I'm still here...

Thanks for the words of encouragement, but as you well know...it's in a Mom's nature to scream out warnings, and yes even get frustrated when they refuse to listen... I am, like Tabi, a creature of habit...sameness...I like my ducks to swim in a nice neat row on the pond in front of me, just as the sun sets and turns the trees and hills to silhouettes...A rainbow would be a nice extra at that point, and my camera set to capture it forever would be priceless. Yes my friend, I hate and fear change, but I do as everyone else, have to accept it...but I can pause and shed a tear for the days & dreams that have taken flight never to return... Hey Karla,
Thank you for sharing your feelings. I know you are going through a rough spot right now. I'm sorry to hear that George has not been feeling well. I'm sending him my best wishes. You wrote a lot about change. I know change is hard, but I think it is our fear of change that is really the problem. In reality, life is about change. Nothing stays the same--ever. I like what Erica Jong said about the subject: "I have accepted fear as a part of life--specifically the fear of change. I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says: turn back." In reality, there really is no turning back--for what lies behind us is gone. We have to go forward, even when it is not easy. You and I have gone through out maiden and mother years and have entered our queen years. These are the best years of our lives--if we will just accept them for what they are. We will fully enter cronedom soon. What a wonderful time to be alive. We are the keepers/tellers of the stories--the purveyors of wisdom. As wise women, we must always remember that possessing wisdom does not mean we or our ways are right. We have to accept that what is right for us may not be right for another. In your post you said, "Stay on the right path I scream...but no one is listening, and they resent me for disturbing their oblivious lives with my concerns or rebukes." I understand your fears and your concerns, but I also know that each person must follow his/her own path. We cannot control anyone but ourselves, and we cannot walk anyone else's path but our own. Each person has all the answers he/she needs within themselves. We just have to learn to trust that they will find them. Remember, my friend: "Life is not a situation, but a process; not static, but dynamic. It's essential element is change, and the great question facing each of us is whether we will channel that change in the directions we want to go, shaping our destiny, or whether we will permit our activities and our character to be determined by those random forces we call fate. To the extent that we procrastinate, we are following the second course." Edwin C. Bliss You are a strong, intelligent, and creative woman. You have the power, within yourself, to move that elephant. I know you do! As always, you and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Peace, blessings, and much love to you. Diana Phoenix Rising Writers' Corner
