Meditation - why bother or better yet do you need to bother?

I hope your week is going well and that you have been able to take a few minutes for yourself despite the busyness of work...

Meditation - why bother or better yet do you need to bother?

What I can share from personal experience is that meditation is worth taking the time to do, and to learn to do in a way that fits for you. I have to admit I did not always feel like this, as I had experienced difficulty in stopping the thoughts from gushing forth.

However, with a little time and some patience, I discovered much to my delight, the benefits of quieting the mind. Here is what you can gain from such a practice:

- develop a sense of peace
- eliminate fatigue
- find clarity of purpose
- reduce stress
- reduce pain

but more importantly it offers you the opportunity to have a direct connection with your Higher source, Spirit, Higher consciousness, God, (use the term that fits for you).

Don't let anyone tell you that there is only one way to quiet the mind. There is no right or wrong way to meditate. Learn to Be You Own Wizard. You can start with a few minutes and expand from there. As always, you can Google the topic and you'll find incredible resources.

Like Nike says ... Just do it!

Hi Audie,

Thanks for the taking the time to provide your feedback. It is a great reminder about the breath because I have also used that as well. I will make a point of listening to the interview shortly.

Have a wonderful day,

Hi Lynette,

I just finished watching Ellie interview Lindsay Wagner on Braveheart Women TV.

It was an incredible conversation. Lindsay Wagner discusses different techniques on how to quiet our minds.

She made an interesting point about not trying to stop the chatter in your mind because you will develop a resistance and that will just make it stronger because it is trying to fight back.

Bring yourself back to focus on your breath This is something you can think about which will quiet your mind and keep you in the present moment.

In yoga, this is one of the goals to tame the 'monkey mind'. You are right it gets better with practice and the benefits are tremendous.
