Hi Braveheart Women,

At the RISE event I made so many incredible connections that I am thankful for.

Today through one of them, Kathleen Roland, I am attending a healing bowl event. I don't know much about them but I am excited to find out!

Have any of you attended a healing bowl event? If so please share with me your experience.

I will write about my experience tomorrow.

Happy Sunday,

Carol

I have received several emails asking me what I think about gold and silver, are they a good investment and if they are going higher in price.

Here is an interesting article to back up why I think gold and silver are going to continue to rise in price and one of my top investments. Keep in mind when the value of our currency goes down it causes the price of gold and silver to go up.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/the-demise-of-the-dollar-1798175.html

Owning the physical commodity is always best, and if you are interested in buying some here is the best company I can recommend http://goldsilver.com/home/ref/997/

Now I know not all of you can afford to purchase the physical commodity so the next best thing to buy the ETF's(Exchange Traded Funds). They are shares of companies in the commodity and is a less expensive way of owning shares. You can open an account at ETrade.com and the ETF's tickers I suggest for Silver is SLV, gold is GLD or DGP(double long) and the two top mining companies are IVN and VGZ.

Please not I am not a stockbroker, I was a trader on the NYSE, but I am not telling you what to invest in. You must make your own decisions and are responsible for any losses you take. I hope this helps clarify what is going on with our currency, gold, silver and gives you an opportunity to get involved.

Best,

Carol Mason Mortarotti

Since my COBRA health insurance from my Wall Street days is about to expire and I am now a HAPPY self employed individual, I had to research health insurance plans.

After calling around to most of the health insurance companies and comparing what you get for your money, and let's be honest we need to have good health insurance, these are my two top choices:

Anthem bluecross/shield has the best inclusive full coverage for the price https://seca.anthem.com/ratequote/app 1-866-503-2829

Tonik(also run by Anthem) only offers plans for individuals, but sometimes it is cheaper if you buy 3 or 4 individual plans with them. They have 3 plans that also includes dental and eye care. This is what I went with for now but it doesn't cover maternity so again make sure you read through all the details. https://www.tonik.com/1-866-503-2829.

Go ahead, enter a few details and see what your quote would be instantly? It is worth comparing.

I almost paid $1,200 for a PPO so I am glad that I found Tonik because I will now be paying $320 a month! That is some serious savings.

*Please note these plans are not offered in every state and you need to read all the details before making a decision.

Enjoy your weekend.

I am sure everyone has received a gift card to a store they don't like, and will never ever use it. Well frett no longer. That is where PlasticJungle comes in http://bit.ly/cSj6B .

At Plastic Jungle you can sell your gift cards, buy a gift card to most stores at a 40% discount, swap your card for someone else's or see what they will pay you for the card outright. Sweet right?

They take a small percentage of the card you sell but hey it is better than it collecting dust in your desk drawer. PlasticJungle verifies the card amount so nobody gets stiffed, don't worry.

So if you know you are going to do a large shop at The Gap for example, why not buy a $200 gift card for $170 or less?

Every little bit helps go a long way. I hope this tip helps you put some money back in to your own pocket instead of Uncle Sam's.

Enjoy!

Ok I know what you are saying, yuck, black bean brownies? Trust me, they are flourless and if my girlfriend didn't tell me they were healthy I wouldn't have known they were any different.

They tasted absolutely delicious and the best part was I didn't feel guilty eating them. Heidi Swanson is the creator of 101 Cookbooks. She has all sorts of recipes on her site. Low carb, high protein, vegan, vegetarian, whole wheat....you name it she has it. What I like is that the dishes are easy to make and taste great.

Go ahead, try something and let me know what you think at http://www.101cookbooks.com/about/

I have lost eleven pounds the past five weeks by changing my eating habits and walking 30 minutes a day. The best part is that I still eat and enjoy food. I hope this helps you start your way to eating healthier as well.

I found this great website called the HappyCow Compassionate Eating Guide that lists all the getarian restaurants and health food stores around the world. Just enter your zipcode or country and it does the rest.

There are also some great resources on the site as well such as recipes, topics, vegetarian facts and a store.

Go to http://www.happycow.net/

Here's to healthy eating!

