LOVE RESCUE ME

Found this video: Bill Moyers of PBS interviewing producer MARK JOHNSON, the director of PLAYING FOR CHANGE ~ PEACE THROUGH MUSIC.
It's a 13 minute video about a man who is making a difference in the world through MUSIC. Since I've featured some of his the CD music on my blog recently, and because much of what's he's shared with the world has touched my HEART so deeply... and the hearts of many others... I felt it appropriate to share him explaining his PASSION to you!

Here's the HEART and PASSION behind
PLAYING FOR CHANGE ~ PEACE THROUGH MUSIC's
movement
... building music schools
around the world where
children need hope and inspiration!

MARK JOHNSON

You can find out much more about Mark's work, his world music collaborations, his passion, and his humanity by visiting: playingforchange.com

As children, we imagined so many things, and felt like there was no limits to what our imaginations would deliver us while we played. We never doubted our imaginations, we never failed to use our imaginations when life around us was peaceful. And when it wasn't... we used our imaginations to escape reality and find a better one.

I have always loved
John Lennon's song, IMAGINE...
and found a video that touched me
and I imagine it will touch you also

JOHN LENNON'S
IMAGINE and his song
LOVE IS REAL

Regardless of
race ~ religion

We are ALL one...

Here's a unique video I found touchingly
right on... perhaps there's something
about it you'll find fascinating also

Religion must be
the cause of UNITY...

WORLD PEACE PLEASE...

WORLD RELIGION DAY

L~O~V~E

I often have wondered how the word PEACE appears in other countries, other cultures' languages... and over the years I've seen a few. I searched cyber space for more examples and came up with a large number of variations on the English version of PEACE. I INjoyed it, perhaps you will also and perhaps you can add one to the list!

THE WORD PEACE

in many, many, many world languages...
so peace may look and sound differently
around good earth...

but the common denominator
hopefully one day will become
that ALL humans have
PEACE within
themselves....

then our world can
know her PEACE at last!

This is the first in a loose series of posts I plan on doing on various BRAVEHEARTED WOMEN that have touched down here on planet earth. And in their own unique ways...
absolutely MADE A DIFFERENCE...

Look what Olive Oil and
Lucy have done !

In the words of
our dear late
PEACE PILGRIM...

"We who work for peace must not falter. We must continue to pray for peace and to act for peace in whatever way we can, we must continue to speak for peace and to live the way of peace; to inspire others, we must continue to think of peace and to know that peace is possible."

"In order for the world to become peaceful, people must become more peaceful. Among mature people war would not be a problem - it would be impossible. In their immaturity people want, at the same time, peace and the things which make war. However, people can mature just as children grow up. Yes, our institutions and our leaders reflect our immaturity, but as we mature we will elect better leaders and set up better institutions. It always comes back to the thing so many of us wish to avoid: working to improve ourselves.

Peace Pilgrim's brief biography
would read like this:

Her pilgrimage spanned almost three decades beginning January 1, 1953, in Pasadena, California. The Korean War was in progress. She continued walking for 28 years, spanning the American involvement in the Vietnam War and beyond. Peace Pilgrim was a frequent speaker at churches, universities, and local and national radio and television.

Expressing her ideas about peace, she referred to herself only as "Peace Pilgrim." Peace Pilgrim's only possessions were the clothes on her back and the few items she carried in the pockets of her blue tunic which read "Peace Pilgrim" on the front and "25,000 Miles on foot for peace" on the back. She had no organizational backing, carried no money, and would not even ask for food or shelter. When she began her pilgrimage she had taken a vow to "remain a wanderer until mankind has learned the way of peace, walking until given shelter and fasting until given food."

On July 7, 1981, while being driven to a speaking engagement near Knox, Indiana, Peace Pilgrim was killed in an automobile accident. At the time of her death, she was crossing the United States for the seventh time. After her death, she was cremated, and her ashes were interred in a family plot near Egg Harbor City, New Jersey.

I find it ironic that for all the years she walked across the US almost 7 times, she leaves our human experience while riding in a car! I remember hearing about her on the news while amidst raising my kids and being that harried housewife, mother, homemaker. I use to think it would take one really brave woman to do that, and yet watching interviews with her and watching the following video on her, lets you know that she had absolutely NO fear! She knew she was to do what she was doing and she COULD NOT NOT DO her thing! I hope you'll view this video, it's well done, gentle and relaxing and insightful about life and living with PASSION.

Here is an exquisite video
of the BRAVEHEARTED WOMAN
known to the world
as...

PEACE PILGRIM

As tears fall... pause and give tribute to ALL
who have fallen in the name of bringing
peace to a world in need of singing
that all humans may stand TALL

Shall we all give
PEACE a CHANCE ?

and give this video a chance
to grow on you...
it really does in an
odd sort of way...

