Finish Each Day And Be Done With It!

Posted Jan 11, 2010 10:49 PM
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson~

~It is easy to be concerned about not accomplishing the day's work, because everything on the "to do list", did not get done, but how refreshing to know that I can chose to put that day behind and anticipate tomorrow, a new day, with new opportunities and another chance to do my best.~

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead

~Apostle Paul (Philippians 3:13).~

This is such a great reminder!

I had a chaotic day yesterday...urgent deadlines, umpteen client phone calls, sudden course changes, the whole ball of wax. I was mentally exhausted and fell asleep right after dinner. When I woke up this morning, I put all of those nagging feelings behind me and started fresh.

It's the proverbial case of not crying over spilt milk...you can't put it back in the carton, so don't even bother with it. Clean up the mess and move on. Don't keep talking about it and reliving it...otherwise you continue to give it power over you. Walk away!!!
Thank you Debra for sharing that awesome quote of Ellie's,

That is really beautiful. Isn't it a blessing to know that we see new mercies each day, and we can choose to leave our yesterdays behind?

Love,

Pauline
You are on target Pauline. :-D Your thoughs remind me of one of Ellie's quotes:

My future is no longer an extension of the past. I now ask to be led toward a destiny that outshines my history.

I now realize that everyday I am given a blank canvas on which I can gracefully paint.

I now surrender my human will to Divine will and trust that I will be lead on a journey of becoming.

That is indeed my destiny. ~ Ellie Drake

What use is it to worry about the past? It robs us of our ability to function in the present and to prepare for the future.