Has your computer ever crashed or worse yet has it ever been stolen? Two of my relatively new computers recently crashed and I lost everything. I am talking about ALL of my important documents, emails, family photos, 100's of itunes songs, all my contacts....it was heart breaking. I know what you are thinking... I should have backed it up but honestly, who actually does that? and who wants to store all those disks?

What if I told you that after installing Carbonite http://carbonite.com you don't ever have to back up your computer again. Yes you heard me right, EVER again. Carbonite: is a small application on your Computer

Carbonite installs a small application on your computer that works quietly in the background looking for new and changed files that need to be backed up.

It looks and feels just like part of your computer, and is integrated with your desktop—there’s no new interface for you to learn.

Completely automatic When your computer is idle, Carbonite automatically backs up your new and changed files. You don’t have to do anything! When you’re using your computer, Carbonite goes to sleep so it will never slow you down or interfere with your Internet connection.

Secure and encrypted to protect your privacy Carbonite takes data privacy and security very seriously. All your files are encrypted twice before leaving your PC. Files remain encrypted at our secure data centers, so only you can see your files.

Get your files back with a few clicks If you accidentally delete or otherwise lose files, it takes just a few clicks on your desktop to get them back. If your computer is damaged, stolen or “just dies” and you lose all your files, just visit Carbonite’s website from a new computer. Within minutes you’ll be able to begin restoring all your files.

Remote file access. Traveling or away from your personal computer? No problem, retrieve your backed up files from any computer with an internet connection.

I know this sounds like a sales pitch but I wish someone had shared this information with me. I can't tell you how comforting it is to know all my files, photos and music is safe. I can sleep like a baby at night now. I wish everything was that simple!

So go on, start their free 7 day trial and get a good night's sleep since you don't have to worry about your computer anylonger.

Oh and YES they have it for Mac computers as well!

The response on ResumeBear has been so fantastic to the original list of 50 People Job Seekers Should Follow on Twitter, that they decided to add to the list! Everyone on both lists actively tweets about current job postings, job tips, career advice or recruiting tips. All of the actual companies listed actually have Openings for Jobs NOW! http://www.resumebear.com/blog/index.php/2009/04/24/job-tweets-part-two/

Best of luck,

Carol

OK, am I the only one that wasn't aware of the United States Forever stamp? I have always added the extra postage to my first class stamp and hoped that it got to the recipient. Now that I know about the Forever stamp I won't have to worry anymore or get returned mail due to insufficient postage. Check this out:

The Forever stamp will always be valid as First–Class postage on standard envelopes weighing one ounce or less, regardless of any subsequent increases in the First–Class rate. The stamp art depicts the Liberty Bell, which is perhaps the most prominent and recognizable symbol associated with American independence. Over the years, the historic significance of the bell’s message has transcended our national borders, and today the Liberty Bell is an international icon of freedom. Replicas of the Liberty Bell exist in all fifty states and the District of Columbia.

I always order my stamps online at Forever Stamps

I hope this tips helps out a few of you other women. I love getting a card in the mail.

OK, I am sure many of you heard all about how Ashton Kutcher won the race versus CNN in attaining 1 million twitter followers. That just proves that technology is changing. If you don't have a twitter account it's free, go to http://twitter.com/ and create one. You can then follow someone and see what they are reading, talking about, doing and searching. .. (Feel free to follow me at http://twitter.com/CarolMason or Ashton Kutcher at http://twitter.com/aplusk )

The Twitter craze is just beginning to catch on at most Corporations. Most companies held back for various reasons but have now begun to incorporate Twitter and other Social Networks into their recruiting process.

Click on the link below to follow companies that are hiring, recruiters to follow and newspapers that tweet about jobs and career opportunities:

Here's a Tip For the Best time to Purchase an Airline Ticket.

What's the absolute best time to purchase a ticket directly from the airlines? Turns out it's Wednesday from midnight to 1a.m. in the time zone of the airline's "home base." (For instance, Delta is headquartered in Utah Atlanta and United currently calls Chicago home.)

Why? That's when the computer systems of most airlines get rid of the reserved but unbooked lower fare reservations. Most of us at one time or another have booked a reservation, then let it go without purchase. Snap-up these discounted fares right after this happens and you're likely to get a significant discount.

I hope this tip helps you for when you book your next trip, enjoy!