:-x My dear BHW sister and friend Lisa...
Your heartfelt warm and sincerity always is felt in the words you so caringly share with others. I always welcome and appreciate your presence in my life, my BHW reality.

And as you shared, peace within is indeed a key to evolving one's framework of understanding, of deepening one's convictions of the heart, of expanding one's feeling ability and of REALizing the continuing search for truth, inner peace, joy and strength of character.

Without inner peace we become confused or lost to the pettinesses or those little details in our lives. Those little disruptions can easily consume us when our focus moves away from that inner center and point of power and clarity. This is a good reason to find quiet time everyday or a few moments of stillness... where we allow a few deep, relaxed long breaths taken slowly in and out.

Within just a few of these intentioned breaths, we come into a place of quieted focus, a peaceful opportunity to explore within ourselves for subtle and gentled input as is so felt by us. In our moments of busyness and scurrying about to get things done many 'signs' or clues are lost to those issues we must focus on at work, as the mother, as the caregiver or homemaker.

I agree with you Lisa for that PEACE INN is truly where the wise among us will visit frequently... to rediscover and re-member with our answers, to feel our real issues and to heal those areas of our lives that are sometimes out of focus just a little bit.

As always my BraveHearted,
friend, sister, fellow earth being...
I thank you, your heart and your soul
for sharing your wisdom, kindness and
inspiration, just by being who and how and
why you are just as YOU are,

Salanda

:-x Thanks Alison so much for sharing... yes I viewed your favorite video on PEACE PILGRIM also... and might have been a tad wiser to use that one... but now that you've shared it here, we have most the bases covered! THANK YOU very much!! Collaboration is so vital isn't it?

Peace Pilgrim was definitely a BraveHeart Woman and I was so sorry that she passed prematurely. I am certain she touched many lifes, changed and evolved many others and her spirit and purpose live on as there remains Peace Pilgrim friends actively sharing her endeavors of peace, unity and passion with the world.

In regards to the STAND BY ME video from PLAYING FOR CHANGE ~ PEACE THROUGH MUSIC, I posted it as a segment in part 3 of the Earth Day series on April 18th... as it is so moving and inspiring to anyone who listens to it. It inspires us to work together, to COLLABORATE in any way we can, with others... to bring positive changes to our world. A planet home in definite need of more unity and oneness of human minds, hearts and spirits.

I also share a great video of Mark Johnson, a grammy award winner and producer of the Playing for Change ~ Peace Through Music CD/DVD. In this 11 minutes segment, he talks with Bill Moyers of PBS, about how he and his group built a school for music right on the spot where he and his crew, had in months earlier filmed singers and musicians.
After filming on location, he asked the folks(who had fed and housed them) what they could do for them in return. Their Capetown Sourth African area is strickened with poverty and AIDS. They told him they could use a music school for some hope and inspiration for the children. Done deal now!

Mark plans to build more schools and link them via the internet to connect young people as they find hope and passion through song and music. We'll be able to view concerts performed by these young people in these schools from wherever we may live.

Now there's someone making a difference in one of Mother Earth's neighborhoods, in dire need of it. BLESS HIS HEART and the hearts of those assisting in the cause of PLAYING FOR CHANGE MUSIC SCHOOLS around the planet. Keep on keepin' on Mark Johnson and friends!

Alison I cannot THANK YOU enough for adding to and expanding my post, it is kind of you to stop by and collaborate, which you do so well. You are always buzzing about, doing whatever you can or have time to do... and ALWAYS it adds to the moment. You can land in my blog garden anytime. And your LONGEVITY GARDEN is a definite place to find healing vibrations and inspiration toward regaining or maintaining one's health and well-being!

All blessings to you
and your hearted endeavors
that add to and enhance all human
lives on Mother Earth,

Salanda

Dear Salanda,

Our wonderful Ellie Drake is continuously stating "Peace In" and it has been resonating with me as I listen and learn each day to connect with my self and find that peace that is within knowing that it is how I am able to do all that I can with the help from above.

"Peace Inn" is the answer for us all. When we have that and are connected to the source that is where our true power and potential is waiting for us to tap into it....Sharing it with others along the way.

Peace Pilgrim was and still is an Incredible Inspiring Woman of Faith Peace and Love.

You are truly an Inspirational Woman!!!:-x Thank you for sharing your wisdom and love with us all...It shows how much you love yourself too, in all you do....

Blessings with Peace Love & Light,
Lisa
Dear Salanda,

This is so much fun reading your current blogs and traveling down memory lane.

Not only do I completely enjoy Playing For Change, and ages ago posted my favorite which I see has been viewed over 30 million times Stand By Me, but Peace Pilgrim was a formative part of my development. I love the way she nurtured her inner terrain to the point that she was so connected to the divinity within that she no longer experienced fear or attachment. Here's one of my favorite video interviews of her.

Thanks so much for sharing all this delightful inspiration with us!
