Your NOT To Do List

Posted Feb 21, 2009 11:00 PM
How often have I written a to do list to make sure I don't forget the important stuff and to help me be focused... too many times to even attempt to count.

Today, I thought maybe I should make up a Not To Do List - as that is just as important as what I do choose to do. Every time I say yes to something unimportant that means I have less time for the real important things in my life - it means I am saying no to what could better serve me.

So my question to myself today is "How can I create more space in my day, so that I can allow the time I desire, to flow into my life so that I may do more of what I am passionate about and that will eventually bring me more of my desired results?"

If I apply the 80/20 rule - 80% of my time should be focused on the 20% that is most significant.

Therefore that means it is time once again to eliminate any physical, mental, emotional clutter that has accumulated in the last while and that is taking up space, time and energy that would be best devoted elsewhere.

Would you like to share your favorite decluttering tip?

Thank you for your comments Robin - this is a skill that is so worthwhile honing ...and some of the distractions are habits and they can be corrected - one step at a time.

:)
I am already imagining the greater results.

Have a terrific day!

Lynette,

What a great commentary, and so very important. People let distractions, and interruptions get in the way of their productivity. Controlling the amount of interruptions in your day is critical.

Think about how many times you let that little noise in your computer, you know, the one that let's you know you have a new email, get you off task.

Do you accept calls while you are trying to focus on a project? I know for me, I had to start really paying attention to these interruptions and start eliminating them so that I could get the most out of my work day.
