Finding my purpose...help!

Posted Jun 29, 2009 03:30 PM
Hello all Braveheart Women,

I was guided to take part in the Braveheart community without really knowing why or how it will impact my journey. I keep coming back to it and reading everyone's thoughts, comments, words of encouragement and words of enlightenment. I'm drawn to those who demonstrate their confidence in their choices despite the sometimes rough edges of their experiences, however their message is always clear and strong. I'm in awe of those who can clearly state what their passion and purpose is in life.

How did you get there? How did you know your calling? What is allowing you to be so sure when you indicate what your passion and purpose is in life?

I ask you this as I seem to be at a crossroad and I'm looking for my purpose. I've remarried four years ago to a wonderful man and combined, we have four teen boys. Our relationships are nothing short of awesome and we enjoy the outdoors at our cottage. I have a great job and so does my husband. We don't have social friends but plenty of acquaintances. I have a close circle of women friends with whom I get together on occasion.

I started a home based business a year ago but it has not gone anywhere yet. I'm not sure that it's my passion and purpose. I read alot of books and I really like to follow the readings of Dr. Wayne Dyer. I started meditating and simplifying my life.
My crossroad is this: do I just continue on this path without knowing where I'm going? Do I re-explore this home business and get a fresh new start? Is there a plan out there for me that I just haven't found yet? What do I do in the meantime?

If you have any words of wisdom, I am certainly open to hearing what you have to say. I can spend all day reading books: blogs, listening to teleseminars: cd's...I'm inspired but what do I do with the feeling?

Dear Lisette,

It is nice to hear that you and your family love each other and are having fun....and that you have outside relationships that you also enjoy. The emptiness as a result of not having those things can get in the way of claiming your purpose....your calling is no substitute for having love and peace in your life but the love and peace in your life radiates through your calling and into the service you bring to the world.....sooooooooo that you are grounded, safe, happy......is a great start, a base to work from....

"I started a home based business a year ago but it has not gone anywhere yet." It has gone somewhere....it brought you here....and got you to ask this question of your self " I'm not sure that it's my passion and purpose." and got you to start doing this "I read alot of books and I really like to follow the readings of Dr. Wayne Dyer. I started meditating and simplifying my life. "and ask this..."My crossroad is this: do I just continue on this path without knowing where I'm going?"

For me, I never know where I am going....I just know and then do the next right thing by following my heart.....I do what I love....now sometimes I do things so I can do what I love....for instance right now I am just finishing up a 2 month job which is not my true calling but I make alot of money to do what I love....at some point soon...I will leave this job.....for now it works for me...but I know what my passion and purpose is.....and so it is easier... to answer youur question....you do not have to know where you are going.....when I started this journey of honoring my truth...I had NO IDEA that I would be here now, doing what I am doing....but it is perfect!

to answer your question..."Do I re-explore this home business and get a fresh new start?" you already know the answer and you do not need permission....you can do whatever you want....I just realized this....I can trust myself.....whatever I want to do is not crazy or stupid or lazy or etc....quit the business, get started, whatever you feel....besides you can always change your mind......I asked myself the question....when my life is over, what is the one thing, having done it, that would bring me the most peace,,,,and am I ok if I never do x.y.z?...these kinds of questions helped me...the answer was clear.......

"is there a plan out there for me that I just haven't found yet? What do I do in the meantime?" this is the plan....you are doing the plan....you are in your right and perfect place right now....what I found is that there is no destination...and what I am doing "in the meantime" is my life....

I spent a few years reading....and what not...searching around..I felt I was open, but yet not receiving....people would talk about their passion....their calling...I was waiting for something to "happen" in me.........I kind of knew mine....I knew what I wanted to be doing that I wasnt doing.....I felt like it had to be clearer than that and it did not....I needed only to start doing what I wanted..i removed the word "should" ..I did what I felt in my heart.....for me it was playing and writing music again...I had been too ashamed to own that....to claim that....too afraid to say it out loud....to be myself.....I started to feel that if I did not claim my hearts desire then I would die.....if not physically....spiritually....it became a do or die choice....literally....

all that I am doing now.....I did not plan....I do not know anything beyond some of the "next right things" I will be doing....."right for me".....the next thing that I do could lead me in a whole different direction and I will change my big "to do" list.....I am fluid...I am in motion....this process began with action based on what I felt in my heart....I accept where I am today....when I get in my head about it.....I breathe....I trust myself and the process....get back into doing.....rather than thinking....

I hope this assists you....you are meant to be here.....you are discovering and claiming your hearts desire......you are doing it...follow your heart.... Honor Your Truth for you are brave Lisette......I am glad that you are here....keep writing....

Much Love,

Debra

Lao Tzu said, "At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want."

I would encourage you to take some time in meditation then sit down and journal out your feelings. You could even have a dialogue with yourself. I find using my non-dominant hand for responding in a dialogue helpful--especially when I'm really blocked by fear and doubt.

Whatever you decide to do will be the right decision for you. I wish you well. Peace and blessings.

My question to you is this?. What is the one thing in life that you would do and do it for free. What is it that brings you joy? is it cooking, drawing, gardening. Your passion is the thing you dream about but never push forward to do because you convince yourself that it cannot be accomplished by you. Find whatever it is that gives you joy and build upon that. Don't be afraid to search for it, for in us we all know what we dream of being or having in this life. As little girls we knew then, reach back, think back and you will find it.

much love

Listen to your heart.... Don't get caught up in worrying if you will be judged, don't over analyze the feelings.

Trust yourself, and do what makes you happy! If that is just being, well then just be!!! It will come, but don't get so caught up in the end result.

I found that when I over analyzed I drove myself further away.... when I worried what others would think I knew I was getting off track.

When I sat down with myself and looked into my own eyes, I knew the things that truly resonate with me!

Best of luck to you my friend~

Listen to your heart.

Do some self examination and check which among your latest activities has been the most fruitful and has given you the most satisfaction and happiness. Once you have identified these, then follow through. Those are where you will shine the most.

The answer is really within yourself.

Good luck and God bless.

All the best!
