Kathy, I listened and heard the birds, rustling wheat in the fields....brought me back to what I really enjoy and who I am. I love the city, the convenience, people, culture and more. But I love even more the quiet of the country. I am a country girl at heart, born and raised on a farm 15 miles from nearest small town. The beautiful big hills on each side of our farm in the valley, neighbors a mile away. The woods, the trees, the natural water springs coming out of the hillside, cold spring drinking water, the big yard, the blackberries, raspberries, hickory nut trees in the woods. Walking in the woods in autumn with the crackling of dried leaves I stepped on, sitting on the hillside soaking up the warm autumn sun.... I still love to open the windows all summer long and feel the summer breeze blowing in.... it's as close to the sound of nature as I can get most times now in the city. Yesterday and today all the windows were open - it was as good as it can get in the city. Didn't hear birds singing though.... Hmmm. Thanks for the memories.
