Urge to Clean

Posted Mar 29, 2009 12:16 AM
What is it about Spring that increases our urge to clean??
I can't seem to stop. It makes me feel so darn good!

I have been cleaning my own home for over a month. A little bit here, a little bit there. It really feels great.
I even come home to find my husband dusting and vacuuming.

Now this week I am staying at my sisters home while she is away on vacation. It is a huge home, my little home would fit in her kitchen area alone. There are 10 rooms on the main floor and 14 in the basement.
I am taking some ME time but the urge to clean is so strong!
Maybe it is the artist in me. I see details. I want things to look their best.

She has had this home on the market for over a year now.
While here I keep noticing details that I think would turn off home buyers so I started to clean here too.
I put all the clutter away so that the home looks clean and uncluttered.
I emptied the pantry, washed the shelves and re organized . I think she will be quite surprised to see just how much soup she has. And how many extra shelves are in there.
In the laundry room I organized her storage cupboard and I think she will be happy to learn that she never has to buy cleaning supplies again. They were spread far and wide on all the different shelves but when I started to group them together I found she had been buying more of the same thing because she could not tell what she already had.

Organizing is wonderful. I was able to take several loads to the recycling bins. Both the pantry and the storage cupboard are easier to enter and to find things. I am hoping that potential buyers will think ." Oh what a lot of storage this house has" rather than " oh what a messy cupboard"

Some say cleaning is a chore ...but not for me.
I find that it brings out my creative side. I start with a jumbled mess and transform it into something tidy and neat. I feel good doing it, I feel good when it is done.

I clean each day but only do one chore. For example, I may clean the whole bathroom one day. Then I may clean the kitchen the next day. I am a professional artist here in Maine. I go outside almost everyday to paint. So I enjoy cleaning a small amount each day! It seems to work well! I create over 300 paintings each year! My house is always fairly clean! YOu can see my paintings on my website at www.ReneeLammers.com Happy cleaning!
Thank you for a great message. Most of the stuff we hang on to, we really don't need. So, why not set ourselves free from our attachment of our stuff (past).

Hi MaryAnn....

you gave me the chills...we are such kindred spirits. I could relate to everything, everything you said....well except for the husband dusting.

The artist in you, the creative side...wanting things clean and organized.....I have said this to people before and they look at me like a total goofball....

I look forward to meeting you one day my friend....

Much Love,

Sincerely,

hello MaryAnne!
This seems to be a theme I am attracting... humm, strong message in there for me? LOL!

I wrote a blog on this just the day Click here to check it out .

i had written that post, then the next day a friend offered an EFT session to help me clarify what I want to focus on. I decided to gain clarity, I must declutter the area I live in so I set to work cleaning (I hate cleaning! I would rather be at the beach!). That night I ran across a principle I was aware of, but had never heard this term- Vacuum Law of Prosperity... I found it not once, but twice... and in two different places!

Are there coincidences? I think it was the Universe's way of telling me I was "on track". Now your post, I feel the confirmation! Thank you!

Christine
Hi MaryAnn,

The cleaning bug comes and goes with me. Wish it would come more often. :)

I believe that even cleaning out the sock drawer faciliates flow in your life, helps with any blocking happening with your vibrations.

You have inspired me to clean and organize something now..

Gotta go and get busy.................

Things are only a chore when you don't like doing it or for some reason you are physically unable to do it satisfactory. Go ahead and enjoy what you are doing and you seem to be doing it well.

hi MaryAnn :) i agree! i love organizing and creating.. lately i've got the bug too ;)
i agree with what you shared:
"Maybe it is the artist in me. I see details. I want things to look their best."
since we moved to IL from NY we really are not officially settled in yet to a woman's standard.. at least a creative brave woman ;) haha! :) i love simplicity in art form. practicality mixed with personality! so, i am still awaiting my anticipant living room that has one tree, an empty balcony awaiting for garden pots and flowers and herbs soon,.. and our bedroom well it needs a reno! .. waiting for my writer's desk. thankfully a few small rooms look done, though i know they need some softening up still .. mostly i just love the healing energies of creating... and knowing it is for a nurturing environment. i have hospitality in my blood and just have the need to create comfortable environments that reflect the heart. looks like we have lots in common :)
good idea to rest up if she has 10 rooms.. or you'll be whipped by the time you come home! :) sometimes even a good thing can become too much ! take care.. luv Jen
