Are you GROWING or DYING?
There is a Universal Law that we see exhibited in Nature every day that says...You are either GROWING or DYING.... We see this in the flowers that sprout in the Spring, Bloom in the Summer and then Die with the first Frost of Winter. Growing....Growing.....Growing.....then Dying.

We see this in high speed when we go into our beautiful flower garden and decide to cut a flower from it's plant and bring it to our dining room table to add beauty to the room. As soon as we cut the stem, we hasten the dying process even though the beautiful flower will still look vibrant for a few more days....it has already begun to die.

So I wonder..... What about people???....I look around at women everywhere and have to wonder.... are we growing or are we dying. We begin life and learn to walk and talk and read and write and then we grow up and learn how to fall in love, we get married, we have kids, we learn how to be a mom, we go to college and get a job or career.... Growing....Growing....Growing

And then something seems to happen at around the age of 22 or 23 in my experience/observation .... Women fall into the ROLES of life.
"Mom"
"Wife"
"Doctor or Nurse or Real Estate Agent or Banker or Cosmetologist"
and they lose sight of WHO THEY ARE....
They hop on the hamster wheel of life and stop growing....
Go to work from 8-5, cook dinner, watch tv, go to sleep....
Go to work from 8-5, go to the grocery store, watch tv, go to sleep....
Go to work from 8-5, take kids to soccer, watch tv, go to sleep....
Go to work from 8-5, clean the house, watch tv, go to sleep....
Go to work from 8-5, do the laundry, watch tv, go to sleep.....

I see women on the hamster wheel of life and I wonder.....if they are asleep to who they are, if they have become only their roles, if they are no longer GROWING....... have they begun the long slow painful process of dying for the next 50 or 60 years????

I was pondering this idea preparing to go on stage in the Pacific Northwest a few days ago when one of my clients called to mastermind.... I tossed the idea out to her and posted below (with her permission) is a most eloquent reply
Thank you to my dear colleague and BraveHeart Sister LISA BUCKALEW

I have been sitting outside feeling myself as the flower in the vase on the table.
I am a flower.
Someone has picked me,
severed me from my mother the earth
and my days are short and numbered.
Facts of life, earth cycles and death..
I was going to die,
to sleep for a while in seed form
in the fall anyway.
This selection for the vase has simply accelerated the process.
Knowing that these next few days are my last
I want to make them my best.

My purpose.
To embody the essence of my life thus far,
my time in the meadow,
my time in the rain and my time in the sun.
To truly BE the beautiful and healing flower
I was born to be ...

I use all of my energy to pull water from the vase
up through my stem and then
using the last of my transformative powers
I push that water through my internal parts
and out into my petals.
I blossom to the fullest degree that I am able
and allow the peace of the meadow
and the rain
and the sun
to be displayed in full, beautiful, healing color
through that which I am.
A flower.

When faced with the inevitability of death
and then accepting it,
I chose to live out the remainder of my days to the fullest.

My message to the other flowers still in the field ...

Do not count the days until autumn,
make the days count.
What if you too are severed from the earth before you expected
and have only a few short days left.
You will want to know what it felt like to really live.
Wake up!
Live!
Feel the sway in the breeze,
feel the rain on your skin.
Feel the sun on your face.
BE who you are!
LIVE!!!

I AM CALLED TO LIVE,
TO LOVE,
TO BE WHO I AM
ARE YOU?

Hi Dr. Sugar,

This actually left me speechless ( well..only momentarily ) haha. Fantastic topic. You hit the nail right on the head. I felt like I was reading my own life story haha.. I fell into that role of life as you explained...but the way I look at it is .. In every "moment " we are always living the life we are suppose to be at that time. Nothing changes until it is suppose to...Sort of like the saying.." eveyrthing happens for a reason" So if we are stuck in a role for a period of time..there must be reason for it...and when change comes? its because it was suppose to and we were meant to grow or find ourselves etc I think we are always finding ourselves and always living our purpose. Of course .." In the moment" haha Hope that made sense to all of you haha I knew what i meant..
BTW...I am attending my first RISE event in October...and I am SOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to it...and to meeting all of you as well.

Dr. Sugar,

Wow! What a timely post. As we enter into a new season in time, Summer, and in life, I so agree with you that we often get lost in the process of doing or our "roles" and are convinced that we are growing. This truth has become very clear to me recently in my own life when I realized that the things that had died years ago, I was still unconsciously holding on to them because I was convinced that I needed them. But in truth, living and dying and letting go in order to live again, is and was necessary in order for me to truly become. A journey I'm still on.

I love what Nancy said above about we're all "longing to come home..." Coming home to our own truth in how we truly live, love and be. As I am learning to die and let things go, literally, on this new journey I am learning the deeper meaning of authentically becoming Anita.

Thank you for your words of inspiration, empowerment, and authentic love. I see and felt all of you in this post.

Miss you and love you much,

Anita

Beautiful!

Through the natural cycles of life the physical body dies, but our spirit, our soul, is ever present.

When you operate your life from your personality, you are not in that place of remembering. When we try to maintain the status quo, I believe , we do hasten the death of the physical body. Fear, perpetuated by the mind, is the main issue that keeps us on that 'hamster' wheel. There is a saying, "If God is in the co-pilot seat, change seats".

Nothing stays the same and growing requires us to be uncomfortable for a period of time. It requires that we do things we haven't tried before.........have whole new experiences.

Realization of our spirit is the journey. The gifts within are ours to share. What we choose to create and allow will take us there.....sometimes quickly and sometimes we will repeat our experience over and over again until we learn what it is we need to know. That can be challenging. It is totally an 'inside job'. Love and joy are our birth right.

The longing to come home is in all of us whether we are aware of it or not. Each of us comes to it in our own way and in our own time.......learning, learning, ever learning, ever growing. Forget comparison and expectation. Our journey is OUR journey!

I find it fascinating to see evidence in words printed on a computer screen that the sharing of light with another has created something much more powerful than a single light alone.

It is equally fascinating to witness that this sharing assists each of us to grow in our own light making these sharing or masterminding sessions a vehicle through which many of life's gifts are revealed. Some gifts are immediately apparent and some arrive later and continue to give as we are open to receiving.

Thank you, Dr. Sugar! Your choice to LIVE! and your passion to be in service to assist others to heal and to LIVE! is an inspiration that assists me to be aware, to recognize the flower that I am, and then with love, allow myself to fully blossom with trust that nurturing who I am and allowing myself to BE also nurtures others to discover who they are and allow themselves to BE.

I am a flower among flowers - a single light among many lights and I am honored to share in a garden where we cultivate each other to blossom, to grow and to celebrate who we we were born to be.

with love,
Lisa
Dr Sugar~

Thank you so much for posting this incredible idea! Lisa~ Thank you for the amazing poem!! It gave me goosebumps.

I can say from experience that until I came into awareness, until I learned how to love myself, and not hide behind my circumstances or my story I was absolutely dying a little more each and every day. Once I stepped into my power and accepted my life exactly as it is I began LIVING EVERY DAY!!!

Break the Mold!! BE EXTRAORDINARY:-x

You have both spoken exceptionally well. This gives us some very thought provoking ideas.

While we begin to die (physically) the moment we are born at any age we can have an "awakening" as to our real purpose here. Then we truly begin to live and have the power to blossom into the most beautiful flower that ever existed. When we bloom into our spiritual presence and see the world as a place to live and not only exist on the "hamster" wheel then we are free to move forward living life in its fullest.
Thank you both for being amazing roses in the garden of life and living to your fullest.
