Be blessed Patricia Hi Lisette, I believe that a lot of people let life lead them where it will and many times it just works out. There are other people that know their passion and destiny as early as childhood. And still there are others that seem to continually seek something that seems forever illusive. First and foremost consider what you told us that you love. Your family, the outdoors, your job, your friends. That seems a great and full life! Congratulations! I would suggest that you take stock of your talents and things that you are attracted to, such as reading and meditating. The skills and talents you have attained in life so far must be a signal as to what your passions are. What are your favorite things to do? Those are signs of your passions. When I was a child I wanted to grow up and do something creative like write books or design things or be an artist. My parents guided me into accounting because I was good in math and it was more "practical". Turns out that my creative side wouldn't let go and today I'm a web developer that uses both my mathematical and creative sides. I love what I do today. Since I prefer not living by the clock, I built my own business. It took quite a while before I achieved the success I have today, but I kept at it because it's what I really wanted. Do you keep a journal? Daily writing often brings to the forefront what your passion is and helps you see a clear path to achieving it. Always write with the question in your mind... what is my passion and purpose. I'll bet the answer comes to you! I hope that helps in some way. Best Wishes, Deb Dear Lisette, I have had several "passions and purposes" over my life: *childbirth educator *teaching and developing awesome programs for special needs kids for 30 years until I was injured *Special Opportunities recreation and leisure program for special needs young adults for 10 years *"being there" for my kids and grandchildren's activities - a very important lifetime commitment *director and helper with various church activities for kids and youth for 12 years *Opportunities For Enrichment educational, caregiving, and enrichment program for all ages for 2 years All these were successful some for short term and some for many years. But they all have one thing in common. They were all taken away, folded, and evaporated right before my eyes. So, I am again at 56, following injuries and surgeries, with no job, trying to contemplate and pray for guidance as to what is the next step. Do I get a "regular" job or continue to follow my dreams. I guess I"m trying to do some of both right now. Some advice - "keep your day job" while you develop your passion, and remember those teenagers take a lot of time, and they love you "being there" even if they claim that they don't. Part of my unrest is that my daughter just finished junior college and is transferring to a university this August. Time flies!! Your passion will present itself. Love, Stephanie stephie's stuff Hi Lisette, First, let me start by saying welcome to this amazing global community. You're in the right place to be inspired. Here's my simple truth for you today. In truth, you are right where you're suppose to be. What I mean by this is, when were in that searching place for your authentic truth and when you give ourselves grace and allow truth to unfold itself, sometimes (I honestly think most of the time) the answer we seek is right in front of us. Sometimes finding our purpose is as easy as just finding ourselves. Go back to the basics. What inspires you? What do you like? What makes you smile? Connect to those truths again and see if your purpose doesn't manifest itself all on its own. Be still and listen to your soul. Live Outrageously Well, Anita Hi Lisette, I'm so new to this site (and my life, basically) that I just about squeak! You and I seem to be in the same place....how do I know this particular thought/idea/dream is really my life's calling? I have had so many 'great' ideas over the years and nothing has come to fruition. I don't know how to live out loud, or trust my gut, or be a brave woman. Please know that I'll keep you and your journey in my thoughts. Cathy PS: I, too, was led to this site just a few days ago and I have no idea how I found it. I love it and I'll be coming back every day and exploring how I can be a contributing member and also, finally allowing myself the gift of receiving the goodness of intent on this wonderful site. Hi Lisette, When I read your blog, I had to stop and think back. How did I know for sure what my passion and purpose was. Truthfully, it has been unfolded. It has been a journey. I have watched it grow out of a small spark into something that when I am not doing something with it I still feel inspired to do something. The things I see and experience draw more out of me for my purpose. The people that I come in contact with are a constant reminder and inspiration for me to keep doing it. To go deeper with it, to touch things that on my own, I would probably leave alone, but my passion and purpose will not allow me to leave it alone. I think someone said it, with my passion and purpose there is joy. Joy in seeing healing and inspiration unfold in the lives of those around me. I enjoy doing what I do and when I am not doing it, something is missing in my life. Your question is a good one. For me it just unfolded. My prayer for each of us is that it will be so obvious we can't miss it. Blessings sis. Angela New Beginnings Holistic Fitness Ministries, Inc. www.mynewtemple.org I have no words of wisdom on this matter. I'm in the same boat you're in, and just wanted to let you know you are not alone. Thank you for being so brave and asking this question so I didn't have to. Hi Lisette, You are so brave to post this and I think so many people are where you are. Here are some suggestions I tell my clients. 1) Whatever you decide, make sure your joy is in the equation. Find your joy, your fun factor. Wherever your joy factor is, is your God connection is and this is a good thing. So, for example, does your home business bring you joy? I would start there in determining if that is the one for you. I went through multiple entrepreneurial ventures before coming to one I liked and each one informed the next one. Your passion and purpose will NOT be far from your joy. That's a good barometer (to answer your question). 