I feel like Waldo...

Posted Aug 11, 2010 09:56 PM
Have you ever had that feeling? The one that you don't seem to know if you are coming or going? I was feeling like "Waldo", you know the guy that is always in those picture/puzzle things and you have to look for him...always in a different place. Anyway that is how it has been for myself recently.

My mother just recently went to the hospital with chest pains, the doctors believed she required open heart surgery for a leaky valve and a lot of blockages. I drove to Durango, Colorado and then the next afternoon she (we) were flown to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here they determined the valve was not leaking enough to repair/replace plus her heart is too small for a new valve. My mom is only 5 feet tall and weighs about 95 pounds. They did end up doing a "stent" in one artery then she was able to leave. After being gone for a week and a half I was glad to get home.

Of course all of these challenges were also an opportunity to grow and learn more. My family was able to come together and get some quality time together. We were able to face some difficult situations and support one another...a lesson in understanding, compassion and above all else Love. More lessons in patience, giving, releasing things that don't have true life value, gratitude.

Yet one of the best things about this was how much I was able to appreciate all the lessons I have learned since becoming a BraveHeart Woman. The breathing, the self confidence, the understanding of accepting things the way they are, thinking positive no matter the situation....there is a silver lining around the clouds. The fact that I could share with my siblings some of what I learned even without having to tell them...but by example, giving them strength, love and compassion in a new way.

By the way here is why I feel like Waldo....so far this summer I have been in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Utah and here at home in Wyoming! Where will I be next? California I trust....at RISE...right after another trip back to Colorado!

Becky.... aka.. Waldo

Your blog reminds me of how life used to be compared to how life is now.
In situations like what you've just experienced your growth as a BraveHeart Woman allowed you to stay more grounded and positive and go with the flow and even trust the process . And living by example is the best example of your growth to others .

I had to Laugh thinking back at a time not able to find you in a big house ... where's Waldo ...
I miss you my Green Eyed Sister !

Hi Rebecca,

This topic is something I can relate to very very well. One day you and I will talk in more detail...but for now let me just tell you my experience was in regard to a father who had chronic heart problems for 31 yrs. From the age of 36 to 67. Beginning with a heart attack, bypass surgery 3 different times..pace maker/difibrilator another and last was a heart transplant. What I can tell you from this experience is ..it truly taught my family what is truly important in life. However that doesn't mean to say we never forget every now and then and let the small stuff get in the way..but...I guess thats part of life as well. My advice is...To always get a second and sometimes even a third opinion. And don't be afraid to travel to get the best for your mom. We once flew my dad out to Wisconsin to have bypass surgery because all the doctors here in Pa. said he was to high a risk ( it being his third time and all) and no one would touch him here. Had we listened to them my dad would have passed on long ago..BUT..his cardiologist here suggested this specialist out there and well.. Dad lived another 13 yrs until his next adventure haha I could write a story regarding this ..Seems as though it goes on and on..But anyway if you ever need a good cardiologist just let me know.. because you have one right there in Arizona at the Mayo Clinic who I would highly recommend if you want someone for an honest opinion.

talk to you soon

Dear Becky,

You are a traveling BraveHeart whirlwind - obviously going with the flow! ! ! ;)

So sorry to hear about your Mom's plight, yet happy that your family was able to gather in love and oneness and to learn from you.

Where will you find yourself next? Internally, in peace and calm; externally, it doesn't matter. We love you 'no matter what'! ! ! :-x
