Taking It Personally

Posted Feb 24, 2011 06:02 PM
When I take things personally, I am assuming that the other person cares enough about me to give a flip one way or the other about how something impacts me.

People think about themselves first…and frequently just really don’t have time to always be as considerate as would feel good to others. They are not being mean. They are being busy.

I am sure that I am unconsciously thoughtless at times. I strive to increase my awareness and correct that behavior. It is not the result of plotting against anyone. I’m flighty, disorganized, and have the attention span of a gnat. When you get caught in that trio, you may have bruises to show for it. – but only if you take it personally.

Good to hear from you Linda,

For years I, as Ellie puts it, "looked for reasons to be offended." I got very good at it!

Life is infinitely sweeter having let that go ( Thank You Ellie! )

Now I strive to "always be kinder than necessary because everyone I meet is fighting some kind of battle"

Growth!

Love you,

Linda
Aloha Linda,

Yes...you are so right! Thank you for your inspiring insights. :-x
When we wear our feelings on our sleeves, we set ourselves up to be impacted by another's actions. And generally those actions have nothing to do with us personally.

It is unfortunate that we are all so 'busy' however when we allow our awareness to take in the world around us, we can then strive to be more thoughtful and grateful for others.

In Gratitude...:-x
