500 MILES DOWN, 500 TO GO

Posted Mar 31, 2009 03:41 PM
I am participating in a Body Challenge that spans Jan 2, 2009 - June 15th, 2009. It is sponsored by the company whose nutritional cleansing system has brought me 100 plus pounds closer to my body's correct weight.
The contest is judged 50% on body transformation(pictures), and 50% on an essay I will submit about my experience. I am in to win AND, regardless who is selected as the recipient of the title, I have already won it in many ways!

I have won my life back!

As part of my exercise commitment, I have set a goal to walk 1000 miles during the 22 weeks....

AND,... yesterday I PASSED the Half-Way Mark

*breath*

*smile*

Love you all!

Linda

Aloha Linda!
Welcome to you!. You have quite and story...as do we all.
Your journey has been packed with lessons at an early stage, so the remaining 1/2 of your time in this form will be spent as an extremely wise and content woman! Congratulations!
I am very pleased to meet you. One of the many benefits of this walking practice I have made habit, is it gives me some very high quality "thinking" time. I often walk at night in the dark, as I am in a place where it is extremely safe to do that. I carry a cell, and I have it off, because I claim the time as "My time.' I set my pace, straighten my back, push my shoulders back, lift my chin, get the arm swing going, and then I move along my route with nothing but the stars and clouds and wind as companions. I rarely encounter a car. I wear a headlight, and keep it off unless there is oncoming traffic. I notice my breathing and my heart rate, and the air on my skin... About mile two, I begin to sweat, and I know that my body is happy with what I am doing... It is the perfect space to evaluate the various things competing for front burner in my life. It is a wonderful place to find clarity.
When we were called upon to think about what kind of community we would like to lead here within BraveHeart, I was at first moving in the direction of reaching out to persons who are locked in grief, as was my extended experience. However, it became clear to me that it is a much greater gift to encourage people to allow themselves to see the joy.... Hence, Let It Be Fun

Yes, I have achieved what at the outset appeared to be mighty lofty goals...as I will achieve the goal of covering 1000 miles on foot...and I am most proud of the fact, that I have allowed myself to have fun with it!

I look forward to walking this path with you Linda,

I am sooooo proud of you, of who you are and who you want to be. You have come along way from when I met you, but when I met you I knew right away what a special, unique person you were and I'm so glad that I got that chance to connect with you and know you. You go girl, you can do it!!! You are a WINNER!! Love ya girl!
Hi Linda,
WOW! You have reached many goals in that first 500 miles. That is incredible.
When I set myself goals, regardless how big or small, I always envision my finish line, as though my next step will cross it. I normally obtain it too. "We are what we believe we are" and I am a finisher / victor.

At times, I wondered if I was just a bad person waiting for something bad to happen because I had gone through sooooo much from childhood to 2005.
That is when I learned TRUST, letting go of fear. I learned first to love myself, letting go of me and allowing myself to be what God made me to be.

I was raised abused, verbally , had cancer twice before I was 25 yrs. old, was held up at gun point and raped in our own home at 1:00 PM in the after noon and had my 5 yr. old at home with me to know what was taking place. In his adult life, he became an alcoholic and I just knew it was all my fault. Then at the ripe old age of 39, I began having strokes. (wonder why)

I became angry and had no trust in anyone. When I learned to love myself, be myself and know that I could break the cycle's in my life, I became a new person. That is why I go by NuLinda. I deliver my story or stories to a lot of people that have no idea what they are lacking, we have all been there - done that, in some manner but have no clue where to begin to find that finish line. My first finish line was to find me. Then, to find that child that I was as a child. Full of love, faith, hope, charity, blessings and inspiration which continue to unfold daily. I no longer have to hide in a dark closet to be that person that I wanted everyone else to know as a child.

I believe you will find that here too in some sense of your desires. You deserve it all. What you have already obtained is such a tremendous journey and thanks for sharing that.
My next finish line is to see 140 on our scales again. At 63, I thought, I better not toss that rope out, I would never cross it. Oh, YES I CAN. and... I will before 2110. 9 months, 30 lbs. That's do-able!

So, welcome to BraveHeart Women, they are truly Brave in heart and full of wisdom, hope, support, encouragement, idea's, love and inspiration. An incredible journey is right here, every day.
Congratulations!!!!
Blessings continue to flow,:)
Linda
Aloha Audie!

Yes - PandaBerry is my frequent companion!

And Chloe - The Chow/Golden/Shepherd/Wolf!

Even Mona, the Chihuahua comes along on occasion. I had her with me one hot day, and she started to lag behind out of fatigue, so I picked her up and draped her around my neck.... Next thing I know...

...she starts to SNORE!

Happy puppies!
Hi Linda,

I wish I were the judge of your contest... You are the winner in my book.

Is Panda Berry walking with you towards your 500 mile goal?

love you
Audie
Aloha Debby!

Thanks for visiting my site. I appreciate your encouragement!
It has been quite an experience! I had truly lost the belief that I could do this at this tender young age of 59. In the past year I have released well over 100 pounds...Feels good... real good!
Now I'm actually strategizing a participation in Hawaii's Ironman Triathlon - We shall see.... If I were to complete any one of the segments in one day, it would be a landmark for me! :O

I'll get this 1000 miles out of the way first!

Welcome to BraveHeart! You are going to love it!

Warmly,
Linda
