Do You Know What Kind Of Water You Drink? Health Matters

Posted Apr 8, 2009 09:34 PM
Don't Drink the Water.

Even though bottled water costs 2,000 times more than tap , many of us happily pony up, believing we're paying for purity (cue images of picturesque mountain springs and tropical aquifers). But turns out we might not be.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) recently released a report that found 38 different contaminants in 10 brands of bottled drinking water, including bacteria, acetaminophen, fertilizer, solvents, plastic-making chemicals, and the radioactive element strontium.

While public water supplies are regulated by the government , to bottled kind is not. The International Bottled Water Association, which represents most of the industry, has voluntary standards that companies can follow to make sure their products don't contain contaminants. But the association does not require bottlers to reveal what's in their water , where it comes from , or how and if it is purified.

But don't trade bottled water for tap without investing in a filter. Testing has shown that 40 percent of all bottled water is really tap water anyway, which comes with its own problems.

Recent studies found pharmaceuticals like antidepressants, sex hormones, and antibiotics in the water of 24 major US cities (including Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.)

Nonfiltration and reverse-osmosis systems have been shown to remove several drugs along with heavy metals and other chemicals.

Hi Deborah you are very welcome....just want people to be aware, since these companies are never going to be telling us at all.

Take care and have a great day. :)

Hi Lynnette,

No, I hadn't heard of Real2Water before but that is good to know... it just brakes my heart that this bottled water the bad one is being drank by innocent creatures (babies).... I have a 1 1/2 yr old and just thinking that I was giving her a water that I thought was the best was actually not. I have a reverse osmosis in my house that produces alkaline water as I've heard and read that is one of the best you can have. Is this water Real2Water going to be at regular stores? or is it out there already. That could be the next alternative for people that can't afford to buy a filter. Thanks for sharing that info Lynnette.

Take care and enjoy your day. :)

Hello Pammy,

I appreciate you sharing this info. as I am also particular about what I drink.

Are you aware that there is a brand new water on the market called Real2Water which is actually an alkaline and more importantly negatively ionized water.

In a nutshell, this means that the surface tension of the water is smaller and therefore the molecules get declumped and they get absorbed better.

The end result - you get more hydrated and the toxins get flushed more easily.

This water also has a fabulous taste.

I had heard this before, I use a filter on my water at home, for along time I had bought the bottled water, as it seem to taste better. Probably, just me thinking that. :)Joy
