Sheila, I don't know how I missed your comments above! I just read everything. All so beautiful, thanks for sharing. I can totally relate on many levels! "Our bodies are our vehicles"...wow, so true! In all those years with feelings of isolation in doing it ALL, I look back now and realize what a strong women and caregiver I really was! And, that my strength through those days made me who I am today as a person. Strangely enough, now it is "I" who am approaching this same fate as so many others..wondering who will step in to help me when I will need it!
I love that you are a body worker...you bring such healing and energy to so many of us who need to rejuvinate and feel special, i.e., whole!

Hi Janie,

Your valuable tips for Warrior Caregivers are important for everyone to follow...! :)
'Take time for yourself'.....priceless insight for all!

Taking control of your life and knowing it is okay to say NO is loving and caring for yourself...for your own peace and care-giving...as well as for others.
As you pointed out, the Fall/September always seems to be the best time to re-organize and re-evaluate your goals and set the next steps of your journey.
Thank you for your dedication in 'marching forward for those we love'.

In Gratitude...:-x

Hi Peg~Janie, My purpose IS Caregiving.....:-x...I have been an intuitive bodyworker for 15 years. I specialize in "out-come' based massage, and my clients read like a "who's who list." I have always been one to strive to understand why so many people after recovery, were still facing some of the same "adhesions" from the past. I structured my research and certifications to encompass a wide scope of practice.......I am "Empathic"....(talk about needing time to myself)..;\...I used myself as a "guinea pig", holding onto things much to long, but using my time in these degrees wisely. Trying various modalities that would give a gesture of relief and renewal to those that "just wanted to move beyond the pain", but were having trouble accomplishing this through regular medical treatments...ie: bringing a bit of consistency back to their lives. Survivors are special, and need focused attention on their concerns, and what brings on the anxiety again. Also cases of fibromyalgia, where many times in the last 10 years, there wasn't a positive test for. "Pelvic Tilt," and the stress on the hip joint. Diabetics who needed an answer to the repetitive stress of their very active lives.........the list goes on, and every story is unique.....as are the creative sessions. It is very demanding work! But when I had dysfunctions...:O..I was misdiagnosed, and couldn't find a body worker that could understand that you can't put my neck in traction..:(..you have to compress it! So that was the motivation to follow my "soul's purpose." I am known as "The Last Resort".....after 2 or 3 carpal tunnel surgeries.?:|...the question is "What can I do?! I don't want anymore surgeries! Yes, they are special....but we need to attend to our needs as well!
Sometimes it seems the timing is never right...:_|..but with tapping, I am able to get that nap, or re-balance
myself in a matter of minutes! And of course, can't forget about Leverage! Without these preventative measures....my practice would have had a life span of only 7 years! So to all the Care givers out there...;)...take that step, take that breath, and give love and patience to yourselves!
Our bodies are our vehicles,
Sheila
Hi Janie...I've been a CNA/Caregiver for many years, not only to my own parent, but professionally to others. I am here to say that many caregivers feel isolated in caring for others and the outside world really doesn't "get it" when it comes to having free time of your own to play and rejuvinate. It can take it's toll most definiately and what is really needed is to take time for yourself to heal the negativity that is often encounted in the daily interactions with those less fortunate. It can be physically and emotionally draining. It's not easy work, but work that can be rewarding should you choose to see the impact you can make on peoples lifes. We too may need the help of others as we age and go forward on this journey. So I welcome any of you out there who would like to share your stories and/or comments.
Peace ~ Peg
