Well said! Thank you for helping to get the word out about the health issues surrounding our children today! In this fast paced world we now live in, we often pump our kids full of processed foods and watch them get plugged into the latest techno toy. As you stated in other blogs, it is up to us to make a change! As a group of BraveHeart Women, we can change the world for our children! To vibrant healthy futures! Emily N, RN www.VibrantHealthyLife.Isagenix.com Maria, So true! and so sad. I think there are so many issues around our healthcare that are affecting the health of our children. When I waas a child, we ran around the neighborhood until dinner time, we then all came in and ate a meal that was prepared by my mother, we ate at the table as a family. Just there so many things have changed. Most parents are too afraid of just letting their children run around like we did for fear of child preditors, we have a tendency to eat out more than ever at restaurants and the fast food ones are the worst for nutrition. We don't have the family bonds in many instances like we used to, eating around the family table. So many times we are running from one activity to another and eat on the run. Our poor food choices, addition of preservatives and fillers, lack of nutrients in our fresh foods along with pesticides are also stacking the deck against our health as well. Doctors are giving out more drugs, parents are reaching for more over-the-counter medicines instead of letting the cold/flu/fever run its course. (Check out the Passion Parent blog post for information on alternative medicine). The amount of data that our children receive is so much more than we were bombarded with as children. We have hundreds of more tv channels (I had three when I was younger), the internet, game boys and PSPs, and cell phones. All this input can stress our systems instead of the relaxing time spent reading a book. I agree that people are becomming aware of all the things we have been handed off that are harmful... mostly by companies that are aware of the harm from their products in exchange for making more money on the product.... for example, partially hydrogenated oils extend the shelf life of the processed food, yet are so harmful that many countries will not allow them in their food. I agree that consciousness is raising and this will positively affect the health of generations to come. Look forward to hearing more from you on such an important topic! Here's to being a Passion Parent! Christine Hiebel www.PassionParent.com
