The greatest gift is love. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy & share our love with humanity. Thought this little story was worth sharing.... The greatest gift is love. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy & share our love with humanity. Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children. Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester. Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day ("who really ought to get a job") is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares. Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together. Heavenly Father, remind us each day That of all the gifts you give us Lord, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love. This is so timely and beautifully said. Thank you for sharing your insights...and the precious story of the children's presentation.
Our children see with eyes of wonder and clarity those things that become "clouded" as we grow older.

Inspiration in Action to me means each and every day doing the best you can, being authentic, being grounded, being present, and always taking little steps towards your dreams!

For me part of being present is remembering that those little things that we can sometimes become too busy for ... mean SO much to those little children. Whenever I am sitting in the audience and they look around and find you..... their eyes just light up and a smile fills their face.

I remember that same feeling I had when I was a little girl and would look off the stage of some performance and search and search until I found my parents. That inner knowing that someone is there just to see you is so special.

My 8-year-old daughter's 3rd grade class did the most touching skit in school this morning .... I arrived not knowing anything except that her class was presenting.... the skit was about how we can all get so caught up in our lives and being friendly to our friends.... but when a stranger shows up how so many of us turn a cold shoulder and look away instead of offering the stranger a smile or a kind word. It was so well done. I don't know if the kids understood the depth of what they were doing but as I sat watching.... it brought a tear to my eye.

Bless you Dr. Sugar. That was beautiful. In our everyday busy lives, it is so easy to forget that we no nothing of what goes on in others' lives and people can so easily become "obstacles" to what ever mission we are on -be it getting to work or going to the gym -- if we don't take the time and make the effort to live in awareness. I have no doubt that tomorrow I will treat someone with more love and compassion because of your post.
