We also adopted a little girl and it took us 5 years in the court system to give her an opportunity of life that she deserved. She was going to be sacrificed, by a cult, the month after she came into our lives. I can not conceive what would go through a mother's mind that she would burn and kill her child that she carried for 9 months. Drugs and alcohol played a part in her mental attitude but also her upbringing in her own childhood was not a loving home. My mission now is to mentor and inspire others who are going through these difficult times to save a child. I will not stop until I have helped changed the laws for our precious children. Who is suffering today? How will they get out of the position they are living in? The only way is by us adults stepping in and stepping up. We MUST help others learn how to be parents and treat their children with the respect they did not have. Allie just turned 7 years old and she had a birthday party that 45 children attended plus their families and the look on her face was priceless! There are millions of children who have no voices and no one to speak for them I was amazed at the relatives who are raising other family members. Allie & Maximus deserve the opportunity to a life with opportunity and a future that allows them to contribute their special gifts and talents to the world. My congratulations to you and Charlie for saving Maximus and showing him he is special and he deserves the best this world has to offer. I believe the reason we were blessed to adopt Allie is to inspire and encourage others who do not see the light at the end of the tunnel when they are going through this most difficult time. Ellie, Thank you for sharing that video with all of us again so that we could relive your happiness during that day of celebration. I remember being on the phone with you not once, but twice as you received news from the orphanage...and you had to renew your "patience" card until Maximus finally set foot on American soil. This was not only Maximus's birthday and Charlie's birthday celebration, but also the birth of renewed faith in us that believed right along with you that your wish for this child would be fulfilled.
