Last night was eventful for Pacific Islanders. This is a time lapse photo collection of Kailua-Kona as the tsunami approaches, recedes exposing the reef, then roars over Alli'i drive. It is difficult to get details now. I believe there was no loss of life here on the Big Island. My prayers go out to those less fortunate in the wake of the 8.9 Earthquake in Japan

Thanks for posting! Thank God you are all safe and Hawaii was spared serious damage! My heart goes out to the people of Japan who had no warning.

Much love, Alison
I am glad to hear you are safe Barb!

Long night indeed! I am so grateful it was no worse.

Hilo and Kona are pretty well trashed. Lots of damage.

Get some rest and stay safe!
