Are You in Control of Your Life?
Sheila, I don't know how I missed your comments above! I just read everything. All so beautiful, thanks for sharing. I can totally relate on many levels! "Our bodies are our vehicles"...wow, so true! In all those years with feelings of isolation in doing it ALL, I look back now and realize what a strong women and caregiver I really was! And, that my strength through those days made me who I am today as a person. Strangely enough, now it is "I" who am approaching this same fate as so many others..wondering who will step in to help me when I will need it! I love that you are a body worker...you bring such healing and energy to so many of us who need to rejuvinate and feel special, i.e., whole! ~Peggy Hi Janie, Your valuable tips for Warrior Caregivers are important for everyone to follow...! 'Take time for yourself'.....priceless insight for all! Taking control of your life and knowing it is okay to say NO is loving and caring for yourself...for your own peace and care-giving...as well as for others. As you pointed out, the Fall/September always seems to be the best time to re-organize and re-evaluate your goals and set the next steps of your journey. Thank you for your dedication in 'marching forward for those we love'. In Gratitude... Linda Kay Holden New Beginnings Community Hi Peg~Janie, My purpose IS Caregiving..... Sometimes it seems the timing is never right... myself in a matter of minutes! And of course, can't forget about Leverage! Without these preventative measures....my practice would have had a life span of only 7 years! So to all the Care givers out there... Our bodies are our vehicles, Sheila Hi Janie...I've been a CNA/Caregiver for many years, not only to my own parent, but professionally to others. I am here to say that many caregivers feel isolated in caring for others and the outside world really doesn't "get it" when it comes to having free time of your own to play and rejuvinate. It can take it's toll most definiately and what is really needed is to take time for yourself to heal the negativity that is often encounted in the daily interactions with those less fortunate. It can be physically and emotionally draining. It's not easy work, but work that can be rewarding should you choose to see the impact you can make on peoples lifes. We too may need the help of others as we age and go forward on this journey. So I welcome any of you out there who would like to share your stories and/or comments. Peace ~ Peg
