A New Experience!

I have a confession to make. For years, I have been critical and judgemental toward obsessed animal lovers. I just couldn't understand all the hoopla about a dog and especially a cat. To make matters worse, I seem to have attracted mostly animal lovers as friends and they've been trying to convert me for years. But I was stronger than them, until today!

Today, I got a puppy and he is absolutely adorable. I think I'm in love :-x. What a strange experience I'm having with this little fella. When he looks at me with those sad little gorgeous eyes and his floppy little ears, I just melt :-x. While spending WAY TOO MUCH MONEY on a dog (he's already in control - I'm doomed) all I kept thinking about was, "I have to get home. He needs me." More like I needed him...lol.

For most of my life, I have been focusing on school and work. It became really easy to stay active. Now that my life is transforming right before my eyes, something in me has taken a turn and I'm realizing that I'm wanting and needing more. As I get older, Big Ben is making way too much noise, which is probably why I got a puppy...but I dont mind, at least for now.

Here's a picture of him. DSC00280.JPG

Forgive me for the picture being so big. I have no clue how to cut the size.

His only 6 weeks old. I haven't decided on a name yet but here are a few of my choices: Jackson (first name only like Prince, Cher, Madonna - but moreso because I love my last name), Zeus (friends thought that was funny - go figure), Max, my mom wants me to call him "Hey Dog" - why? Don't ask. So for now, I just call him honey!

My little fella is asleep right now (he's really a good dog or he's depressed because he misses his brothers and sisters). The therapist in me is being trigged to help the little one, which worries me because this may cause me to spoil him rotten and do something crazy like put bling all over him (I almost bought him this charm in the shape of a little bone with so-called diamonds all over it - dear God what's happening to me?!).

It's amazing what animals can do to a person. Never thought I would feel such a bond so quickly...the power of life in any form always amazes me. This must a very small verison of motherhood...I hope so.

So, too all the BraveHeart animal lovers out there, a new member has joined the club....I too am an animal lover and I promise to be a good one....until he poops in my carpet!...Just kidding:^O!

Be well,

Anita

Hi Anita,

Your post is music to my ears.... Welcome to the land of animal lovers!

Your little guy is adorable!:-x

Since he is your first pet I thought you might enjoy some Puppy Tips from Cesar Millan - The Dog Whisperer. It very very helpful information that can create the type of bond you will cherish with your new family member.

Keep us updated on the name you choose for him. I personally vote for "Jackson"

Aloha Anita,
Your puppy is precious. I was smitten by the puppy loving bug 6 1/2 years ago when I got my King Charles Caviler, he is the delight of my life. Such love, sweetness and loyalty. You are in for the treat of your life. ENJOY! Sheila Radha
