Color My Root Chakra

The Root Chakra is located in the Perineum. Imagine a clockwise vortex of Red energy opening downwards between the legs. The energy centers at the base of the spine (coccyx) and extends up into the spinal column. In its natural and healthy state, the Root Chakra is always at least slightly open.

This chakra is associated with being grounded. It relates to self-preservation, sexuality and reproduction, security, individuality, and the physical body. In a balanced state, this chakra brings us health, prosperity, courage and patience. It is associated with the sense of Smell and the element of Earth. It connects to the Gonads.

The function of the Root Chakra is to build our foundation. It brings Earth energy into the body to stabilize us and balance the endocrine system. It also serves to remove negative or “toxic” energy from the body and auric field, returning it to the Earth to be neutralized.

An underactive or closed Root Chakra is associated with feelings of unhappiness or anger towards your body, anxiousness and fear, the inability to put down roots, lack of sexual pleasure, and feeling out of control of your life. Signs of imbalance are anemia and cold hands and feet. An overactive Root Chakra may lead to obsessions with material possessions or sex, being easily and often angered, and over eating or weight issues.

Crystals and gemstones can help to stimulate, quiet, and balance the chakras. You can lay the crystal directly over or near the chakra, or hold it in your hand, for 15-30 minutes. To stimulate and balance the Root Chakra, you can meditate with Garnet, Carnelian, Red Jasper and Ruby. To ground the Base Chakra, counter negative energy and provide protection, use Obsidian, Smoky Quartz or Black Tourmaline. Emerald and Lodestone (Magnetite) will calm an overactive Root Chakra.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oil from plant compounds to enhance mental, emotional, and physical health. To use, mix a few drops of the pure essential oil with a base carrier, such as sweet almond oil. Rub the oil between your palms and inhale. Then sweep your hands over the auric field of your Root Chakra, first in a counterclockwise, and then in a clockwise pattern. You can also add the essential oil to your bath water, use in an oil diffuser, or massage on your body in the diluted form. The stimulating aromatherapy scents for the Root Chakra are Lavender and Hyacinth. The calming scents are Cedarwood and Patchouli.

To charge an underactive Root Chakra, try eating red-colored fruits and vegetables. If the Root Chakra needs to be calmed, try eating more green vegetables, such as lettuce, spinach and cabbage.

Root Chakra Affirmation: “I choose to release all fear now. I know that I am protected and all my needs are met abundantly.”

Thank you so much for sharing.

This explains a LOT. Recently, I had the good fortune to finally accept the help of a Rolfer. I am now better than I was a year ago.

However, after having several great sessions, I noticed that my lower back was causing me more pain than BEFORE Rolfing and I was VERY confused. This answers the WHY.

Thank you so very much for sharing and for CARING ENOUGH to share so freely.

Blessings to you!
