Do You Take A Coffee Break For Your Soul?

Posted Mar 9, 2009 09:26 PM
"Coffee Breaks for your soul" - when I first heard this expression this morning - I thought how brilliant!

How many of us actually stop during our very busy day and take soul breaks?

Can you imagine taking time to quiet your mind - to let go of an emotional charge on something - to take a minute to observe nature - to read an empowering passage...you get the picture - something that would help rejuvenate you as you went along?

Why do we frequently feel that we do not have time for such things? Why do we feel that we don't deserve those precious few moments at regular intervals?

Can you begin to see how things in your work environment or in your home could change for the better, if you started taking a few minutes to rejuvenate your soul, and actually feel good?

Much of our daily stress is caused by how we habitually respond to events and circumstances - rather than the actual event or circumstance. We must learn to stop giving our power away - we frequently to so by letting others gain control over our internal well being - by letting them push our buttons. We can all choose to stop that behavior today.

An event + a reaction = an outcome. We do not get to control events, but we can certainly control how we respond to events, therefore changing the outcome and starting to reduce our level of stress.

These types of concepts are simple yet powerful - if you choose to implement them in your daily life. You can find much more on this topic and other related topics by visiting http://www.mercola.com.

I do not like to recommend something until I have tried it out and have seen for myself the validity of the information and/or products. I have learned much from Dr. Mercola's site and I use his "Focus" and "Insight" CDs when working at my computer, in order to help me gain clarity and stay focused.

Once again, do not give your power away - simply get the information and see how it fits for You!

Coffee break? I stay on one. Just kidding. I am in the process of having a cement bench put up by a pond in the pasture. I have just started "the country life" after being raised in the cities from the West Coast to Dallas. I swore for many years to my husband and his family - "I will NEVER live in that God forsaken country!!" Would you believe?; I came here all by myself, found a house and some land then pulled 'that sweet woman personality' out of the bag and said "Honey, have I got a surprise for you!" This is his home land - literally. We came the next weekend to see some of his family and I just drove up to the house in the country. Never say never - hum, where have we heard that?
I have Doves out by the walk to the pond. I am inspired by the cooing and the love for them - I am going to sit by the pond - have my coffee, daily devotional, listen to the birds, and write. That is my coffee break and I cannot wait for that bench, (so the cows and calves cannot knock me down)
This gives me a short break from Mother, Doyle is putting up a cow bell on the back of the house this weekend so I can see and hear Mother's call if she needs me, I can let go for just a short time of her dementia that is controlling a large part of my time. So, time alone, peace and quiet to communicate with my higher power while on my morning coffee break..
Linda
Quality time for yourself is so important. I certainly could use more of it.

Dr. Mercola is the best! I am so loving being with people who search out this type of advice! Our children need it in the toxic environment we live in!!

So, talking about coffee breaks, I just posted information on FREE Seattle's Best Coffee next month in the Passion Parent Community (in the topic section- great deals!).

Here's to being a Passion Parent!

Hi Lynette

I love the term " coffee break for the soul."

For many many years I owned and was fully engaged in a Pre-school/daycare business.

A break during the day was just not in the cards on most days.

After retiring and starting this farm project, my first promise to myself was " break time for my soul, my mind, my spirit."

We are going into the 6th year of business and the growing season gets pretty hectic combined with the retail and the educational arms of the project.

But...from 12 noon until 2 pm I do nothing but sit, meditate and relax. No phone, no TV, no books...just me and my thoughts...and those are not allowed to wander into heavy thinking.

I'm charged for the rest of day until I cut off at 4 pm.

It is the best gift I have allowed myself to claim.

Thanks for sharing and allowing me to share also.

Have a Majestic March~

Lynette,
I will look into Dr. Mercola sounds interesting and useful. I really like the idea of "Coffeebreak for the Soul". I agree it should be self mandatory. Women are the worst at taking care of ourselves, we take care of everyone and everything else we really need to have a daily few moments for that break that takes care of us.

Hi Lynette,

Like you, I have learned a lot from Dr. Mercola and I use the Focus and Insight CD's too.

When I am having a mentally 'fuzzy' day, I will play them and my mind will clear and I find I am more relaxed.

Coffee Breaks for the soul .... it should be self mandatory!

Pawsitive thoughts,