2) Sometimes you don't know what your purpose or passion is, but you know how you like to FEEL. You know the Qualities you want to exchange or reciprocate or appreciate. So, you might write a list, "I want to feel . . . " and keep exhausting that list and then once exhausted, ask yourself "what sorts of things make me feel this way?" 3) You are ALWAYS in co-creation. So, you put out the question. Now, look for your answers in clues that are given. What are you resonating with? What cool idea came in your inbox that is worth exploring? What show or information did you recently come across that perked your attention or made your heart sing? Follow your clues. You are working WITH the divine who is attempting to give you your answers. Are you paying attention to them? Trust your intuition. 4) Release resistance. There is no right answer, there is only the next logical step, and then the next logical step. Keep fists unclenched, dispose of any time lines and PLAY MORE. The answers always come when you're not necessarily looking for them. 5) You don't have to trust in the unknown. Just disperse of distrust. Have faith that the answers will come in the perfect timing for you. And that it will unfold at the right pace for you. 6) Finally, I have to throw this one in there: why does a passion and purpose have to be so grand? Can it be that your passion and purpose is exactly what you are living? A loving relationship, fabulous children, and a job that you love? Sometimes the most courageous act is to claim, own and honor the life we are living instead of looking outside of ourselves to find a way to give it more meaning. Your life is already meaningful. Your contribution is huge (already!). Your contribution, even to this post is purposeful. So, while you are searching, take that in, too. I just say this because sometimes while we are in search of ourselves, we have to stop and say, "Wait a minute. Here I am. I'm doing it! I'm living it. My life is living proof. I am living a passionate and purposeful life, right now!" Hope some of this is helpful. Keep on keeping on. You're closer than you think. Live Out Loud, Sonya www.omfreely.com Also, if you want to email me, I have some Jack Canfield exercises that were helpful to me in discovering my passion and purpose. Send me an email: sonya@omfreely.com You can also visit my website for free resources that may be informative: www.omfreely.com While there, you can get a free copy of my ebook: Om Freely: 30 Ways to Live out Loud and get a complimentary subscription to my Ezine: Monday Morning Memos, that goes out weekly. I write them myself and they consist of tips, tools, suggestions and support to help you live your life out loud. Lisette, First - how very courageous of you to ask that question! It took me years to get up the guts to even pose it to myself, muchless anyone else! But the best news (in my eyes) is that by posing it to yourself, and experiencing the BHW site/members, you are living your passion - the passion to be happy! This is a new leg in the journey of your time here and it's an exciting one, especially now! Simply - because you've started to open your eyes to what's "out there", you're not going to have anything NEW in your life, you'll just NOTICE it now! And... as you notice things, the ideas & thoughts that make you the happiest will lead you toward the next portion of your journey - what some might call, following their passion. Just remember - you've already acknowledged that YOU are your passion simply by being here, and looking within. With that, and continuing to show gratitude for what you have, the journey is sure to be full and amazing! Enjoy!! Please feel free to connect with me! -Tanya PS - I'm fairly new here on BHW myself, but every time I'm here, I pick up a new "energy" for the day that drives me to new heights in my thinking and awareness. Incredible! Hi Lisette, I just want to add a quick bit of information to add to all the great responses you've received. It is this: When you embark on creating a life that reflects your personal life purpose and your inner core, there is an important shift in focus that is helpful. Your answers to these two questions can serve as a guideline to keep you on your path. Are you and your life a problem to be solved? Or... Are you and your life a reality to be experienced? Often, we grow and progress by standing up to challenges and therefore we become an expert in "surviving" through problem solving. The next stretch is to give up the top rung of survival mentality in favor of starting a new climb that is focused on thriving. Thriving happens one step at a time, in full partnership with the Universe. Sounds like your thriving journey has already started. Congrats! Warmly, Susan Hi Lisette, Listen to your heart....the core of your being! Trust and be confident in YOU knowing that you are a BraveHeart Woman....and becoming more of the woman you were born to be. Remember... every day is a new beginning, a fresh chance to replenish, restart, renew and be all that you hope to be! To your journey of joy and confidence... Linda Kay Holden New Beginnings Community Thank you to all those who have responded to my question. You have all given me such wonderful words of wisdom and encouragement. I truly am grateful that you are all there. I feel lighter already and I'm smiling on the outside and very much on the inside. God Bless Lisette Lisette, You are where you need to be, I just posted a blog on my purpose ....All I can say is that Ellie Drake and Dr. Sugar helped changed my life by teaching me what my purpose is IN LIFE and I think you need to attend Dr.Sugas next retreat in August just make it happen ...you will have so much clarity in your life .....Trust me.............With HOPE, COURAGE AND DIVINITY ..........Lisa Feel joy in every moment. When your thoughts take you to a place that cause you to feel bad, then change your thoughts to active a new feeling. The more you do this, the easier it becomes and pretty soon you live in joy. When you come from this higher energy that joy will bring you, your passion will find you. Relax and be in the moment. Robin Buckley
