QiGong - Energy of Healing

Posted Jul 19, 2009 01:54 PM

I'm taking a chance that you'll take 10 minutes and watch this video. Some of you may all ready know about QiGong (Che-Gung)

QiGong is the movement of energy. As the masters say, "where our thoughts go, energy follows". This ancient healing art, is based on the principle of keeping our essential life force moving throughout our body. When this life force is blocked, we are sick and dis-eased.

This PBS documentary gives some of the history and philosophy behind this modality.

I recently started daily QiGong. It's my meditation, stretch, and getting energy started in the morning and releasing stress in the evening. I'm amazed at the difference it's made in my life! Enjoy!

Hi Krista and Joy,

Thank you for your comments and it's a wonderful world out there in QiGong land! I attended a workshop recently of two of the most respected QiGong masters around from what I hear;
Francesco Garripoli and Daisy Lee Garripoli. He was the one instrumental in the filming of the PBS documentary.

They were fabulous teachers. I purchased two videos they had with them:
QiGong for Beginners is a 2 disc set. One disc contains the above documentary
"QiGong for Stress Relief".

I'm not a person who takes to learning this type of modality from books, it's very fluid, like dancing and I learn better by watching movement. Rijuta may have a better idea of books.

Amazon has a couple. Gaiam has more: http://tr.im/t6tw

Keep me posted on your experience, ok?

Dear Kathy and Rujita,

Do you have specific videos/books to suggest about Qi Gong you feel could be very beneficial to watch/read?

For years, when talking with others, I have only alluded to the vibrational aspects/energies of our own individual beings, as well as those vibrations of forces beyond what we can see, but not beyond what we can feel. Most people want to 'logic' away my thoughts about energies, so I have been cautious about what I've said or with whom I'm speaking. Sadly, Western society in general believes more in medicine that involves prescription drugs.

I have been very interested in learning Tai Chi as a low-impact form of exercise. Qi Gong appears to be more in line with what I believe and have been searching for in order to learn how to self heal and perform restorative exercises rather than the high impact aerobics that are usually found in gyms.

If you could start us off with an excellent book that provides a detailed bibliography of works on Qi Gong, that would be great.

Excellent video! Thanks, Kathy!

I found this very interesting! I watched several videos online. I think this is something I need to learn myself. I do believe that where I thoughts go, our energy follows!

Thanks for sharing this!

Kathy,

Confirming the benefits of Qi Gong as a practitioner myself for several years. I once had a routine visit to my chiropractor and when he checked me, he said, "No subluxations; you can go home." (nothing to correct)

Happy you have started Kathy!
Thank you for the historical viewpoint on the PBS video.
