New start

Posted Jun 23, 2009 04:58 PM
I have embarked on a journey that i am excited and fearful about all at the same time.

I have been disabled since 1998 after suffering a stroke that paralyzed me on my left side. I am walking and doing okay now but I do still have some medical issues to deal with.

I decided to go back to school and take up paralegal studies but I am fearful somewhat because I want a more fulfilling and enriched life but going back to work and losing my source of income and security is what i have to get past. I know that this is something i would be good at but I have never gone out on a limb for myself, it has always been for other people and their happiness.

If you want something bad enough I do believe that you have to fight for what you want. It is hard to seek what makes me happy when I have never done so before. I hope that through connecting with other positive women that I can overcome this fear and I do know that through faith in God this too shall pass.

I can relate. I am also thinking about going back to school. I never went to college because at the time things where so hectic for me and I just kept putting it off. But, if being a paralegal is your dream then you should go for it!
Hi Joyce:

I went back to school later in life. At 51, I graduated from culinary school. It's not easy, but you get into the routine and keep yourself focused on your goal. You are worth it!

In friendship,
Barbara
Hi Joyce,

You are a BraveHeartWoman. Do you really want to be a paralegal? Is this your passion?

What is your passion? Like "phoenixris" suggested go into meditation and prayers and ask for clear guidance and
follow your heart. Do not settle if your heart is not in it
100%.

Remember: with God all things are possible! He will move mountains for us,when we ask and keep in faith.
You are a strong woman and I know, that you are capable of doing great things.
You are in great company here and we support you.

Hello Joyce:

YOU are the first important decision you make. It starts with you. Going back to school is awesome! Don't think about the fear, think how good it will feel to be doing something great for yourself. Doing something you have been wanting to do.

YOU ARE WORTH IT!
So, sing loud, and fill yourself with Happy. Feel good now about your future goals!

Like you, Joyce, I have struggled with fear all of my life. When I'm really deep in the battle, I meditate and pray. I also repeat positive mantas and life affirming quotes. Two of my favorite quotes are: "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure . . . than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried" (Teddy Roosevelt). And . . . "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you feel you cannot do" (Eleanor Roosevelt).

You are a brave woman who has already overcome so much. You can do this, my friend. Peace and blessings to you on your journey!

Loose the fear Joyce and let go and let God. I learned from my friend Ellie Drake that, "It's Easier Done Than Said. " :-x I have learned to overcome many obstacles and challenges believing in God and those words.
