you hear will always affect you from your head (the H was illuminated) to your toes (the T was illuminated). I stood there amazed as if given a great wisdom from God. I have never forgotten that experience. Since then, I have become extremely sensitive to what I say to myself, what I hear from others and what I say to others. I share this with you today because I want you to be very careful about what you listen to or hear every day. Right now, our nation is struggling to address our economical crisis and if we pay too close attention to what is being said, it can negatively affect how we see our future.

On a side note, did you know that your inner ear influences every muscle in your body and affects your ability to stay balanced? Interesting uh! What you hear in your inner ear not only affects you spiritually, mentally and emotionally, it affects you physically. The things you pay very close attention to can affect your ability to stay balanced, grounded, and secure in your body, soul and spirit.

So my question to you is, what are you listening to? What do you hear (positive or negative) that may be affecting you from your head to your toes?

Stay focused, stay strong and listen carefully!

Live Outrageously Well,

Anita

Fabulous post! Thank you so much. I'm pinning it up on my wall right now as a daily reminder.

Many Blessings,

Hi Anita,

Whatever we hear or intuit from our inner ear (our spiritual heart) is all good. Different people get messages from their hearts in different and unusual ways - no right or wrong!

If the message that one receives is not positive, then it is not from the heart. It is from the body, vital or mind. Listening and identifying only with the positive messages is the way to go.

Thank you for sharing your positively fascinating and wisdom-filled experience about your heart! When we hear something, for example, negative news, even though we may not be paying very close attention to it, the negative news will affect us. (All the more reason not to fall asleep with the television on!!!) ;)

Gratitude Anita,

Hi Anita

Thank you for sharing. Out of the heart the mouth speaks, and our words create the world around us. So we need to carefully guard our hearts, to be aware of what we allow to enter our hearts through the eye gate and the ear gate and the words we say.
The Bible says "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid..." (John 14:27). This shows us that we are in control of what we allow in our hearts.

May you be blessed abundantly

Anita,

What a wonderful reminder that we must practise listening. And I completely agree with Hedy that it's a heck of a challenge living in this crazy reality and not get pulled into all the negative vibes out there.

I don't watch the news or buy newspapers. I choose the news I want to read. Far too many people don't seem to understand that the fear and the lack are a means of controlling them and that they need to go within and listen and harvest their own reality.

Abraham says: Never face reality unless your reality is just the way you want it to be. I used to live by that (unconsciously) till my 20s, now I've come full circle at 50 and intend to live this way until my ashes are scattered to the winds.

I have always been comfortable with silence and don't need talk to fill the space.

I have 3 great friends of 15 years+, I hate small talk, it's a waste of my time and I don't associate with anyone personal or professional who is not in harmony with my intent to be who I am.

That decision a few years ago was tough at first but it's like WOW now. No more "let's have a coffee blah blah blah" or "how about a drink ..." or the how are you excuse to launch into a diatribe.

No more of that. I don't want to hear your problems if you're not interested in solutions and I'm not offering any (I used to) unless asked specifically.

Now is the time for change and substance and nothing less will do.

When discussions turn negative I cut them short if I can't change it. I have come too far to listen to junk talk that sucks my energy. Abraham also said:

You're not going to have a lot of people you can talk to about this. There is never a crowd on the leading edge.

So let's go ladies!

What a wonderful post! Truly packed with inspiration and wisdon! I love it! You are so correct when you say -
What you hear in your inner ear not only affects you spiritually, mentally and emotionally, but it affects you physically. The things you pay very close attention to can affect your ability to stay balanced, grounded, and secure in your body, soul and spirit.

I totally agree that We should all be very attune to what we say to ourself, what we hear from others and what we say to others. Dr. Anita, Thanks for the great advice to be aware of what we listen to and hear every day.

Thank you my Sister - it is such a pleasure to collaborate with you!

Hello Anita,

Thank you for sharing your inspiring story....a true reminder to listen with your heart.
"Seeing" the word heart differently now....and feeling the "inner ear" to listen more closely... adds new light to "listen with your heart" and pay attention to your intuition.

May you too live strong and in focus with life...:-x

Good morning Anita,

I so appreciate your story, as it is the wonderful reminder I needed today!

Sometimes when we start to listen to our heart, because that may be new to us, it feels like we are walking on shaky ground and yet it is the time we need to listen even closer and to trust ourself.

May you be blessed in all ways, always. :)

Hi Anita,

Thank you for sharing a wonderful and instructive story! And what a great professor! I love the ear in the heart reminding us it's important not just to remember to quiet down to hear the heart, but your reminders about choosing the words we use, and being careful where we place our attention. That does create our reality.

We hear what we read and what we see, too. The challenge is to attend to what's going on enough to stay in reality and do what we must, but not get hooked into the negative energy and interpretations. It's a delicate balance, recognizing ahead what's too much focus, but I guess we know when we've gone over the edge because we go over the edge emotionally.

I've become very sensitized to negative words lately, as I wrote about in Are You Practicing The Law of Attraction Backwards? So much negativity comes to us in disguise, and it's enough of a challenge to deal with the straight out news!

Namaste,
Hedy
